About Peter Geiger
I am an educator and collector and divide my time between San Francisco, California, United States, Edinburgh, United Kingdom and Palma de Mallorca, Spain. I value beauty in the built environment and a walkable capital city: Edinburgh surpasses my expectations—I have never before lived in a place with so much to offer so close by.
Peter Geiger purchased this Apartment in 2012
Why Peter Geiger chose New Town
The well-regarded New Town location is close to the shops and restaurants of Broughton Street. The raised Ground Floor contains the principal rooms of the Georgian house under 13 foot ceilings. The past few years have seen a renewed interest in times gone by and I have chosen a 'Downton Abbey' theme to the furnishings and decoration using reclaimed fixtures, antique furniture and period colors.
What makes this Apartment unique
The sunny eat-in kitchen, large dining hall, sunny studio bedroom and substantial drawing room with its two vast windows make this flat a very comfortable and versatile home. The kitchen, bath and laundry have all new appliances. Two period marble fireplaces (decorative only, not working), working window shutters and an eclectic collection of objects combine to create a unique feeling of serenity.

We stayed in Peter's elegant apartment for four nights in April 2017. The rooms are spacious, the period decor and furnishings are charming, the the kitchen and bathroom were well-equipped and supplied, the bed was comfortable and the location in the New Town residential area was close enough to the centre of everything. Just a short walk from the airport tram, Princes Street, National Portrait Gallery, the Village of Dean, the Royal Botanical Garden, The Water of Leith, and Calton Hill and a slightly longer walk to the Castle, Holyrood Palace, the Scots' Parliament and Arthur's Seat.
Peter's housekeeper Anna was welcoming, charming and helpful with the one minor problem we encountered. It was reassuring to know we could reach her with a text or phone call if we needed something.
Overall we highly recommend this as an excellent pied-a-terre for enjoying Edinburgh.
What a wonderful place! Everything about it was great! Anna met us and showed us everything and how things worked. The Flat is beautiful and we enjoyed coming home to it after exploring each day. I highly recommend it and would rent it again.
This flat is a charming, eclectic, mix of Old Edinburgh + modern touches where it counts.
Peter's flat is an experience all by itself. You can enjoy The Edinburgh of yesteryear without leaving the premises. It will take you hours just to admire all the antiques and art that allows one to believe they might be in a museum instead if a modern rental. At the same time, the kitchen has everything any cook would need to fix a gourmet meal, the bathroom is completely modern, and while the bedroom allows one to think they have just stepped into the Laird's quarters, the bed is heaven after a long day of trekking up to the castle, or sampling the best of what Edinburgh's many pubs and shops have to offer. And Anna makes sure you have everything you need including an immaculate space to enjoy a sojourn to a remarkable city. In a word, delightful.
A beautiful flat in a lovely part of Edinburgh. Quiet and within easy reach of the city centre.
This is a lovely and very elegant flat in an excellent location in Edinburgh. It's ideal for visiting the city with many attractions within easy walking distance. Although in the city there are lovely views over adjoining gardens from the bedroom at the rear which was quiet and peaceful. The flat was clean and has a very well equipped kitchen plus a nice bath/shower room. It is furnished throughout with antiques which, although lovely to look at, I found the chairs less than comfortable to sit on. The only dining chairs had a rough hessian undercover and no covering upholstery , rather scratchy. Also a comfortable sofa to relax on at the end of a tiring day would be nice and a mirror / dressing table in the bedroom would have been useful. Apart from that a very nice apartment.
Quiet, spacious, elegant oasis.
This spot was a welcome retreat after the bustle of the Fringe streets. Super location; a quick walk up to town, a welcome trot down after the day. Great little restaurants, a supermarket, some interesting galleries. All logistics, info pre-arrival handled smoothly, safety deposit returned promptly. Perfect space for a couple -- the owner is a collector with an excellent eye - so take care with instructions.
Beautiful, perfect location
We will definitely stay again. The flat had everything we needed on a quiet street close to great pubs and shops, just beautiful. The check in process was seamless and Peter and his team were wonderful!! Thank you!!
Great King Street is the central avenue of Edinburgh's New Town World Heritage Site, dating from the early part of the 19th Century. The private gardens of Drummond Place lie to the eastern end and those of Royal Circus at the western end. It is particularly well suited for access to all the amenities of the city centre with George Street and Princes Street just 1/4 mile away. Waverley Train Station, with regular train services to London, is less than half a mile and there is good road access westwards towards the bypass, Edinburgh airport and Central Scotland Motorway Network. Shopping is just a short walk away is Broughton Street—with one of the best butchers and one of the best fishmongers in town.
