4 bedroom and 4 1/2 bath on secluded rural estate: sleeps 8-12
This home was just redone, to maximize your comfort. There are 4 bedrooms: a master bedroom with a king bed and master bath (shower for two and claw-foot tub), 2 double bedrooms with their own private showerbaths, and a queen bedroom, with a showerbath which can be shared by those sleeping on the upstairs sitting-room pullout (full) or daybed (twin). In addition, there is a portable twin. All-in-all, up to 12 can sleep comfortably in this air-conditioned home.
If you do need to stay in touch, there is free high-speed wi-fi and Apple TV. The wood-burning fireplace, adjacent to the large, open, eat-in kitchen and dining areas, makes for a cozy gathering in the evening – if you are not outside grilling, or watching the stars from the back deck.

About Ripley Hathaway
I am a landscape architect who grew up on this property. I live just down the hill from the Carriage House and have spent most of my life along the Hudson River. I will be happy to pass along local knowledge about the valley, and to steer you to the best farms and farmstands, restaurants and movie theaters (including a drive-in), and any other activities you may wish to pursue.
Ripley Hathaway purchased this Estate in 1966
Why Ripley Hathaway chose Town of Clermont
This property has remained essentially unchanged since the mid- nineteenth century, when it was first developed by Robert Livingston. When you come here you can relax and experience nature as he experienced it, except now within the comforts of a modern home. If you are a bird watcher, you will thrill to see our resident pair of bald eagles, or our flocks of wild turkeys. Other birds that are often seen include great blue herons, hummingbirds, pileated woodpeckers, and red-tailed hawks. We keep miles of paths cleared for hikes throughout the property. Pick up a picnic lunch at the renowned Central Market in Germantown and have a picnic in the woods beside our waterfall, or in our old orchards.
What makes this Estate unique
Your accomodations are down a gated, half-mile, private road which is accessible only to you and the owner. Outside there is comfortable deck furniture and Adirondack chairs, on which to finish that book you have been meaning to read, or to just relax. Should the weather keep you inside, there is wi-fi and a flat screen TV, along with more old-fashioned pursuits like board games and books. Air-conditioned for the summer, and with a wood-burning fireplace for the autumn and winter (aged firewood is provided), there is really no "off season" here. If you are attending a wedding in the area, this is a great base and is ideal for sharing. Our full-time property manager is always on-call, should any problem arise.

Extremely nice, clean and comfy house
Thank you so much for your lovely review. You were a delight and would be happy to have you back. For those reading this review we just received 2 feet of snow yesterday and the Ski resorts got 3 feet. This home is currently available for the rest of March. Put on your cross country skis or snow shoes and you can start exploring our 300 acres as soon as you exit the front or back doors

A country overnight
This is a beautiful property , close to the Hudson River, set in the woods.
Dear MaryBruce,
We loved having you too! Thank you for the suggestion of the chairs to see the sunset. Hope you will return sometime soon. All best wishes.
Ripley
beautiful property and land
Couldn't have picked a better place to host us for our Wedding Weekend
Location
We are located in the heart of the HUDSON VALLEY, just 20 minutes south of Hudson, NY, with its many antique shops and restaurants, 10 minutes north of BARD College and its Performing Arts Center, and 25 minutes north of OMEGA. Any art lover should not miss touring Frederick Church's home, Olana, just up route 9G, or his mentor Thomas Cole's home in Catskill, NY. Historic homes of the Livingston family, such as Clermont (State Historic Site) and Wilderstein, in Rhinebeck, are open most days. In nearby Hyde Park, history buffs can enjoy a day visiting FDR's home, as well as Val-Kill, the cottage his wife Eleanor used to get away from it all. Or enjoy a concert on the lawn at the nearly adjacent Vanderbilt mansion. If you love horses, you can take in a show at HITS, across the river in Saugerties, or take a riding lesson just down the road.
