Bayfield House Rental Photos and Description

Single-Family 3 bedroom/3 bath w/Lake Views, Sleeps 8-10

Perched hundreds of feet above Lake Vallecito, this professionally managed, 2-story floor plan with two living areas opens up to the stunning views of the massive lake and mountain peaks. Looking through grand windows, three sliding glass doors or sitting outside on one of the two decks provide aerial landscapes that will take your breath away!

CO Sales Tax #30377430

Wildlife abounds at your doorstep, with the chipmunks and deer at play. Hummingbirds flutter at the deck, while eagles soar above the boaters on the lake. Vallecito Lake, sheltered in a mountain valley 8,000 feet above the sea, is one of the largest and most beautiful lakes in Colorado. The San Juan National Forest and Weminuche Wilderness, over 2.5 million acres of public land, surround Vallecito Lake and touch the north boundary of this spectacular mountain retreat. Families can hike or horseback directly to the wilderness area and the Continental Divide.

Three rock fireplaces provide warmth to the master bedroom and two living areas. Vaulted ceilings showcase the T&G wood ceiling and floor to ceiling windows. The house was recently furnished, freshly decorated and has all new bedding. The spacious kitchen and open floorplan is perfect for entertaining. The small kitchenette downstairs provides additional comforts for large families or two family stays. The two car garage and walk off 2nd story porch provides added comfort.

Summer or winter, this location is for those who want to experience the adrenaline of mountain lake experiences and skiing or just want to relax and enjoy the beauty of the wilderness and the star-filled skies at night.

Fall brings beautiful colors and fishing opportunities in the two rivers that continually feed the lake. The house is situated above Doc’s Marina and timing the lake’s salmon run is a lasting event in itself. With over 50 miles of streams and numerous ‘hike in’ mountain lakes, the opportunities to catch rainbows, brookies, browns, and cutthroats are like the views, endless. Larger Pike, Rainbow and Brown Trout troll the lake. The adjacent wilderness area is Colorado's largest, and adventurers can hunt and hike on 500 miles of trails. The changing of the season provides a unique panoramic view of trees in color. This 1 acre property will provide a base camp to exceed expectations.

Winter snowmobiling and cross country skiing at the lake can be enhanced by short drives to Durango Mountain Resort/Purgatory and Wolf Creek. These renowned ski areas have had some of the best snow conditions in the country the last few years.

Weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this house and we had such an awesome experience. It was big and spacious. The view's were unbelievable. We went down to the lake one day to rent a boat and fish, and went into durango another day to white water raft and tour the town. It only took about 35 minutes to get to durango, and about another 30-45 minutes to get to mesa verde. We absolutely loved this place and will definitely choose to stay at this house if we could back this way. I would (and have) highly recommend this house to anyone looking for the perfect vacation.

Nice and relaxing! Perfect views!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a relaxing get away and this house was perfect! Close enough to facilities if we needed something small from the general store or a quick bite to eat at the little restaurant. Perfect view of the lake and not far from the house when we wanted to go fish. Deer were in the yard pretty much every day. So fun to watch! We were there with another couple and the layout of the house was perfect! Had a nice cozy fire in the fireplace on a rainy night. It was absolutely fabulous. Would go again and would recommend to others!!!

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We were 3 generations of family traveling to Vallecito for a backpacking trip. This place is perfect for families with many people (we had 9) because of the 2 levels. Half can be upstairs and half can be downstairs and you don't feel like you are crawling all over one another. With the balconies on both front and rear of the property, we were able to spread out and find little nooks for reading and enjoying the view. Heaven's View it is! We were very worried about the heat as the home has no A/C but the breeze comes right through and cools the home down. The bottom living area was down right no issues at all with the lack of A/C.

Sometimes it's hard to "rate" because everyone's expectations are different. My 5-star review is one of a semi-rustic cabin in the woods overlooking a gorgeous lake. There are of course items that could be improved. The towels used for showering seemed very well worn and the beds (at least in the downstairs area) were not very comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you would need for cooking and they graciously told us to use whatever was in the cabinets (olive oil, hot chocolate, spices to name a few). We left contributions as well that we could not take with us.

We've stayed in a half dozen places in and around the Vallecito lake area and this property ranks up there as one of our favorites that we would not hesitate to rent again. Thanks for sharing your home!

Terrific place. If anything the pictures don't do it justice. I would definitely be a repeat customer.

Ideal Vacation Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful home! Spacious and well equipped. Large kitchen was inviting and encouraged us to cook our meals so we didn't have to leave! Can't say enough about the incredible view and the peace and quiet. Enjoyed the frequent visits from the wildlife that reside in the area. We were lucky enough to be there to watch the total eclipse of the full moon. Already planning our next visit.
