Great place to stay
Rental property was well maintained. Great view of lake from backyard, and 5-minute walk to downtown. Enjoyed the green space in front and back and kids loved playing in the pool with the provided noodles.
The house was nice and clean when we arrived. The community pool was perfect for our little kids. It was very walkable to the downtown area. We would definitely stay here again the next time we visit Saugatuck.
Nice cottage, close to down town, but too many rules
We really liked the cottage, it was small but comfortable. We were able to walk to the city, very nice. The pool was good as well. There were just too many rules to follow, it felt like we had to double check everything every moment (heating/cooling to be set at a certain degrees, sheets, trash, towels, dishes etc.). Just saying keep it like 'your' home is enough in my opinion and if people ruin the place, hold their deposit. Just my 2 cents.
Other than that, we had a good time.
We really enjoyed our stay
Sister's week end
My two sisters and I stayed the week end at this condo. The pictures were just like the home, it was clean and comfortable. It was at a good location and we walked into town. I would highly recommend this place if someone was looking for a vacation place in Saugatuck.
The unit was okay. Nice kitchen and family room area and the master bedroom was nice, but the single bathroom was poor. 1 sink, stained tub and shower curtain, mold on the shower head, etc. And, for the price we paid, I would think the unit and the service would have been much better. Specifically, the confirmation email stated there would be a book on the counter with all information needed for our stay, yet the book on the counter was for local restaurants, etc. There was a piece of paper that gave the basics (check in/out times, etc.), and it was not written in a friendly manner (i.e. do not ask to come early as this is not allowed, do not ask to stay later than checkout time as this is not allowed, etc.). There was no mention of not using the gas valve for the fireplace and no "do not use" label on the valve, yet when I called about the fireplace the man I spoke with seemed clueless that a valve even existed. He said the fireplace was real and do not turn on any gas?? What would have happened if I turned on the gas valve and tried to light the wood in the fireplace?? And yes, gas did come out of the fireplace when I turned the valve. Also, there was no toilet paper on the role in the powder room and no towels in the powder room, and the dishwasher had many dishes and glasses in it. The instructions told us we HAD to run the dishwasher with any dirty dishes, yet if the previous renter did that, wouldn't the cleaning people emptied the dishwasher? You might think this last item is petty, but when the instructions and confirmation email is written in a stern and non-welcoming manner at all, I would expect that the cleaning service was equally held accountable. I guess that only goes for the paying renters. We travel to Saugatuck at least once a year, and have staying in many wonderful places, but I can assure you we will not stay here again.
We apologize that we fell short for your stay. We would have been more than happy to address the items during your stay had we been notified and they been requested. There is a book on the counter for each guest as well as electronic copy's emailed to each guest of recommendations with links to each one. We unfortunately can not allow early check ins or late check outs and communicate that politely with please. It is a wood burning fireplace and we have taken the gas valve key out. We have replaced the shower head and the shower curtain. Thank you and again we apologize that we fell short.
