Meet the owners - brothers John and Scott Wade. The Wades own the property along with their sister, Julie Busenius. Pictured here is John with his sons (from left to right) Nicholas, Christopher and Tyler, Scott's daughter Alison, Scott and the Wade family dogs. All of us were born, raised and still live on beautiful Vancouver Island.
Patricia Wade purchased this cabin in 1959
Murtle Pilgrim, from Victoria BC, purchased the beach front lot to be closer to her family in Comox. In fact, Murtle's father, James Carthew, was once the mayor of Cumberland. The cabin was built in 1960 and back then it was simply one room with no bathroom, no kitchen and no running water. The cabin has been a part of the family ever since. It is the families summer beach getaway - and when you get here you will understand why they love it so much! The view is absolutely stunning!
Our cabin is private and fully winterized. Ideal for 2 people with a fully equipped kitchen. The hide-a-bed is great for an additional 2 people. There is plenty of room on the property to pitch a tent for the kids and the beautiful sandy beach is ideal for children. There is endless nature around you - plenty of eagles and herons soaring past and otters, seals and sealions that regularly swim by. Very quiet and tranquil location with the convenience of shopping and recreation just a few minutes away by car.
Paradise.....what more can you say.
My friend and I recently stayed here with our respective dogs. The cabin is just as pictured: cute on the inside, with a great kitchen that included all we needed. And the deck is wonderful! My dog enjoyed being right on the beach, walking along or just relaxing in the sand right at the house. We found it easy to get around from there. I was impressed by how much information the owners left for visitors: detailed descriptions of local sights, beaches, etc. I'd definitely stay here again!
My husband and I and our dog stayed at Pilgrim's for a month in December. It was everything the listing promised it to be and had everything we needed. The owner responded immediately and professionally to any questions and requests. We discovered that we could walk on the beach all the way to Seal Bay Park, one of our favourite places. Waking up every morning with ever-changing views of the beach, ocean, and Coastal Mountains across on the mainland was spectacular. Pilgrim's is close enough to Comox to easily access what we needed there, but far enough away to give a feeling of privacy and quietness. We would recommend it for 2 people and we hope to return some day.
Great home away from home.
Imagine sitting on the deck in the morning having a coffee and listening to and watching the Sea Lions play in the ocean!! Beautiful, clean Cottage!!! This was our second stay and we enjoyed it even more!! Great great place to bring your dogs along... they had so much fun on the little private beach!!! The cottage is in a great area and so close to all the great fun things to do in Comox and Courtney . We can't wait for another reason to stay once more!
All the comforts of home in this little cottage on the ocean. We had the warmth of the fire on the blustery cool days, the peace of the waves from the ocean and a place we were able to take our two little dogs with us who are so much part of our family. We would definitely come back.
The Comox Valley boasts some of the finest ocean beaches such as Kye Bay and Airforce Beach. The ideal place for beachcombing - when the tide is out, you can discover the fabulous intertidal marine life - starfish, moon shells, sea cucumbers and crab are plentiful.
Fishing is a popular past time here! Fresh local seafood can be bought right off the pier in Comox or try the very popular Portuguese Joe's Fish Market - a long tradition in the Comox Valley.
The Comox Military Air Base is right beside the Comox Valley Airport and has a wonderful museum for those rainy days. The base also hosts the Comox Air Show every second year - a definite must see!
Some of BC's best skiing is at Mount Washington Alpine Resort, only 40 minutes from the cabin. This resort boasts one of the most spectacular coastal alpine settings in North America with the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop on one side and scenic Strathcona Park bordering the other.
Rich with culture, the Comox Valley has many excellent art and music festivals including the Filberg Festival and the Vancouver Island Musicfest. And make sure to visit the local wineries as well as the local farmers market while you are here!
