This awesome log cabin cabin is a great home base to explore the smoky mountains...Secluded yet close to all the outdoor attactions in the area. This newly build cabin is tri-level, with wrap a round deck and stone patio w/ fire pit. Interior is walled with pine tongue and groove and wood flooring. Upstairs is a master suite with 10 jet double shower. Main level has queen bedroom, great room with high ceiling and 1/2 bath. Lower level has 2nd living room area with separate bedroom( 2 twin beds) and full bathroom. Kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. Outdoors you are away from the sounds of traffic... You can hear the woodpeckers. Many mornings in the fall the wild turkeys are in the front yard. Sit under the stars and enjoy the wilderness or rock on the porch and watch the sunset.
My husband steve and I own two cabins in Andrews. We live locally and will personally handle your check in and can be on hand if a problem arises during your stay. We own RidgeRunner Ziplines in Andrews and offer discounts for our cabin guests.
Sue Jordan purchased this cabin in 2011
I love the seclusion of this log cabin. Enjoy watching for wildlife from the porch. In the fall and early spring a flock of turkey. Have seen bears and also family of foxes on the mountain.
The cabin was spotless and beautiful. We are a family of 6 and it fit us perfectly. The large shower made bathing toddlers so easy. It was like they had their own little personal shower heads. The bottom floor was a perfect suite for our older kids. The home is very well built so the noise level from the bottom basement couldn't be heard up stairs really. The stairs were so quiet on both levels that you couldn't hear while walking. These are important things when you have older kids and smaller kids especially during sleeping times.
Our favorite place to hang out was at the beautiful large fire ring. We could sit there by the fire while the children explores close by us. The lights hanging over the patio area were beautiful as well. We also enjoyed grilling and eating outside on the porch seating. Again, they had two tables and that was perfect for our large family.
There was a beautiful mountain views from the fire pit are.
We also enjoyed walking up by the shed. The scenery was just gorgeous. There was breath taking views along that path way. You can see amazing views of the mountains and the mountain rock on the other side of you. When you reach the end you can climb up and have even more views. We didn't see creeks or water falls or small ponds like another reviewer mentioned, but we didn't explore deep in the woods. The owner stopped by one morning and warned us about a copper head in the rocks. So we were hesitant to explore to deep, and grateful that he warned us. He was very kind and helpful.
There was little to no interest access in the cabin or anywhere in town or on our drives to Cherokee. You definitely need to have address and information in hand before you travel. Once you get there you won't be able to look up anything. Cherokee was a great day trip. We wouldn't however recommend a drive to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. It's way way to far for a day trip. Mileage time driving is not the same when driving around mountains, and the traffic was horrible.
We do wish the cabin had a hot tub and a hammock. That would have made it absolute paradise. But those are just extras. The cabin was a great price. No complaints here.
This was a great place to stay the week. It's not far from Nantahala Lake (must visit). The home was well maintained and very clean. We would definitely return for another stay. The only Cons would be that the Internet definitely needs upgrading if you have more than one serious user. The owner did make mention of plans to upgrade internet provider. Be prepared to unplug and be unreachable if you have cell phone service from ATT. The location on the mountain makes it very difficult to get even one transient bar. Verizon users will be ok. Installing a cell phone signal booster for various providers may be a nice consideration. I strongly advise a four wheel drive capable vehicle with decent tires to reach the cabin. We did alright in a Ford Expedition, but would have rather had my F150. The owner is very nice, and also owns a local zipline business which we didn't get a chance to do. Overall we would definitely return to this vacation home.
We met the owner, Sue, the evening we arrived. She came out to the house to help us navigate the Direct TV outage. It ends up that she must have a defective box on the main entry-level floor. No big deal, though, because we had a working TV one floor below, in the bottom floor, where it was super-cool and refreshing, considering the heat outside. Both Sue and her husband, Steve, were lovely. We knew that when we were away during the day, doing our appointed activities that they were visiting the property to make sure we were equipped with paper goods and tidying up. Steve even set up a bonfire in the fire pit, ready for our use. We never got around to using it (because we were exhausted from paddling during the day), but we really appreciated them going the extra mile to please us.
It's a great property with great sunset views, very peaceful. We will book this property again, next year.
We were looking for an isolated spot for our vacation and found it here with the convenience of town just a few miles away. The house is phenomenal. It is more than a vacation cabin, it is a home.
Breakfast on the porch is the prefect way to start the day with the only sounds are wind rustling thru the trees and birds waking up. We will definitely stay here again.
We are so glad that we got to meet Sue and Steve. They are great people.
Very nice cabin. Good price. Quiet, private setting. Clean. Nice appliances, including washer/dryer and nice tv's. Would stay again. Fast deposit return.... Thank you!
Our family had a great stay at this nice log cabin. Miss Sue was very accommodating as our trip was a spur of the moment decision. The home is right on the edge of Andrew's but feels much more private.
This property is convenient to Nantahala, Cherokee, and Bryson City. The beds are comfy and the fire pit was a hit. I'd definitely recommend this property.
