About the property

Tarn Centre and Rawthey Centre

Self-catering group accommodation in two separate barn conversions, magnificently situated with spectacular views and with their own facilities. Both the Tarn Centre and the Rawthey Centre are unique barn conversions in a traditional Cumbrian hill farm setting. Magnificent views over the Uldale valley, Cautley Spout, Wild Boar Fell and the Howgills, make the centres idyllic bases for short breaks and holidays.

They are great venues for any group: family get together, walking groups, youth groups, church groups, special interest groups, clubs, joint family holidays, group weekends/holidays and parties/celebrations. The farmstead dates back to the 17th Century and both the barns have been recently extended and converted to an exceptional standard whilst maintaining original features and character.

Location and Local Facilities

Both the Tarn Centre and the Rawthey Centre are located in the South Cumbria Fells (The Howgills), between the Market towns of Kirkby Stephen (7miles to the North) and Sedbergh (5 miles to the South), on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Both properties are in unique positions situated on a hillside with views of the Uldale Valley to the East, Cautley Spout to the South West, Baugh Fell to the South and Wild Boar Fell to the North East.

It is in an idyllic location to explore the vast amount of hills and valleys in this beautiful, unspoilt and little discovered area.

The properties are on the boundary of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The Lake District National Park with its wealth of mountain and lakeland scenery is also within easy driving distance (30-45 minutes).

Great for large groups

  • 4 of 5

The house was great - warm, comfortable and with a well equipped kitchen - and the location beautiful. The only thing in the house that could have been better were the showers (hence the 4 stars instead of 5).
