About Eric Ewing

Eric Ewing and Bruce Redman live in Redmond, Washington. We have been frequent visitors to the Big Island for 20 years. We love Mauna Lani because of the beauty of the property and the diverse landscape it offers for long walks and runs. There are few places in Hawaii where you can enjoy a scenic 3, 6, 8, or even 15 mile run or walk without getting on a highway! The beach path to the Puako Road is about one mile from our home and it opens up an abundance of running and walking terrain that compliments the wonderful paths within the resort complex. We love Kulalani because of the newness and comfortable design of the homes and the first rate pool and fitness complex. Late at night we love to sit on the back lawn and gaze into the unbelievably clear Milky Way.

I'm hesitant to write this...

because I don't ever want to lose this incredible vacation spot! We have been coming to the Mauna Lani property for several years- Eric and Bruce's home is by far the best, and our favorite place to stay. We've even increased our vacation time over the years because Eric and Bruce make us feel like their home is our home away from home! From the location to the decor, to the wonderfully welcoming and comfortable layout of the furnishings, the well stocked kitchen, the binder of information- really VRBO-ing doesn't get much better than this. Anne is their on-island manager and is a pleasure to work with. She gets back to you immediately and everything is always an easy experience. (the garage door opener unit broke on this visit- working with Anne it was fixed within a couple of days and she stayed in contact with us in the interim.) We had friends who live on Kauai fly over and stay with us a few days- they couldn't believe how wonderful the home was. If you're coming to the Big Island this is the place to stay- just don't take our weeks!

Beautiful Property

We have stayed at many VRBO properties but this is the absolute BEST! The description and pictures of the townhouse are spot on. We were on the island for my son's wedding so we had a contingent of guests from the mainland coming to share this happy occasion. This was the perfect property to have a few friends gather for an informal barbeque. Plenty of space, to die for lanai and stocked to the max! The property was immaculate both inside and out. Our friends were highly impressed and even asked for the information for this rental.

The property is located 30 minutes from Kona and in the other direction, 30 minutes from Waimea. We had breakfast in Waimea at the Hawaiian Style Cafe. The pancakes are the biggest (the size of a dinner plate), most fluffy pancakes I've ever eaten! Their corned beef is really good too, and the POG is the best I've had! They make their own POG . Two doors down from the restaurant is a neat little antique store with a lot of hawaiian pieces. A great place to browse or buy as you're waiting for a table at the cafe.

Without a doubt, I would return to this townhouse when on the Big Island. It was a joy to awake in this beautiful home!

Anne, the property manager handled the details and everything went smoothly. Lock box code and directions were provided on time as promised.

Paradise in paradise

This beautifully-decorated, extremely well-appointed vacation home is welcoming no matter what you favor: spread out and relax at the condo, pool complex or beach club all day; explore the Big Island's many delights and return to this welcoming home base; or, like our group, combine work and play. We held a company offsite here, working at the big dining room table inside during the afternoons and taking strategic breaks to explore, enjoy and relax.

Exceeded Our Expectations!

This home is absolutely beautiful inside and out - we stayed in July 2016 for 6 nights. The relaxing lanai was one of our favorite places to be - for eating and relaxing. The kitchen and bathrooms are well-stocked, making it easy to not have to think about all those small things you might otherwise feel you have to bring or purchase while on vacation.

Every room was tastefully decorated (makes me want to redo my home). The living room has a nice sized TV, a wonderful selection of CDs with a speaker system throughout the home, what a treat! The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable.

There is plenty of beach equipment to use, a washer and dryer, which makes not having to over-pack a bonus plus access to the Beach Club and pool amenities. Speaking of which, we used the pool/hot tub/exercise room just about every day and visited the beach club two times. The weather was perfect and snorkeling a lot of fun there.

We would come back to Kulalani in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks Eric, Bruce and Anne for the use of your home and a highlight of our trip.

Simply the best!

This was our second stay in this wonderful vacation home. We came home after the first stay and immediately booked it for this year! The home is perfectly placed within the complex for a feeling of privacy yet close to the gorgeous pool and gym. We are a couple traveling with a 6 year old. The home had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The kitchen is especially well equipped. We love the big island and have all our favorite places mapped out. We only went to the beach club once but it was very nice.

We thank Eric & Bruce for opening their home to us. And thank you Anne for all the special attention to detail. Kulalani is one of our families favorite words;-)

Great Location!

We have been coming to the Islands for over forty years, and have made several trips to the Big Island. We have stayed in a variety of hotel and condo accommodations, including a prior stay at Kulalani in a different unit, and next door at KaMilo. This unit provides by far the best value we have found, and we would not hesitate to return to this lovely and very well equipped home. Eric and Bruce have thoughtfully provided everything needed, including a full range of beach equipment. We enjoyed every minute of our stay!
