amazing location

  • 5 of 5

Great little condo in an amazing setting, right on a fantastic beach to walk and enjoy. The condo was very comfortable, had all necessary amenities for a couple or a small family. The bedrooms are open so there is limited privacy. Kitchen is small but very adequate for making meals. Good restaurant on site and a nice pool area - but it is the beach/ocean and mountain view that makes this place spectacular!

Spectacular location

  • 5 of 5

I recommend this for families with 1-2 kids. We have 2 kids ages 12,14 and the area with 2 twin beds worked out perfectly for them. The two bathrooms is a big help, though the 3/4 bath shower is very tiny, I believe most people will just use the shower in the full bath. We used the small cooler that was provided for the beach and also the 2 beach chairs. The internet worked very well. The pictures give you an accurate depiction of the unit. We also used the pool and jacuzzi, usually no one was there. The jacuzzi was very warm, the pool area is green, lush and very relaxing. Parking was convenient. The unit was not noisy at all, except for the sound of the ocean.

Love on the Cheap

  • 4 of 5

Great location, first and foremost. HCR is without frills, but who cares when you right on the ocean. If it's windy (and it was) you will be serenaded by the wind whistling through your louvers all night. But so what? Enjoy coffee every morning at the art gallery on the property. Beach presents tough walking through very deep sloped sands. I'm coming back though, because HCR beats all the traffic and congestion found elsewhere.

Retro view of paradise

  • 5 of 5

We love to sit and read and gaze out at the sea. The week we stayed, the weather was tumultuous and dynamic. Howling wind, rain, a bit chilly... a different Kauai vacation than we imagined. The view from the condo made everything perfect, and the "beach cabin fever" was cured at the resort's pool & hot tub, or by walking on the beach. The condo is very simple. It feels like you are transported back to the 60's or 70's. It's very basic and retro. The cool rattan furniture has recently been re-upholsterered, but it should be noted that the coffee table and chairs are easy to stub your toes on :) We had everything we needed, but it would have been nice to have a few more dishes (there is no dishwasher).

We tend to eat at home on vacation. We enjoyed the Waipa and Hanalei Farmer's markets. The Dolphin Fish Market in Hanalei has amazing giant sushi rolls, and fantastic fresh fish. We used the grill down at the pool most nights, which was fun.. Sadly, the pool hours are only 8am-10pm. There were a few time we would have enjoyed it earlier or later.

The beach in front of the condo is great for walking, but it's usually too dangerous to swim. There are close beach options toward the end of the road, but if you want the calmer beaches, you may need to head clockwise around the island. The Limahuli Gardens are spectacular, barely 5 minutes away. This spot is just amazing.

Aloha.

We tend to cook-in on vacation. We enjoyed the Waipa and Hanalei Farmer's Markets, and shopped at Foodland in Princeville for everything else. The Dolphin Fish Market in Hanalei has amazing giant sushi rolls, and fantastic fresh fish. We used the grill down at the pool most nights, which was fun. Sadly the pool hours are only 8am-10pm. There were a few times we would have enjoyed it earlier or later.

The beach in front of the condo is great for walking, and sometimes has cool shells, but is usually too dangerous to swim in. There are close beach options toward the end of the road, but if you want the calm beaches, you may need to head clockwise around the island. The Limahuli Gardens are spectacular, barely 5 minutes away... and an amazing view of the sunset is not far either, at Ke'e Beach. We can't wait to return.

Mahalo.

Wayyyyyyy Better Than a Hotel

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in this unit 2 years ago. It is an amazing value - cheaper than most hotels or condos when you factor in you have your own kitchen. I have not seen any place on the Hawaiian Islands where you can sleep closer to the water. You literally step off your lanai into the sand. This is a very secluded part of the island so if you're looking for nightlife, go somewhere else. We didn't have to share the beach with anyone the entire time we were there. Only a 5-10 minute drive to Hanalei for shopping and restaurants, and the Mediterranean Gourmet restaurant on site is phenomenal. I recommend the beachside massage. The ocean itself can get a little wild here in winter so not small kid friendly at that time of year. It's not really 2 separate bedrooms, just a wood divider between the two sleeping areas so not a ton of privacy for two couples, but perfect for one couple or a couple with children.
