This studio apartment is in an excellent location. A block and a half from the beach one way and a couple of blocks to restaurants the other way. The owner was good to work with. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip!
My wife and I booked the Vacation Station for a week while visiting Long Beach. You really cant beat the location. A block from the beach and two blocks from the trendy Second Avenue where you can find all the restaurants and shopping you will ever need! The apartment is meticulously clean and we found everything quite functional and efficient. But it is small. And despite assurances to the contrary, evening parking can be problematic. We would stay again!
Great property located about a block to a wonderful beach. It's about a block and a half to the 2nd street restaurants (try Tavern on 2- was great!), we didn't have too much trouble street parking, but Friday night not much was available. Nice that there were beach chairs and a beach umbrella to use! Very clean and had everything we needed for a two night stay. Would come again!
This apartment is in a good location for the beach and 2nd street, but being right next to an alley near a dumpster takes a little away from the greatness of the location. We did enjoy being able to walk to 2nd street for coffee in the am. Parking was not bad and it was quiet.
Our problem was the first day was hot and the air conditioner had not been on so it took until the middle of the night to really cool down. When we went to bed for the night the room was still hot. We thought we might have to move if it wasn't a lot better the next day. It was better but the a/c unit is pretty small so it needed to run constantly. The apartment does not lend itself to open windows. It was an unusually hot few days in LB during our stay. I would ask that the a/c be turned on early in the day if you are renting during a hot time in LB.
It was clean and as stated had plenty of storage area.
We did call the manager and they got back with us the next day to see if things were better. We're older so I don't think I'd recommend this place to couples that are used to staying in a nice hotel. The price and location attracted us.
One downside to this place was that when we got there after 8pm at night, the air conditioner had not been turned on and it was very warm inside; it took over an hour to cool it down. The alleyway that you had to use to get to the door was a bit seedy looking so we didn't feel comfortable leaving our door open at first.
The linens and fixtures just need a little bit of upgrade to make this place feel a bit nicer. The bed was squeaky, yet it was comfortable.
It was only 1 block to the beach and about 4 blocks to downtown Belmont Shore. I do love this area for our visits to see our son. We didn't use the kitchen but it seemed fine for a short stay. There was ice for us to use in our water bottles.
Being a few minutes walk from the beach, this property is a convenient vacation spot. Loved watching the kite boarders! There is a lot of kelp and garbage in places near the water but the fun dog beach, bike and walking path, sand volleyball games, and wide sandy beach are great. The listing description was accurate, although it was a little older apartment than the photos made me believe. The kitchen was totally updated and nice and everything freshly painted. We arrived around 2 pm and the apartment had not been cleaned. After some searching the internet on my computer (my phone service was weak and would not access the web), I located Jerry's phone number. He answered immediately and said he would send someone over. My husband and I went to lunch and bought a few groceries and arrived back around 4 pm where we found the room just being finished. Our stay was pleasant but we missed feeling comfortable opening any curtains or windows as the ground level apartment is down a narrow walkway between two apartment buildings. There is no view except to the wall of the next building. So if you are looking for an airy and light apartment at the beach, look a little further. We rented a car only one day and spent half hour or more finding a place to park as the street sweeping schedule cut the number of available parking spaces in half on the day we had the car (Thursdays and Fridays from 9 am to 11 am). On our last day after a walk on the beach, the cleaning lady was at our door around 10:30 am wanting to get in to clean for the next occupants (maybe not trying to have a recurrence of our situation). She was very pleasant and asked if she could at least get the linens to start washing. Since the washer/dryer is across the walkway, she was just outside the apartment while we showered and packed and left by 11 am. A little awkward. Overall, our stay was great (and yes, there are no hangers in the large closet, although there is plenty of storage for your clothes). The small window air conditioner was adequate. There are no condiments or paper towels in the kitchen. There is shampoo/conditioner/soap/hair dryer and nice fluffy towels. Must try the swordfish tacos and ceviche at Roe's Press--EXCEPTIONAL!
