We had a wonderful time and we didn't want to leave, the gite was beautiful & Tonic and Jerry were charming and made us very welcome.
Pereyroux is ideally situated for a relaxed family holiday. It is close to everything you might want to see and do around the Dordogne region, whilst also located on the outskirts of a village, which lends itself to undisturbed and peaceful days and nights away from everything. The house is homely and yet offers enough options for everyone to have the space to do what they want to do. The house, pool and grounds were clean and well tended throughout our stay by the owner who lives next door. All of the rooms were comfortable and spacious too. As the Olympics were on, we often gathered by the t.v. in the lounge to cool down and to watch athletes do the hard work!
We arrived tired and hot from a long journey through France with 3 generations and a dog on board a campervan. The welcome we received from the owner was kind and generous, and she and her partner were most attentive to our needs and queries throughout our stay.
The first few days were spent relaxing around the house, garden and in the pool, trying out and enjoying all the facilities available. The days were hot and evenings long and soon our energies were renewed sufficient to start exploring the pretty and historic Dordogne region.
As the owner has lived in the property a long time, he knowledge of the locality and it's opportunities for holiday makers is invaluable, and she was generous with her time and advice.
We visited some villages, caves and off course swam, canoed and languished by the Dordogne throughout our stay. The local resteaurants and cafe's and village events which were recommended to us, were as charming as you could hope for. As we only had a week, it was not nearly long enough to do everything we wanted but all agreed that we would love to come back for longer next year.
The Gite is well maintained and cleanliness is of the highest standard, it is well furnished and the kitchen is fully equipped. The grounds are well tended and the swimming pool is superb and cleaned every day by the owners Tonic and Jerry who are always available to answer any questions. Our family have spent several holidays at Pereyroux , we have already booked to return there next summer. There are many quaint interesting villages in the neighbourhood to visit where you will also find a good choice of restaurants. I have no hesitation in recommending this location .
Lovely characterful property in beautiful gardens. The property was very clean and we were immediately welcomed by Tonic, the owner. The downstairs bedroom had a couple of maintenance issues in the bathroom but Tonic was at hand to sort this out straightaway. The pool and arbri were lovely and although we had mixed weather we were able to make good use of both. We visited Sarlat, Gourdon, Rockamadour and other lovely medieval towns in the region and enjoyed excellent food in the restaurants. Our favourite local restaurant was in St Ju called La Gabarre, quite expensive but worth every penny. The Roi Carrotte was excellent value and food was delicious, although does not have the atmosphere of La Gabarre. The local restaurants in Masclat only opened for breakfast/lunch which was a shame as we would have loved to walk there instead of taking our cars. All in all the Gite was ideal for us (3 mature couples).
The cottage was wonderful and spacious and the outside facilities were fantastic. The pool and abri were really useful for our quiet days and our evenings after exploring the lovely Dordogne valley. There were restaurants nearby and a good boulangerie.
I would recommend the area and the cottage to families as the pool, tabletennis table were great fun and there are plenty of loungers and chairs for relaxing on.
Wifi kept the children happy.
Thanks to Tonic and Jerry for their hospitality too.
We were just six retirees, looking for a comfortable gîte, lost somewhere in the Dordogne/Périgord region. One specific requirement was a ground-floor bedroom for one of our couple. Summing up, this one, Peyreyroux, ticked all our boxes.
The building itself is based on an old barn, but the design of the conversion and the rebuild was just superb, specifically to meet the requirements of a gîte, without losing a certain period feel. Externally, we rated it the most attractive building around.
Inside, all the appliances necessary for a comfortable stay were there.
For seniors like us, or for a more numerous family, the very large garden area had it all - a covered table-tennis table and barbecue next to an immaculate infinity pool. Looking out over the end of that pool, all you can see is countryside.
The house-keepers were instantly available from next door, (virtually invisible from the gîte), to answer any questions or provide local information.
If you haven’t guessed already, we enjoyed our stay there.
Our group fo friends, 3 couples, stayed at Pereyroux in early August 2011. This gite is beautifully built from the shell of an old barn using all of the original beams, uneven surfaces and thick stone walls you would expect in a property obviously renovated with a great deal of care and attention. The set up within the property is excellent with three bathrooms and plenty of space, matched outside by the infinity pool across the lawn having its own wooden gazebo shelter, power supply and fridge. Tonic and Jerry (yes really!) are very friendly owners living next door but with the properties facing away from each other, are totally unobtrusive. The surrounding countryside is stunning, with the fortfied town of Gourdon 15 / 20 minutes drive away for supermarket supplies, the lovely little village of Masclat with a boulangerie and two retaurants for long long lunches within easy walking distance, and the Dordogne river 10 minutes away by car. I don't suppose our group was too hard to please but this property is really exceptionally well thought out and set up, extremely comfortable for up to 10 people and in a very beautiful area of France with so many things to do if you get tired of just sitting and enjoying the views and the wine.
Situated in the Dordogne valley close to the medieval market towns of Sarlat la Caneda, Souillac and Gourdon, and within reasonable walking distance from the village of Masclat which has 2 excellent restaurants, a bakery, grocers and tennis court.
Nearby attractions include riding, golf, canoeing, paintball, tree walking, famous chateaux with museums, prehistoric caves, Rocamadour (second most visited site in France), a wealth of history, entertainment and naturistic delights of bird watching, walking in unspoilt countryside with an abundance of wild flowers and rare orchids.
