We live 1 1/2 hrs north of Toronto in the country. This apt has been our urban escape for years and we love it. It's bright, happy and located in our favorite part of Toronto.
We have recently renovated the 3rd floor apt (previously used for long-term rentals) and have moved upstairs.
We come down to the city approximately every 1-2 weeks. We have used VRBO ourselves and hope to provide guests a comfortable, stress free experience with easy availability to us at all times.
Dan or Tessa purchased this apartment in 2006
We love the tranquility of living, isolated, on a farm. However, intermittently, it's interesting and fun to immerse ourselves in an urban environment and our property is what we consider a perfect location to do so. We've traveled extensively and although each location is unique, Queen st w. Toronto is our favorite, due primarily to the multi-ethnic aspect of the place and proximity to various interesting venues.
We loved this apartment!!! It's much larger than it appears in the pictures. The colorful, artistic decor makes you smile every time you step in the door! The furnishings are very comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked and the linens are of high quality. The internet, television and air conditioning worked very well. The shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. We appreciated having use of a nice washer and dryer.
We enjoyed having drinks on the private patio after a long day of sightseeing. It's a lively neighborhood with a wide variety of restaurants, bars and shops right outside the door. As others have noted, the busy street in front is quite noisy but is easily silenced by closing the living room windows. The bedroom is in the back and very quiet.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention our delightful hosts! Booking and check-in was very smooth and Dan and Tessa were quite accommodating. This apartment is on the 2nd floor and they live on the 3rd. They own the entire building which is very, very secure. They had great suggestions for restaurants and things to see and do. They were available but not intrusive and we enjoyed chatting with them. Our damage deposit was refunded the day after we checked out.
You will not be disappointed by this apartment! I only hope it is available the next time we visit Toronto.
Thanks Dan and Tessa!!
This was our second stay at Tessa and Dan's place, and we loved it. We stayed there an entire month!!! Our intention was to experience living in downtown Toronto in a hip residential area and you can't get more hip and fun than this location. Snuggled between shops like Anthropologie and fancy shoe boutiques, a stone's throw from Downward Dog Yoga studio and PureBarre Studio, both of which I visited daily, surrounded by great cafes (R2 Squared and Jimmy's were our go-to coffee shops) and great food, and in the vicinity of a lovely park, this condo is great. We had everything we need to make it our home for the month-long stay. The owners are super friendly and check in on you and make sure you have all you need. The place is clean and they even got me a blender so I could make my green smoothies! Thank God they had A/C as we were in Toronto in August (not very smart in hindsight, even Canada gets brutal summers ;))! but the A/C was fabulous and functioned perfectly! The WiFi is excellent and that's important when you have video and audio conference calls with clients the globe over, and the washer and dryer make it so nice to extend your limited wardrobe. All in all, I can't say enough great things about this wonderful condo, which is now our home away from home, and I can't wait to come back with my husband for another stay.
This is a great home I would recommend to anyone. My wife, four year old and myself really enjoyed the comfortable apartment and neighborhood. The hosts were informative and helpful. You are within walking distance to most of the main attractions in Toronto or a quick ride on the metro. Thanks again, we really enjoyed our stay!
Our overall stay was ideal. We were more than happy with our entire stay here. The genuine hospitality of the home owners was great. From warm welcomes from Dan and his son, to the wonderful neighborhood with all the local shops at your finger tips. We really could not have chose a better home away from home. We will see you again soon. Once again, thank you for your extended gratitude on everything. It meant a lot to us!
This is our third time staying in this apartment and we still love it. The location is fabulous and the place is charming and comfortable. Tessa and Dan are wonderful, accommodating hosts.
Loved the place and Dan and Tessa and their son Jeremy, who helped us out, were very accommodating. They let us keep our bikes in the garage which really enhanced our vacation. The deck is not well kept but the rest of the place is charming and its a comfortable place to stay with a good location.
West Queen West is an artistic, multi-ethnic, funky area - recently voted by Vogue as the 'second coolest neighbourhood in the world'! On our doorstep you will find a multitude of restaurants, art galleries, theaters, hip hotels, indie boutique shopping and great people watching. TIFF bell lightbox, Roy Thompson Hall and beautiful Trinity Bellwoods park are blocks away and Lake Ontario is a 15 min walk.
