About Ray Culin

My wife and I are partners in the custom woodworking business Culin & Colella, Inc. in Mamaroneck, NY. We love spending long weekends on the Vineyard where we play golf, kayak, swim, windsurf and enjoy the great restaurants.

Ray Culin purchased this house in 1970

Why Ray Culin chose Martha's Vineyard

My Architect father designed the house which is heated by solar energy in the winter. My mother and father built most of it themselves after my father retired at 65. My mother still uses the house a couple months in the Spring. We are renting the house to keep it as a family retreat for years to come.

What makes this house unique

The house has a great deck with a beautiful view of the lagoon which is 2 miles long and is perfect for the Sunfish or Kayak/Canoe that are available to renters.

The property was perfectly located on the lagoon surrounded by trees with a wonderful breeze.

  • 5 of 5

Our family truly enjoy the property. Not only was it in a perfect Vineyard setting on the lagoon, it was comfortable & came with many extras(books, bikes, boats). It has ample space for kids to play safely, and at the same time for adults to get some peace. There was an abundance of wildlife from birds, deer, & many water creatures. The kids never got bored with the ocean just down a path. We rarely used the a/c due to the excellent location at the end of the lagoon which brought a wonderful breeze. The house's location between Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven, & Edgartown was also perfect almost equal distance to all. We hope to come back next year, and I can safely say there will be no need to search for another home to rent.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your great review. I just wish I could stay there more often myself. I hope you can return next year but reserve early. The house is getting more popular every season. Ray

Memorable experience!!!

  • 5 of 5

We really liked the house. The house was well kept and was located in an excellent location with some mesmerizing views. It was at convenient distance from the city center of vineyard havens and Oak bluffs. Ray was excellent with his prompt response and was very accommodating. If I decide to visit vineyards again I will definitely consider staying back at this location and will also recommend to other. Overall we enjoyed our stay here.

Absolutely Perfect Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at this property for a few days on a long trip through the northeast. It met every expectation we had for a Martha's Vineyard vacation! It was very comfortable, very clean, and well equipped for all that we needed. We traveled with a party of 7 (two were kids so the couch was perfect for them) and there was plenty to keep 3 generations very occupied. The kids enjoyed the kayak and the time at the lagoon while my folks were happy to just sit out on the deck and watch. The property was centrally located to all that we needed on the island. We would definitely return! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This home is lovely, well furnished, very comfortable and centrally located to Edgartown, Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven. The views from the deck are unforgettable. We ate every "home meal" on the deck...breakfast, lunch and supper (as we say in the South) with a well furnished kitchen. The home's amenities are a great value-plenty of bikes, a sailboat and what we called the "glass bottomed canoeyak" and outdoor grill. Everyone on the island was very friendly, including the neighbors. We enjoyed exploring the island and making great memories.
