Linden Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 bedroom, 1 bath cabin in woods w/ awe inspiring view of the Shenandoah Valley

Welcome to Rainbow View Cabin, less than an hour from the DC beltway in the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA with magnificent views overlooking the Shenandoah Valley! Enjoy remote solitude just 9 miles from the historic village of Front Royal. Get away to another world of stress-free country living.

(And at an elevation of 1,738 feet it's always 10-15 degrees cooler than the city!).

If Rainbow View is booked or you need a 3BR, please see our other cabin - Valley Vista, listing 906064.

There are 2 bedrooms, a full bath, a fully equipped kitchen (including icemaker, coffee maker & grinder, microwave, crock-pot, etc.), a washer/dryer, and fireplace*. Linens, towels and soap are providedǂ. All you need to bring is your food and clothes.

On the large deck, enjoy the hot tub and fire cauldron (wood supplied) with tables and chairs, and both gas and charcoal grills. (Charcoal is not supplied, but is usually left behind by previous guests.)

Convenient to local wineries, caverns, Shenandoah River and Shenandoah National Park/Skyline Drive.

We are a hands-on operation, living only 1/4 mile away, so your experience here will feel a bit more personal than at a typical vacation rental. We enjoy providing our guests with a special experience and hope that you'll appreciate the idyllic setting and all the little extras offered.

Self check-in time: anytime after 4 PM / Check-out time: anytime before 11 AM

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

The last mile of road is gravel. Check our website for a video.

We welcome well behaved dogs. There is a $30 pet fee. We are sorry that we had to implement this fee, but people were not abiding by the previous policy. If you don't advise and pre-pay for pets, we will deduct the fee during the refund of your security deposit. Be advised that there is a county-wide leash law.

We welcome well behaved children.

You should note however that the environment is not particularly conducive to small children's enjoyment. There's no lawned yard to play in, the terrain is very steep and rocky, and the woods has poison ivy and snakes. Inside and on the deck we have not addressed any child safety issues as we have no experience in that regard and it's not been our focus clientele. There is no community playground, and the youngest kids in the neighborhood are of junior high age. The community lakes have no beaches, lifeguards, or restrooms. The closest playground is about 12 miles from the cabin in Front Royal .

Motorcycles are welcome, but even though neighbors on the road have them, every guest who has brought one has complained about the road, so just be advised.

In winter 4WD or AWD may be required. The County is diligent in plowing, but roads can remain icy long after a storm. VRBO offers trip insurance. Enterprise in Front Royal has RAV4s for $70/day. In the event the road is impassible even for 4WD, rescheduling is allowed for available dates of equal value. (We live on the same road so we can keep you advised of current conditions.)

ATVs, discharging firearms, outdoor fires before 4 PM, and disturbing noise after 10 PM are prohibited by various ordinances and covenants.

* Fireplace is for ambiance only. Continual use will cause bedrooms to become cold. It is for burning Duraflame-type logs only, and only one at a time. During cold weather, one log (a 3 hour burn) is furnished for each day of your stay. For a longer burn than that you should bring your own.

(Due to past issues, burning regular wood is allowed only in the cauldron on the deck. Filling the cabin with smoke may result in your security deposit being withheld.)

ǂThere is no extra charge for the number of guests (max 4), but we supply the cabin for your visit based on the number you tell us will be coming.

We do offer a 10% discount to active duty military and retirees. Please advise us at the time of your request and please be honest about your status. We have had issues in the past.

Please access and like our Facebook page - Rainbow View Cabin - as that is where we post info about local restaurants specials, events, info about Shenandoah Park and any discounts we are offering on the cabin.

********* Much to our dismay, VRBO / HomeAway has recently instituted a policy of charging guests a hefty 9% "service fee". We do not approve of this practice and are contemplating cancelling our listing. They claim they are providing added value to the traveler in terms of security. So far it has merely resulted in decreased bookings, as travelers are evidently boycotting VRBO / HomeAway. *********

About Steve & Chris

We live just down the road a piece.

Steve & Chris purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Steve & Chris chose Shenandoah Valley

We've lived in this little rural mountain community for 30 years, and we've long admired the view from this particular property, so when the opportunity arose to acquire it, we jumped at the chance!

What makes this cabin unique

From the world's largest concentration of wild trillium to the abundant wildlife, whether sledding the hills, or just whiling away a lazy afternoon at the winery, we always enjoy each and every day on this mountain. Now you can also enjoy the view from the expanded deck and the hot tub.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for all the thoughtful things you had that we forgot and everything you had ready for the stay. Beautiful, awesome view, home décor, hot tub. Just perfect home away from home.

Within 15 minutes of being in this place, I knew it was going to be superb. DELICIOUS WELL WATER !

  • 5 of 5

This is a bit overdue (Sorry !). As the title states, 15 minutes, I knew it was going to be awesome- I just had to email Steve and Chris an hour after arriving letting them know that. When they say you don't need anything but your clothes, and food for meals - they ain't kidding ! This place was FULLY equipped. You don't have to worry about anything ! Immense hospitality ! They had awesome little snacks available as well, and stuff to make smores! Oh, and also, as they mention. Don't bother bringing bottled water - the WELL WATER IS DELICIOUS ! Seriously. This was a perfect getaway for my fiance and I. The hot tub was awesome too. The deck - amazing, beautiful, cozy, beautiful view. This place literally took away all of our worries and stresses in life. And thats exactly what a vacation should do. We most certainly will be back. Last but not least, Chris and Steve really really strive to make you feel comfortable, and they are very detailed with directions getting there, where things are at in the cabin and on the deck. - mission accomplished guys. :)

Great house in a wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our family of four. The modern kitchen with full size everything is a great change of pace from a hotel stay. The location was central to everything we wanted to do: horseback riding, kayaking down the Shenandoah, and the state/national forest. Relaxing in the hot tub on the deck was a nice treat after a long day out and about.

Outstanding!!!!

Wife and I (plus 2 small dogs) stayed here for our 26yr anniversary. Upon showing up to the cabin, we found a bottle of wine, an anniversary card, and a wine tasting for two at Fox Meadow Winery (closest to the cabin). The owners thought of everything a person could want in a cabin getaway. It was comfortable, clean, fully stocked (minus your food and drinks) and a just an overall great place to just relax on the deck, take in the view, and decompress from city life. It was so nice we didn't want to leave after our initial 4 night stay, so we contacted the owners and asked for 2 additional nights. Which was available and easy to extend. Did the hiking and wineries (14) within a 15-20 minute drive. Came back in the evening and enjoyed the nice hot tub on the deck while watching the sunset. I cannot say enough how much we enjoyed this place. If there is anything you need while you are there, the owners are more than willing to assist you, right down to extra fire wood or bird seed. We will definitely be back.

Note: on our 2 additional nights we requested and paid for, we were unfortunately unable to stay both nights due to an emergency that happened at home causing us to leave after the first night. To my surprise, and totally not expected, the owners refunded the unused night and pet fee. That shows how much these incredible people are committed to there guest.

Unbeatable for the money!!

  • 5 of 5

My long time BFFs and I planned a hiking trip and happened upon this beauty! They have everything from toiletries, to snacks, cleanliness, to expectations of their guests written so nicely around the cabin. Among many favorite things about this cabin was after a long hike along parts of the AP we were welcomed by a crystal clean n clear 105 degree hot tub. how welcoming can you get??

I highly recommend renting this place for many reasons or no reason at all!!

The little touches made our stay

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I stayed at Rainbow View May 21-23 and we couldn't have made a better decision when we decided to stay there. Chris and Steve made us feel so at home & they thought of everything. The cabin itself is gorgeous & so well maintained. The pictures don't do it justice. We arrived & they had a bottle of wine waiting for us along with treats for our furry baby. There were snacks including granola bars and popcorn along with the fixins for s'mores. They had an incredibly well stocked kitchen and we wanted for nothing. Everything you could imagine & even things you didn't know you would need, was provided (i.e. Walking sticks, binoculars, umbrellas and beach towels for the hot tub). Speaking of the hot tub, it was wonderful to soak in it while looking at the amazing view. The weather didn't cooperate but our visit was wonderful simply because of Chris & Steve's cabin. We had a great romantic weekend & we will definitely be back! If I had to pick something I would change, I would say that the mattress wasn't very comfortable & it could probably benefit from a nice mattress topper. But that small detail doesn't keep me from giving them 5 well deserved stars. Thanks Chris & Steve

Amazing place!

  • 5 of 5

We love Rainbow View Cabin! It has the most glorious views from eveywhere. It's like living in a tree house with every convenience and comfort. There is a beautiful, modern kitchen with every appliance and pan a gourmet cook could wish for and a nicely tiled bathroom. The furniture is very comfortable and the fireplace was cozy. The deck with comfy chairs, fire pit, and hot tub was our prime hang out spot. There are tons of informational pamphlets on things to do in the area and a booklet that details how everything works in the cabin which were much appreciated.

Chris and Steve are wonderful hosts. Chris came to welcome us as soon as we arrived with a delicious bottle of wine. He was always available if we needed anything. They have put a lot of thought into providing everything a guest could ever need. Chris brought us wood , a hummingbird feeder, and bird seed for all the bird feeders around the deck.

Rainbow Cabin is a little slice of heaven. Any one who can stay here is a lucky person!
