About Beth Maxwell

This house is owned by ,Beth and Max. Max and Beth have been married for 30 years and spent that time in Colorado with their 4 children and 4 grands while taking many visits to their favorite place, the beach. Now we are putting our experience into having a house that we wish had been available for us.

Beth Maxwell purchased this house in 2012

Why Beth Maxwell chose Texas Gulf Coast

We have vacationed with our children and Texas family forever. This is a favorite area for us, away from the noise of the seawall but close enough to visit when we want to enjoy the downtown Galveston area. We have wanted to own for years and the opportunity became available and we went for it. This house will embrace you and welcome you in when you arrive, it is that kind of place. Warm, inviting, relaxing, embracing, you will feel like you have come home.

What makes this house unique

When you are coming down the road this little blue house stands out from the others. It is a cute cottage with great views of the water without being right on the beach. The fenced yard has 11 palm trees and lots of grass for all kinds of games, and a break from the sand. It is cool and refreshing to lay around and read a book in the hammock, or play a little volley ball.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I'm so sorry for the misunderstanding! The downstairs bedrooms were locked but the bath and laundry and refrigerator that are downstairs are always available. Next time you'll know!

I'm glad it didn't upset your stay.

Nice views and easy walk to beach

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed spending Spring Break at Anchors Away. The property is clean, well maintained, well equipped and cozy. My husband and I and 3 young kids (6, 3, and 10 mos), stayed with my sis in law and her two boys (12 and 8). The kids were entertained with toys, games, puzzles, coloring, sand toys...you don't have to bring any of that stuff. The older ones loved the pool table and foosball. There was a high chair, pack n play, and bed rail, again less stuff to bring. The kitchen is very well equipped and cooking items seem new and in good shape. We loved the open layout. Great views of the ocean from inside and out. Beach is a short walk or you can drive onto the beach if you like. We like the convenience of a car with all the kids and our stuff, but we walked back and forth easily. The only thing to make note of is to bring toilet paper and trash bags. Beth did say to bring paper goods, but those were two items we overlooked and had to make a store run.

Great space family (or friends) get-together

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Beth'S beach house. The location is great (easy to find and close to the beach). We loved that the front view is a large piece of land (and not more houses) which gave a feeling of spaciousness. Plus the house is close enough to the beach to hear the waves.

There are so many sleeping options. The 3 bedrooms upstairs are very clean and comfortable (sheets in my bed were soft!). We even rented an additional bedroom downstairs for more privacy.

The kitchen is well stocked although you have to supply your own paper items and soaps - but every cooking utensil or serving platter imaginable was there for use. I really loved how open and spacious the living area and kitchen area was. Also lots of options for sitting and lounging inside and outside. The weather was a bit iffy during our stay so we were mostly indoors but never felt cramped.

We definitely made some treasured family memories and would rent again in the future.

PS - We were pleasantly surprised that there is a pack and play and a bed safety rail available for use - - chair booster too!

Owner's Response: I really like conversing with Serena, she was easy to work with. I have never had a guest leave the house looking like it wasn't even used. Not a thing was out of place if the linens to be washed hadn't been in the basket I would have thought housekeeping was already there. I hope to see them again.

AWESOME!!

  • 5 of 5

Our first time stay at the beach home, VERY nice! It was perfect, the location was perfect also, not to far from everything and the house was set back just enough so you did not hear all the traffic on the road .Beds and bathrooms and kitchen was very spacious, it felt like home!! ( the deck was the best to have coffee on and watch the sun rise) The owner was awesome at helping with the the rental!! We will be back maybe sooner than next Lone Star Rally!! Thanks again!!

The perfect beach vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

Beth knows what it takes to have a good time at the beach.... easy access to beach and food, good a/c, comfortable and roomy accommodations, complete kitchen set up and a view. It is one of the few dog friendly rentals I could find that had a completely fenced and very large yard for my pets. The furnishings are perfect for the beach, not so nice you don't want to use them but clean and comfortable seating for all. She was very prompt to answer all questions and very easy to work with. I highly recommend you rent this cabin, you won't regret it.

Owner's Response: This was a great guest, we had a snafu with the internet while they were visiting and they let the technician in to fix it, without ragging on me.which I appreciated. They left the house in good order and didn't take or break anything. I hope they come back.
