Gorgeous lake house on Copake Lake, in Columbia County/Hudson Valley, just off the beautiful Taconic Parkway and near Amtrak and Metro-North trains. Must see immaculately kept home with incredible landscaping and wrap around deck. A short 2 hr drive from NYC gets you into the picturesque and peaceful rolling hills of the tristate area of NY/MASS/CT. This beautiful house features an indoor pool, outstanding landscaping on 3 acres of property, fully finished basement with ping pong and pool table. Ideal for families or couples. Can easily sleep up to 8 guests. An easy and attractive drive, with many things to do in the area (Tanglewood music, Great Barrington films and restaurants, etc.). Available for week or month rentals.
Beautiful home with every close attention to every loving detail. All the modern comforts with the relaxation and style of a country getaway. Wrap around deck and screened-in porch allows for long lazy days and evenings, with perfectly placed overhead fan and BBQ grill providing the perfect setting for an evening with friends and a glass of wine.
Barbara's house was amazing! The home itself was beautiful, and it was so fun to be able to stay right on the lake. There was so much to do inside the house itself, and everything was really clean and well-maintained. Barbara was really easy to talk with both before and after the stay, and we had everything we needed!
This house had everything we could possibly have wanted. We swam every day in the indoor pool -- I did a ton of exercise -- and we went to the lake every day to canoe or swim. The house is just fantastic. We cooked every night, and the kitchen was easy to adapt to, even for someone picky like me. There is every possible dish, pot, utensil you could want except we couldn't find cookie sheets that fit into the oven. We did a lot of baking! The dining room table is large and gracious. The views from the house are beautiful everywhere. The owner has quite the green thumb, so in summer, flowers abound.
The bedroom upstairs is enormous -- with a private bath with a jacuzzi. There's also a handy closet area where we put all of our suitcases and such so that they would be out of the way. There was plenty of room for clothes in one of the dressers and part of another. Towels, sheets, blankets and pillows are plentiful. Beds are comfortable. There's a pull-out bed in an office area outside of the master bedroom, which would be good for an additional guest, I imagine.
Downstairs there are two bedrooms that look out onto the pool. One has an extremely comfortable queen bed and the other has two twin beds. There is a bathroom right by those two bedrooms, which is very convenient.
The pool area is to die for. The view of the outside from the warmth of the pool (85 degrees) is gorgeous.
The house has a wrap-around deck on all four sides and nice seating arrangements and a screened in porch with a grill as well.
We also watched a number of the movies -- the house has a VCR and DVD player. And we played some of the board games that are available in the basement, where there is also a pool table and table tennis. There's an additional bathroom down there, and a washer and dryer available, along with an extra refrigerator/freezer.
To make things easy on ourselves, we took pictures of everything when we got there so that we could be sure to put everything back where it belonged. With such a huge house, it was useful to have this memory prompt after two weeks of pure relaxation.
The lake afforded us hours of fun. The water is warm in summer. There is a swim platform near a dock that is accessible to owners in this homeowners association. The house also has a Kevlar canoe, which we used a lot. We also rented a pontoon from the Copake Lake boat/ski guy
We can't wait to go back. It was purely delightful. Comfortable, clean, cheery, it had everything we needed and more.
We rented this property with the thought that we would be able to entertain our sons, 6 grandchildren, and a host of other relatives. While not all stayed at the same time, the property was just incredible in meeting our needs...for loved ones ages 3 to 78. It is not on the lake but near enough (couple hundred 100yds. for easy access). There is a canoe and boat slip available, perfect for those who fish and dockage for a pontoon boat which we rented. The house and its contents was a wonderful place to entertain. The screen porch was spacious with furniture for napping, dining and just hanging out. The wrap around porch did just that..around the entire house with seats and flowers everywhere. The great room was equally inviting with comfortable seating for lounging. There was a nice library of movies and music. The bedrooms were comfortable and well appointed and the game room downstairs contained everything imaginable. The indoor pool was used extensively for exercise and enjoyed by the children. Compliments to the owner who was most attentive in ensuring our stay was everything we had hope it would be. We look forward to renting again.
I spent a weekend here with a few friends and absolutely loved it. To begin with, the home itself is lovely and very well maintained and was pristine when we got in. Basically every amenity you could possibly want. Pool, Jacuzzi bathtub, spacious kitchen, wrap around deck with lots of lounge chairs, including an enclosed portion with a gas grill. Beautiful flowers, not to mention a basement chock full of entertainment for young and old alike: ping pong, pool table, mini-basketball etc. Plenty of space outside for kids to run around. Long driveway with lots of space to park cars, and the beautiful lake Copake is basically a hop skip and a jump away. Places to rent boats and equipment for water sports are a 5 minute drive away, and best of all the peace and quiet. There are neighboring homes, so you don't feel isolated, but at the same time they aren't close enough for an noise to carry and you will sleep like royalty. A welcome change from the constant street noise of the city. Scenic sightseeing is fairly close at hand if you feel like venturing out, as are grocery stores and the like if provisions are required. Loved every minute of this weekend!
I had a wonderful time with friends at this house over Memorial Day. It was very well maintained, comfortable and convenient. Particular highlights include the lake, a great enclosed porch and ample lawn space to run around for various antics.
