Surprising amount of room inside this year round home within a short walking distance to one of the 5 association beaches on Sunset Lake and Hills Pond. Roomy 1 car detached garage for storing the toys and beach gear. Knotty pine walls & beamed ceilings plus a stone fireplace add to the coziness of this year round home. Drive 5 minutes down the hill to Winnipesaukee or 15 minutes to Gunstock Mountain and all of it's attractions.
It doesn't get any better than the Alton Bay area. Lake Winnipesaukee is amazing and beautiful... and for the winter, Gunstock mountain is 15 minutes away.
A beautiful stone fireplace and high vaulted and beamed ceilings create a really cozy atmosphere. Enjoy the tranquil days and nights, sitting on the large sunny deck
Loved this dog friendly spacious tree house off the grid! Even though it rained most of our stay it was fun to have family time to play games and explore all the nature near by! We had so much fun, great place if you love the outdoors!
All we can say is WOW!. Talk about a stress free 3 nights. We celebrated Thanksgiving here. We had 5 adults and our 2 dogs, which was a huge plus for us. It was strange watching TV without being able to pause, rewind, or fast forward a recorded show. It was truly a treat. While cell service and internet on our phones was spotty, this too was a nice treat. The weather was perfect for walks with the dogs too. The location is very quiet. The back deck has a propane fire pit that took the chill off while we were outside talking and enjoying the outdoors. The communication with the home owners was excellent. Michael was very quick to respond to any questions I had. We also spotted 2 red foxes in the next door yard, which was a very cool sight. If you want a place to get away, and feel right at home, this is the place.
This was a last minute rental, we booked the house only 5 days before our planned arrival. The host made the process very easy and straight forward, he was very responsive, answered all the questions and suggested attractions , places and restaurants worth visiting. The house was comfortable, spacious and tastefully decorated, TV in every room, board games, sand toys helped keep our three young kids busy. They LOVED the beautiful lake, which is less than 5 min away, most of the walk is along quiet private dirt road, away from speeding cars. The beach is quiet and clean, the water clear and warm, with plenty of shallow area, safe for young kids or beginning swimmers.
Clean comfortable house, helpful host that made us feel welcome, picturesque lake, only few minutes away from beautiful Winnipesaukee, we have found what we've been looking for and .... made arrangements for next year.
We stayed here for Soulfest, it was great to come back to a quiet house after an active day. The beds are very comfortable. Each room has a TV option. We were able to live a few hours with no internet, with the many board games and videos. The lake is a very short walk down the road and worth checking out.
The house is gorgeous, it is both rustic and comfortable. The inside looks bigger and more welcoming then the pictures. It is spacious and has a lovely little balcony upstairs. There were ceiling fans to move the hot August air and a fire place that made us want to be spending a cold winter night.
The host were very reachable by email both before, during, and after our stay. They had many options for area attractions/dinning.
Defiantly coming back next year.
We really enjoyed our stay! Communication was great with the flexible owners. Plenty of room for a family or a few couples--- and even our cat! The cottage was well stocked and felt like home. If you don't mind that some of the storage spaces are shared with the owner's items then you will love the place. The hosts were gracious making everything available during our stay. Plus, it's so close to a small beach which was very private during the week. The neighbors and community were very friendly. One even lent us their pedal boat! Also, very close to Winnipesaukee. Couldn't have asked for much more!
The cottage itself is a stone's throw from 5 beautiful private association beaches on Hills Pond and Sunset Lake. You are also minutes to Lake Winnipesaukee and all of it's attractions. Downtown Alton Bay has numerous restaurants from fine dining to local clam shack spots. The downtown is a quaint, picturesque New England setting. You are also close to the popular Weir's Beach, a breathtaking hike up Mt. Major, and Funspot for the kids.
