We love the Smoky Mountains and have always dreamed of owning a home here. Our dream came true in June, 2012, and we're looking forward to sharing our knowledge of the park and our home with our guests.
For the past 20+ years, we have escaped our hectic lives in Chicago to hike and backpack the beautiful trails in the Smokies. We were engaged on the top of Mt. LeConte, and both of children had their first (of many) backpacking adventures here in the Park. We've hiked most of the trails, including much of the famous Appalacian Trail. We still live in Chicago but once the kids are off to college, our next dream will be call Tennessee our home.
Patty purchased this cabin in 2012
We fell in love with this home from the moment that we saw it. We love the tranquility of the property yet its convenience to the nearby attractions. We love being soooo close to the National Park. We love that the home is unique and handcrafted with spaces for everyone to relax and play. It's our place to unwind when we need it and, most importantly, make wonderful memories with our kiddos and friends. We hope that you love it as much as do!
The cabin is beautifully handcrafted. It was build to last forever in this peaceful setting. The rooms are spacious with high-end finishes and the community is beautiful. Three Little Birds was build to be 'a home'. We absolutely love our home, and hope that you will treasure it as we go.
Three Little Birds Cabin was the perfect getaway for my family. My husband, my sister and our kids ages 3, 12, and 14 shared the cabin at the beginning of August. We felt at home the minute we drove in the driveway. It is surrounded by trees and has the most welcoming porch with rockers and a swing. Although there are neighbors, you feel like you are in the middle of the woods. The older kids shared the loft, and enjoyed the office area, TV/DVD, and wifi. Our 3 year old used the toddler cot that is available and a sleeping bag in the Master Suite. Usually when we sleep somewhere new, especially at a hotel, he has trouble getting to sleep. From the first night, he was so comfortable, there were no issues at bedtime. The kitchen, bathrooms, really the entire cabin, is clean and well equipped. We really appreciated having the plastic dishes for our youngest. There are even ziploc bags, storage containers and foil for leftovers. There are lawn toys and outdoor gear in the garage, toys in the office area, and cable TV in the living room and bedrooms. The laundry room has detergent and dryer sheets available. Patty, the owner, takes a personal interest in helping you plan your stay. She is quick to respond to questions, and has a wealth of ideas to help plan activities that suit your interests. In the cabin there are guidebooks, maps, brochures, menus and more to assist you. We were drawn to the cabin because we wanted to see and explore the area, but wanted to avoid the crowds and noise of Gatlinburg. We hiked the Cosby Nature Trail near the cabin. We used a scavenger hunt book from the cabin to look for landmarks along the trail. This part of the national park is less visited, so we had the trail to ourselves. We drove the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail and saw 4 black bears. The traffic was nonstop and, at times, it was hard to navigate around parked cars. Even though it was beautiful, we were glad to get back to the quiet and peace in Cosby. Another highlight of staying in Cosby is being able to eat and shop at local establishments where the owners/ artists take the time to visit with you. For a little excitement Rafting in the Smokies is nearby along I-40. Two of us ziplined and 4 of us did the family float rafting. Even though it was hot during our visit, the trees and nearby streams made it feel cooler when you were on the trails or in the cabin. We only stayed in the cabin from Mon night-Fri morning, but we all wished we could have stayed longer
Our family of four LOVED this cabin! It's perfectly decorated for its woodsy surroundings, with all the comforts of home. My husband and I spent evenings on the screened back porch listening to the sounds of nature. It's close enough to enjoy everything the area has to offer, but secluded enough that coming "home" at the end of a long, hot day was such a treat. I especially loved the way the tall trees shade the cabin--such a restful feeling after a day in the summer sun. Highly recommend!
Let me start by telling you that I booked this place after having cancelled (and forfeited a $400 deposit) on a cabin in Gatlinburg. That cabin I booked just based on the description on the website, it wasn't until about a week later that I google the name of the place and discovered all the 1 star reviews. Epic fail on my part.
After dealing with that, I wanted to book a cabin that wouldn't disappoint. Three Little Birds Cabin definitely did not disappoint.
This place is like a home away from home. Pack up your clothes and get some groceries on the way in. Anything else you might need, this cabin probably already has. There's tons of reviews already talking about how clean the place is and all the great amenities it has so I won't bore you with that.
What I will say is that the owner, Patty, is awesome. You can tell that Patty and her family actually stay here themselves and don't just treat this place as an 'investment property'. I asked her for some suggestions on things to do, keeping in mind we have a 3 and 5 year old. She didn't just respond with a few things, but with an extensive list of suggestions. Pretty much everything we did (hiking to Ramsay Cascades, rafting with Rafting in the Smokies then dinner at Bean Tree Cafe, grabbing Hungry Bear BBQ and then having a picnic at Greenbrier, etc) we did based on her recommendations and everything was great.
Would absolutely stay here again.
Wonderful neighbors...pictures online do not do it justice. Had everything we needed and more. Only negative were sofa sleeper was like sleeping on springs but as soon as we notified patty she ordered a topper from Amazon which arrived 2 days later. Beautiful home....highly recommend.
The cabin was more than we expected and had every amenity you could need for a vacation. The kids really enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit in the evenings. The dinner and activity guide provided by the owners made our planning so easy. We really enjoyed trying Carver's Applehouse restaurant and Janice's diner as well as the Bean Tree Cafe after rafting. The kids also had a blast at CLIMB Works and horseback riding. We did some hiking and I think the kid's highlight was the midnight hole falls in Big Creek. Overall, it was a great vacation and the cabin was incredible. We look forward to coming back in the future.
Absolutely fabulous place. Perfect for families. Has everything you could possibly need and more that you could possibly expect.
OMG… What an absolutely wonderful property. It felt like we were pulling into our own cabin in the woods. Three Little Birds had every convenience we needed and more. Clean, well kept and updated describes this place well. Our youngest travelers were in their 20’s, but the cabin was equipped for even young children. A very contemporary kitchen that had every utensil needed to cook just about any meal. The beds were very comfortable, clean and roomy. The bathrooms and showers were as clean as ours at home. They provide enough firewood to burn all season. Although we never took advantage of them, there were two different types of grills with tools. Our family did use the hot tub and hammock located on the screened in back porch much more than I thought we would, both were so relaxing after a day of hiking. Never turned on the 55 inch TV or used the stereo located in the living room, but I have to imagine that they would be more than enough for the space. The real beauty of Three Little Birds is its location. My family much prefers the quiet, natural aspects of the Great Smoky Mountains NP, and being about 20 minutes east of the Sugarland entrance of the park; well let’s just say there is a lot less traffic, noise, fudge, neon signs and people. Patty has a great understanding of the area and was most helpful with suggesting the hiking trails that would be the best for our abilities. One last thing, if by chance there is something you think that you might need while out on the trails, or something that Three Little Birds might not have, look in the garage because I would be willing to bet it is there. I would without hesitation recommend Three Little Birds to my family and friends.
Three Little Birds is located within 5 minutes of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park entrance. We are 15 minutes away from white water rafting and ziplining, and just an easy 25 minutes from Gatlinburg. Go antiquing and visit the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC just 1 hour away. The house is set in a tranquil wooded setting surrounded by nature. No hills to climb or crazy roads to get to our house.
