About Michelle Eagle

I am from Santa Clara Pueblo, a direct descendent of the Ancient Puebloan Culture. I am very connected to Mesa Verde Country and am proud to call the four corners my home.

Michelle Eagle purchased this cottage in 1989

Why Michelle Eagle chose Southwestern Colorado

My parents initially owned this property and were relocated to another Indian reservation. They were both working with the BIA at Towaoc, Colorado. When they moved to Mescalero Apache Reservation in 1989, I purchased the property from them. Since then I have added and remodeled Ravensnest. In 1997, the Grizzly Rose Guest Cottage was built and I opened the Grizzly Roadhouse B&B. The summer of 2013, I remodeled the cottage. In May of 2014, construction began on Deer Haven Guest Cottage. It has been completed and is ready as a vacation rental.

What makes this cottage unique

Ravensnest is situated on the back side of Mesa Verde. We can view Mesa Verde to the east and the Sleeping Ute to the west. We are surrounded by mesas and mountains, with incredible hiking and walking in our backyard. I have created a very spiritual place with shrines and meditation gardens. My native culture and spirituality is reflected in my property and is vital to my creative being. Come and explore and be part of an amazing culture.

Cozy and clean

  • 5 of 5

Two of us enjoyed this delightful cottage with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Very clean and decorated in a lovely way. Close to Mesa Verde and Hovenkeep Monument. Enjoyed the lightly stocked kitchen. Many food store and dining options nearby. A lovely garden with a water feature added to the enjoyment of our stay.

Cozy and spacious!

  • 5 of 5

Deerhaven cottage is both spacious and cozy at the same time. We spent lazy mornings making breakfast together, but still had plenty of space to breathe for a family of four. The kitchen is well-stocked with supplies and the place is spotless! Michelle is a wonderful, sweet host and made sure we were comfortable. If we ever make it back to this area again, we'd gladly stay here!

We loved our stay at the Deerhaven cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed Michelle and her rental so much. Such a nice lady, we loved visiting with her! I stayed here with my husband and 3 young daughters. We visited Mesa Verde, Canyon of the Ancients, and Hovenweep while we were here. The house has everything you need. It even has some things I wish I had in my own home! Spotlessly clean and super comfortable! The girls and I enjoyed the koi pond, the 2 wishing wheels, and all the bunnies! We walked down behind the house to the canal at sunset and it was so beautiful. The setting sun on the mountains was magnificent. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

Pei and Sam

We stayed 3 nights at Grizzly Rose. It felt like staying at your friend's house - every detail had been thoughtfully prepared! The kitchen was well stocked with everything you will actually find in your own home - and the pots and pans were not at all scratched up like you find at many places. There's no living space in the unit but we enjoyed dining outside. Michelle has several rabbits in the property and my kids enjoyed watching them. She also has hummingbirds outside the main house. At night, we enjoyed sitting outside the patio chatting and watching the stars.Michelle was kind to let us use her washer and dryer in the next unit called Deer haven so we got to go in and look at it. This unit is so tastefully decorated and homey. The pictures cannot convey how nice the unit is. We highly recommend this property ! It truly is as relaxing as it says.

Out of the Ordinary

  • 5 of 5

Michele is the perfect hostess! The cabin, Griz, was stocked with essentials and provided us all a place to rest after long days in the hot sun. The cabin does not have a lot of indoor "living space," but the outside environment is so inviting that it does not matter. We enjoyed the babbling stream and pond, the "flowerbeds," the meditation room, the medicine circle, the patio and the teepee. We even made s'mores in the teepee. Michele is a wealth of knowledge about the Pueblo Indians and the culture. Ask her about the bears. Of course Mesa Verde is a must see while you are there.
