The Manor house is a XVII century listed building, with 3 independent apartments, placed in the oldest part of Porto in the heart of the historical center that has just been classified as world heritage. Belonging to my family since the XIX century it has just been recently restored. Placed in a strategic position it has great views over the river Douro, it only takes 5 minutes walking to down town or in direction to the river front, which is a magic place were still is possible to feel the mood of a romantic XIX century sea port .The street were the house is located, one of the oldest streets in Porto, it is very quite with almost no traffic.
It is the ideal place to feel this old shipping town and at the same time to relax. You can walk to visit the wine cellars they are at about 15 minutes distance, and the sea front is at 40 minutes walking by the river side.

Rua de Dom Hugo street were the Manor House is placed is one of the oldest streets in Oporto. It is a very quiet an peacefull neighborhood, with almost no trafic, seems like a village inside the city.
The owner lives in the same building.
Alexandre, is one of two owners that is living in the same building were the apartment is placed. Is main occupation is to take care of the estate and welcome the guests and make shure that their confort is guaranteed.
Unique property, with over 300 years old. The Manor is a listed building, placed on Dom Hugo Street, in a quiet and safe neighborhood.
Great Location, very quiet street, safe. Turned to south you may enjoy the sunshine all day long. Incredible views. Vert spacious.
We rented this amazing apartment for two weeks and had a wonderful stay. Its proximity to the cathedral made it easy to get to the sights of Porto. The train station is just down the hill and small bakery and grocery store a block away. Larger grocery store was a 15 minute walk.Alexandre was so very helpful in making our stay easy. My husband uses a cane and still managed the steps into the apartment t as well as the hilly, cobbled street leading to it.
We used the funicular to go down and up from the river, since we couldn't walk the stairs by the apt.
The apartment was very spacious with a huge kitchen and living room. What sold us on the accommodation was the view-spectacular!! The bedrooms are also large with bright light from the windows.
We would highly recommend this apartment and suggest you stay as long as possible in this wonderful city!!
This is a fantastic apartment. We have rented well over 30 apartments throughout the world, and this is by far, one of the most interesting. First, it is huge. The living room is large enough for a huge dining table, a couch, and a buffet table....all spread out. The two bedrooms are comfortable. And, there is a storage room (could be a third bedroom if it were set up). The kitchen has a table for eating.....and plenty of work space. In addition there is a center open hall area.
Although you have the sense of being in a very old (18th century) building, there are all the conveniences of the 21st century. The only ones lacking are air conditioning, a dishwasher, and a clothes dryer!
The location is excellent. It is steps from the cathedral and very close to the stairs down to the river. Of course, in Porto, you will always have to walk up and down some steps l(usually a lot) or a hill to get anywhere.
The only negative to the apartment is that it is noisy. We wanted the windows to be open to get the breeze at night. There was music playing across the river, the trains were running, and dogs barked at 3:00 a.m. (for 10 minutes or more). I think this is due to the location. If there were air conditioning you could close up the unit and have quiet at night. My advice is to bring ear plugs!
Despite the noise, we would definitely return.
REALLY, we have traveled a lot and this has to be the absolute best location with sensational views, we have ever had the privilege of staying in.
Views of the river, the most amazing bridge, and the other side of town simply captivated us every time we walked past any of the several windows in this apartment. We could "taste" the port lodges across the river with our eyes, and yes, we did do a port wine tasting.....its sort of compulsory! We fell in love with this city, being able to get to all major sites v easily with the Metro a stone's throw away, the funicular ( great value at the end of the day or night to return home....Porto is really an up and down kind of place ) a few minutes away, buses, trams...its so well located. Given that trams run over the Luiz bridge, which is so close to the apartment, I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was there, and I am a light sleeper.
Rustic in style, but with all the mod cons, it is a very spacious, quasi warehouse ape of space only one level up from the street.
Alexandre was very helpful with orientation, organising taxis, and extra linen ( no charge ) and general information. He even has a netbook available for guests use!
On one of our 3 days it poured with rain, we got soaked, but didn't care because we were going "home" to our apartment.....and it just felt like home.
Would we stay here if we revisited Porto....a resounding YES !!!
Cafe Majestic....do the High Tea! Rua Santa Catarina...about 15 walk downtown.
D. Tonho restaurant in Gaia or Ribeira, both offer great views ( and food )
Others on the Ribeira ..we tried 2 others, can't remember names...all good
Pasteis de Nata....if you are a custard tart fan.....mmmmm, found everywhere.
Do the Red or Yellow Bus tour....great for orientation
Foz area was worth a look, unfortunately rained the day we went, but beaches looked nice
My husband, our 3 year old son and myself stayed here at the beginning of August.
The apartment was wonderful. It was very clean, had everything we needed and, it has to be said, with some of the best views I have ever seen. We spent hours standing at the windows watching Porto life going by. Our son especially loved watching the Metro trains going over the bridge. The apartment seemed to be bigger than we had expected as there was a third room which was used to store our cases, had an ironing board, clothes horse etc in it, which was really handy. We loved the location as it was only a short walk to all the facilities.
Alexandre was so helpful and friendly. He gave us excellent instructions on how to find the apartment, was there to greet us, and periodically kept in touch with us throughout our stay to check things were fine, but without being intrusive.
We would definitely recommend this apartment and, if we came back to stay in Porto, this would be our first choice.
L'appartement est au coeur du cartier historique. On ne peut pas demander mieux pour la localisation. Il est vraiment très beau et très spacieux. Je le recommande...
De plus la vue est magnifique...
The apartment is in a great location being near the cathedral and only a very short walk into the city centre and railway station. The views over the river and bridge are fantastic. The apartment was very clean and comfortable.
Alexandre was the perfect host giving suggestions for restaurants and where to begin the Douro Valley trip. Thank you.
A really good place to stay in Porto and we would return if visiting there again.
Manor House is located in the most noble part of Porto. Close to the Cathedral, and other major monuments of the town cultural heritage.
Large apartment, in a iconic and historic building in old Porto quarter.
A few minutes away from Por wine cellars.
