We started coming to the Avon, NC in the mid 1970's. At that time, there was only a handful of realtors and one restaurant on Avon. As fate might have it... I lost my glasses in the surf. There was not a telephone in the house we were renting, so I had to go to a real estate office to use their phone. I jokingly asked, ' do you have any property to sell'. Breeze Bay was built in 1994. After many years of hard work and continous updating, Breeze Bay is our pride and joy. We hope you will love it as much as we do.
The Outer Banks is unique. Most people think only of the ocean when they come to the OBX. We LOVE the beach too, and go almost every day we are here. What makes Breeze Bay great is it's location. We have a GREAT lot with 150 feet of bulk head, with a manicured lawn up to the edge of the bulkhead. This allows for many water activities such a Kayaking ( 2 are provided) fishing, crabbing, paddle boarding, and windsurfing/kite boarding. The lawn is designed to complement the bulkhead, giving Breeze Bay and additional area for outdoor recreation. Enjoy picnics and outdoor games on the water's of the Pamlico Sound.
The 'Widow Watch' deck on the 4th floor gives panoramic 360 degrees views of beautiful Hatteras Island. The Hot Tub is a great way to relax while enjoying the beach atmosphere.
My friends and have stayed at Breeze Bay for years and never been disappointed.
If you truly want a getaway with no "surprises ", I suggest choosing Breeze Bay
We stayed at Breeze Bay September 10-17. The home is well appointed, clean and well kept. I stayed with my mom, my husband, and my 3 children, so 6 people. The home had life jackets and kayaks. There were board games, movies, cable tv in all bedrooms and the living room. One of my favorite things was the quiet of the house itself. I didn't hear my kids in their rooms with their tvs on. I didn't hear my mom upstairs in her room. I didn't hear the garbage truck, it was awesome! We had a great time playing cards, cooking, watching movies and just being together! We are a family that eats in on vacation so having what I needed to cook was important to me. There were plenty of dishes, pots and utensils. The dining room had seating for 8 at the table plus another table for 4. We were only about 5 minutes from the ramp 34 beach access. There were no traffic issues. The grocery store is down the street about 2 stop lights, the dollar store and restaurants are also close. It is a fairly quiet place very relaxing for us. The house must have been recently remodeled. The tile in the kitchen and baths was beautiful. Faucets were nice too. The furniture was nice. There were no loose knobs, shower rods etc which means someone actually cares for the property and that's kind of rare these days. The home's description and tips on the site are great, but I'd add a couple. Being a Saturday turn over the grocery store was packed! I think this is mentioned, (not stressed) but I never thought that many people would fit in one store. Definitely carry staples, order out that first and go to the store later. I am going to spring for shore detail grocery delivery next time! Also the mosquitoes down there are huge....be prepared. They are everywhere even inside the ice cream shop down the street! I would also gas up before I left the mainland or Nags Head. Fuel on the islands was about 30 cents a gallon higher when we were there. I would stay again, and working with Dan was smooth and a pleasure! Thank you for letting us enjoy your home!
We had five adults for a week and there was enough room for everyone's comfort. If you are opposed to stairs, then the Outer Banks may not be for you, as everything is on stilts pretty much. After a week, my senior body was getting good at getting up to the top level- the exercise was good. The laundry is on the 1st level; three bedrooms on the 2nd - one queen with an en suite, one queen without; one has two sets of bunk beds and an en suite; but there is another bath across the hall, so technically, all three bedrooms can have their own bath. All the bedrooms open onto a deck, two of them into the hot tub (clean!) screened-in porch. The inside staircase has a landing half way up each level. The 3rd floor has the kitchen-living-dining area, a bathroom and the king bedroom (not en suite, but bath is right outside the door). There are TVs in each bedroom and the living room. The kitchen sink overlooks the pond outside. There is a single sleeping porch on the top level, but it is not air-conditioned. The top level deck goes up one more flight to what we called the Sunset Deck, as it is roof-top level with a view to the sound. You can see a TINY glimpse of the ocean - Hey, it's NOT sound front, but IS pond-front, and that is an interesting feature. A few quick paddles on the supplied kayaks (two adult, one child's) and you ARE in the sound. Folks do swim in the pond - and we saw birds, turtles and fish. There's a nice dock for your boat or kayak. The views from the third level include obstructed sound views, but fairly good, and the sky view is superior. The yard is grassy and maintained. Bring your towels, including kitchen and bath mats. Linens provided are clean, white cotton - adequate. The mattresses and pillows were very good. The kitchen is well supplied - we never ate one meal out, and didn't bump into each other while preparing food or drinks. Quiet neighborhood. Food Lion about 1.5 miles. Had one bit of trouble with the AC, but called Dan and within a few hours, it was fixed. The beach club we used for beach and pier parking, and there's a nice pool. You're very close to the National Seashore access, too. In summer, prepare yourself for traffic issues going and coming onto the island. But at least you'll have the unique Outer Banks environment to enjoy if you get slowed down. We felt right at home! We DID NOT want to leave, and usually we get homesick after a week. Thank you, Dan, for allowing us this memorable vacation in your beautiful home.
Dan's place worked out perfect for me, and my family. We had a total of ten, and it worked out great. I was in contact with him several times before, and during the trip. He returned my calls, and text messages ASAP. I can't think of much more then what everyone else has already said. The house was clean, and well stocked for whatever you may need, especially the kitchen. The house was well maintained, and a great location. There were several places to eat and shop with-in a mile or so. Klub Koru had a nice pool, tiki hut, and a beautiful spa across the street. We got out a lot, and enjoyed the beach and pool, but I also enjoyed the house just as much. Nice dinners at home, adult beverages mixed all night, and just relaxing, and enjoying the quiet location. I give it a thumbs up, and will recommended it to anyone I hear talking about a trip to the Avon area.
We are a family of 7 and this home allowed everyone some to spread out. This home was the perfect location for our family beach trip. The lot where it sits is amazing. Not only the views but the inlet was perfect for kayaking, tubing and paddle board (which we rented and had delivered). The kids rode bikes all over on the sidewalks and made a daily trip to the DQ which is within walking distance.
The home itself is perfect. It is so well equipped. So many homes offer exactly 8 plates, cups, etc. Not this home! Tons of dishes, glasses, cookware. The kitchen was so well equipped it made cooking easy!!!
The private club membership was the cherry on top! We bought tickets to the weekly luau and 4th of July party. There was a live concert, food and swimming pool. It wasn't over crowded and the kids had a blast.
We can't recommend this home enough. We were sad to leave.
We were very pleased with our vacation! Even on the couple of rainy day we could use the hot tub & watch TV. We didn't feel cramped in the roomy house's great room. We fished & kayaked in the sound right outside & grilled on one of the many decks. The beach access at the pier was very close where we had a chance to fish as well as clean bathrooms. We decided this was our #2 favorite vacation only behind Disney World! Thanks so much for for sharing your house. 😊
