Welcome to Moose Walk Cabin. Your Alaskan home away from home is a two-story log home nestled on a quiet wooded lot by a large stream. The cabin is in a prime location, close to activities, but still remote enough to get that Alaska wilderness feel.
Perfect for aurora viewing, a romantic get away, family vacation, or extended stay.
Moose Walk Cabin is situated in the heart of all your Interior Alaska destinations: North Pole Alaska. Grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, and the famous Santa Claus house are a short 4 miles from the cabin. Downtown Fairbanks and Fairbanks International Airport are a quick 20 minute drive.
If comfortably watching natures greatest winter exhibition (the Aurora Borealis) is on your bucket list; then you've found the right place. No one knows what time of night the aurora will appear. Stay nice and cozy snuggled on the couch in the cabin, while you anxiously gaze out the large picture windows for the mystical aurora to begin its dance. While outside capturing those magical moments, don't worry about getting cold and missing a single second of the aurora. Nestle up to a crackling fire in front of the cabin as the skies mesmerize you with magical hues of green, purple, and red. Paths on the frozen ice are kept free of snow for alternate aurora shooting locations.
The below link is your view of the aurora from the cabin living room.
The winter weather turns our fishing kingdom into your very own private ice skating arena and hockey rink. Sticks, pucks, goals and some ice skates are provided. Playing in your winter boots is also a lot of fun--and safer for those that can't skate.
At the front porch, strap on your skis or snowshoes and trek out into the winter wonderland. You will find endless miles of trails waiting for you to discover them.

Every guest who has used a fly rod for the first time at Moose Walk Cabin has caught fish. Please let us know if you need fishing instruction. We are happy to help. Fly rods and spinning rods are at the cabin for your use.
From the front door you can blaze endless miles of hiking, and ATV trails. Bring your ATVs; there is plenty of parking.

GREAT TO KNOW INFO
A rental vehicle is necessary when visiting Alaska. Public transportation is not what you see in other countries and big cities. Taxis are available, but cost is typically more than a rental vehicle. A one-way taxi trip to the airport is around $60.00. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is not necessary, but recommended if you plan to drive to the Arctic Circle.

We are a retired military family. We were stationed in Fairbanks Alaska from 2005 to 2009. We were relocated by the military, but knew we wanted to return to Alaska for retirement. In 2011 we had the opportunity to return to Alaska. We waited for "just the right place" to become available, for us to start our retirement dream of owning/operating a vacation rental in Alaska. Moose Walk Cabin was exactly what our family was looking for. We absolutely love everything about Alaska. We look forward to making your stay in Alaska, no matter how long, a memorable experience.
Terri Pangborn purchased this cabin in 2013
We chose this property because of the location and the cabin. The private aurora views are amazing. We have moose all summer in our back yard and yet we are less than five minutes to town. We love the water access at our back door. We are able to canoe and fish any time during the summer. Mother nature turns our water into a hockey rink for winter fun. The icing on the cake is the amazing aurora viewing.
This private waterfront property allows travelers to have all the comforts from home while in Alaska. The tranquility, aurora views from the cabin steps, and wildlife are amazing. The cabin's Alaskan theme and charm makes this home away from home a truly unforgettable place.
This cabin really is a gem. Stay here--you won't be disappointed. Our family of 5 stayed for 45 days while we searched for a new home. Moose Walk Cabin had everything our family needed. We really enjoyed watching the wildlife through the large picture windows downstairs. The beds are the most comfortable I have ever slept on. Everything you need to cook (minus food) is in the large kitchen. The wood fired sauna was a great treat to relax in on a cold winter day. A grocery store and the Santa Claus House are only three minutes away in North Pole.
A great little cabin. Clean, easy to find and well appointed. Overall, a real treat.
My two young children, my husband and I flew for 12 hours to stay at The Moose Walk Cabin! When we arrived the cabin was warm and lit awaiting our arrival at 2:30am. We were so hungry and cold and as soon as we walked in we saw a beautiful spread of yummy Christmas cookies and a keurig with coffee and hot chocolate!! Needless to say we felt welcome instantly!! Rod and Terri were awesome and had everything so nice and clean for us to enjoy! Their decorations were so cute. They made sure we had everything we need from clean sheets to towels to soap and shampoos and conditioners. Just awesome!!! We enjoyed all the amenities the cabin had to offer including the ice rink right in the backyard inclusive of goals and ice skates and hockey sticks! Their ice fishing setup in a big warm house on the lake was spectacular and our fish tasted amazing too!!! We loved their snow mobile rides too..Rod and Terri really do it right!! Super professional and they really want you to have fun!! Our family has never relaxed more on any vacation, we hope to visit again soon during the fall or summer time. I highly recommend Terri and Rod's adventures and their cozy cabin as it's the most cozy and welcoming place in Fairbanks!! Thank you so very much Rod and Terri 😊
It is all in the details!!! Terri & Ron could not be better hosts! Their cabin is everything and has everything you could on a trip to Alaska! Thank you for a wonderful place to stay!
The stay in North Pole exceeded all expectations! I traveled there with my husband and teenaged son for a week over Thanksgiving - chasing the aurora.
When we read all of the great reviews, we thought we knew what to expect but at every turn, Terri and Rod had another surprise in store. They thought of everything we could need or want and made the trip so much easier and that gave us time to focus on the fun. We all liked the chocolate on our pillows when we checked in!
The cabin has the best of both worlds - it's in a neighborhood so close enough to a town yet feels so secluded. Our views were of the aurora at night and the beautiful, white frozen river and trees during the day. It was really beautiful. We could see the aurora from the cabin - even better from the 2nd floor bedroom - which is really important when it's minus 25 degrees outside. It was spectacular.
When we arrived, Rod came over to show us everything in the cabin: from the remote that operates the car pulg in, to the washer/drayer, to the wood burning stove, and more. They had really thought of everything. He showed us where they kept the ice skates - in all sizes - and the hockey equipment for the rink they made on the river behind the cabin. It was pure bliss and beauty.
Throughout the trip, if we had questions about the cabin, the area or anything else, Rod and Terri were available to help us. We took Rod's ice fishing trip which was fantastic and so convenient to work with him on that too. We would definitely recommend going on his trips.
The cabin also had tings we didn't know we needed but thank goodness we had them - like a remote started for the plug in for the car. A must have in that cold weather.
We were there for a week and it flew by. We all want to go back and stay here again. It was the best VRBO experience we have ever had. And it's because Terri and Rod create an at home environment and a tranquil, easy place to call home for the trip.
Thank you, Rod & Terri. We'll be back!
My husband and I wanted a cabin as a base to see the aurora from - and we were not disappointed. Although the cabin is in a residential area in North Pole, it is laid out so you have privacy and solitude. The living room windows next to the fireplace was a perfect place to watch the aurora. The cabin has everything you would want for your stay and is decorated in a moose and bear theme. The owners are very gracious and will help you with anything you need. We definitely will go back and stay there again!
We stayed for 2 nights at Moose Walk Cabin for our honeymoon. The cabin was already booked for the remainder of our stay but we would've loved to have spent our whole honeymoon there. The cabin itself is beautiful and the owners keep it extremely clean. The owners were readily available to answer questions and provide tips on local activities and made effort to add little touches around the cabin to make us feel special and welcome. We highly recommend this cabin to anyone!!
Fairbanks in known for it's beautiful northern lights displays. Our cabin is situated in an ideal location for aurora viewing. Picnicking, fishing (catch and release), cookouts, and canoeing are all available on the property. 5 miles brings you to the City of North Pole where Santa Claus House provides shopping in a toy and gift store and a visit with the reindeer. North Pole also has a post office, restaurants, grocery, video stores, churches, and medical offices. 10 mile trip to Chena Lakes Recreation Area brings the best of summer with beaches, paddle boats, sailboats and river access for canoeing in the summer and winter fun with cross country ski trails and sledding.
