Great home, great location, just several hundred yards from the beach.

  • 5 of 5

Spacious well maintained home with amenities galore. Home owner is extememly responsive. Rodanthe is a quiet beach with fantastic waves. You can fish from the peer right beside the house. Truly a perfect location.

5.5/5 stars - absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Can't say enough good things about our experience. Marlee was awesome to work with from start to finish. The location is great - just a 100 or so yards to the beach and a 5 min walk from kitty hawk kites and other surf stores. The beds were comfortable and there were enough bathrooms so we weren't waiting on anyone in the morning. Best of all everything worked! The pool, hot tub, pool table, and ping pong table keep everyone occupied and having a fantastic trip. If you're planning to do a lot of cooking main kitchen is a little small when cooking for 20 people but 2 grills help relieve the workload. Can't wait to come back!

House and Location are great

  • 5 of 5

We were a bit early in the season and the first rental this year. Week started 4/8. This worked for and against us, mostly for. The house is well located with views and a short walk to the beach from a cup-de-sac at the start of the pier. The kitchen is small, but works well and the social areas were really well used by our crew. There is plenty to do and the house is quite comfortable.

Marlee and her local help are very responsive and easy to deal with. She is apparently also a dog lover and welcomed our two goldens. They loved it!

The pier is MONEY! Kids loved fishing, catching skates, puffers, and mullet with ease. There were some exciting moments from other's catches as well.

The downside to being so early is the drive to conveniences. Both the grocery store and fish market are in Avon, about 17 miles south. Other's nearby were not open or stocked yet - and were surprised that the one in Avon was.

We will return - hoping our spring break is a little later next year.

Comfortable home

  • 4 of 5

For whatever reason I thought this home would have views of the ocean or at least a balcony facing East. It doesn't in case that something you would want in a beach rental.

The home itself is quite large with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen is remarkably small for such a large home. My fiancé and I stayed in the far bedroom on the 4th floor - the bed squeaked so much that our friends downstairs thought we were the energizer bunnies at night. LOL.

The fireplace does not have a switch to turn it on or off - grab the lighter, lay down and be patient. It will light!

The hot tub wasn't working but the service guy came out the next morning and got it resolved. Although the tub wouldn't climb up over 99 until we figured out the max temp was set that low (duh!)

The grill wouldn't work either but Marlee was amazing in getting a new one out the next day - really appreciated that as we had brought some juicy Rib Eyes!

The router name was apparently changed - I think it was likely a result of the hurricane - but we figured that out and Marlee is right, that is a fast internet!

All in all, three couples and three little dogs had a nice long weekend there and enjoyed ourselves. Plus I have nothing but respect for Marlee in her swift management of the minor issues we had.

Thanks!!

Owner's Response: Hi. Thanks for spending the time at our home. While I cannot control some of the minor issues that crop up occasionally with a rental, I am glad you felt that they were addressed quickly and pleasantly. Our home is in a neighborhood and it is always difficult to combine privacy with outdoor space. I don't think anyone wants a balcony looking directly into another home feeling as if they are under a microscope. We have wonderful decks on the north and south sides of the house with great views of the ocean. We sincereley appreciate your business and hope you will consider another stay. Repeat renters earn a 5 to 10% discount and other privileges Thanks, Marlee

Great Ocean View Home and Experience!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for a church men's retreat and everyone loved it! Plenty of room for everyone and the elevator was a big plus for a handicapped member of our group. Appliances worked well and all beds clean and the house very clean when we arrived. Marlee is very easy to work with and very helpful and courteous. Honestly thats the part that counts for me the most is a homeowner who cares! My only suggestions would be put toppers on the beds (mattresses very stiff and springy but I understand they are rentals) and update the photos of the house and have a fish cleaning station. Not to mention Rodanthe is a great location. We are going to try our best to come back next year!

Just what we needed.

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with our stay near Rodanthe pier. I had a perfect view from the kitchen window of the waves crashing into the pier. Like something from a movie. There were 16 of us total. Ten adults and 6 little ones. We ranged in age from 0 to 92. One of our guests celebrated her 92nd birthday here. We baked her birthday cake at this property. It really felt like home. Pretty much anything we needed in the kitchen was there. Utensils, pots and pans, we had it all. We all took advantage of the washer and dryers on the property. We all went home with little to no dirty laundry. Score! There was absolutely zero crowding here. Plenty of space for all to do their own thing. Those who wanted to stay up until 4AM and play cards did and those of us who wanted to just chill and watch a movie, did. There were also plenty of porches and Adirondack chairs for those who wanted to read a book while having an amazing view. There are plenty of local eateries within a short drive, but if you don't mind a little drive, you could head in either direction to a busier area for lunch or dinner. Several of our group headed over to Ocracoke Island and enjoyed a day there. Personally, we enjoyed some time at Cape Point. I so much loved the view of the beach without houses or hotels. It took me to a place reminiscent of times with my late Papaw. Plenty of things to do in the area. But if you are looking to relax, you really don't even have to leave the property. We were staying here just ahead of Hurricane Matthew coming to town. So we had days of not so great weather. It didn't matter. We had all the comforts of home and then some. We just got lazy on those days and enjoyed each other. The pier is a very short walk from the house. If you have fishermen in your group, definitely be prepared to do so. The pier fishing was popular in addition to the fishing at Cape Point. There were people driving out on the beach to fish, just a few feet from the water. I do believe you have to have an off-road permit for this that you can obtain at the Hatteras Island Lighthouse building. (You will pass that on the way there). So, to close, bring your family to this property. Wind down and enjoy. Marlee was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend contacting her and booking this property.
