Hanalei Colony Resort #G-1 - TAT #W-40377676-01

Hanalei Colony Resort is situated on the unspoiled north shore of Kauai, and like the island itself, unplugged from the busied pace of the outside world. After crossing seven one-lane bridges you will reach the resort, and immediately become immersed in the surroundings. Towering emerald green mountains streaming with waterfalls provided an awe-inspiring backdrop while the soothing waves of the big blue Pacific Ocean beckon upon your arrival. Comfort and serenity abounds, from the lush tropical landscape that covers the five-acre property to the open concept two bedroom condominiums, complete with full kitchen and contemporary, island inspired furnishings. The unit has no television or phone( but has WIFI dedicated for this unit) and their sounds are replaced with that of a simpler Hawaii‚ birds singing, the surf caressing the sandy shore, and trees swaying with the ocean breeze. There's a beautiful pool on site, a guest laundry area and a delicious restaurant next door with a delightful coffee shop. This is the place to unplug for the ultimate in relaxation. The unit features a King bedroom, and another bedroom with 2 twin beds, 2 baths-one with a tub, and a full kitchen Available nightly or weekly. This unit is non smoking

$225 outclean. Deposit is $400. Sleeps 4 maximum including children..

Retro view of paradise

  • 5 of 5

We love to sit and read and gaze out at the sea. The week we stayed, the weather was tumultuous and dynamic. Howling wind, rain, a bit chilly... a different Kauai vacation than we imagined. The view from the condo made everything perfect, and the "beach cabin fever" was cured at the resort's pool & hot tub, or by walking on the beach. The condo is very simple. It feels like you are transported back to the 60's or 70's. It's very basic and retro. The cool rattan furniture has recently been re-upholsterered, but it should be noted that the coffee table and chairs are easy to stub your toes on :) We had everything we needed, but it would have been nice to have a few more dishes (there is no dishwasher).

We tend to eat at home on vacation. We enjoyed the Waipa and Hanalei Farmer's markets. The Dolphin Fish Market in Hanalei has amazing giant sushi rolls, and fantastic fresh fish. We used the grill down at the pool most nights, which was fun.. Sadly, the pool hours are only 8am-10pm. There were a few time we would have enjoyed it earlier or later.

The beach in front of the condo is great for walking, but it's usually too dangerous to swim. There are close beach options toward the end of the road, but if you want the calmer beaches, you may need to head clockwise around the island. The Limahuli Gardens are spectacular, barely 5 minutes away. This spot is just amazing.

Aloha.

We tend to cook-in on vacation. We enjoyed the Waipa and Hanalei Farmer's Markets, and shopped at Foodland in Princeville for everything else. The Dolphin Fish Market in Hanalei has amazing giant sushi rolls, and fantastic fresh fish. We used the grill down at the pool most nights, which was fun. Sadly the pool hours are only 8am-10pm. There were a few times we would have enjoyed it earlier or later.

The beach in front of the condo is great for walking, and sometimes has cool shells, but is usually too dangerous to swim in. There are close beach options toward the end of the road, but if you want the calm beaches, you may need to head clockwise around the island. The Limahuli Gardens are spectacular, barely 5 minutes away... and an amazing view of the sunset is not far either, at Ke'e Beach. We can't wait to return.

Mahalo.

Wayyyyyyy Better Than a Hotel

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in this unit 2 years ago. It is an amazing value - cheaper than most hotels or condos when you factor in you have your own kitchen. I have not seen any place on the Hawaiian Islands where you can sleep closer to the water. You literally step off your lanai into the sand. This is a very secluded part of the island so if you're looking for nightlife, go somewhere else. We didn't have to share the beach with anyone the entire time we were there. Only a 5-10 minute drive to Hanalei for shopping and restaurants, and the Mediterranean Gourmet restaurant on site is phenomenal. I recommend the beachside massage. The ocean itself can get a little wild here in winter so not small kid friendly at that time of year. It's not really 2 separate bedrooms, just a wood divider between the two sleeping areas so not a ton of privacy for two couples, but perfect for one couple or a couple with children.
