About Jeff

We purchased nearly 500 feet of beachfront property in Belize and love the island and the people who live here. Property was originally Son & Sea Camp. A Christian Summer Camp for the Children of Belize. The property now consists of a Casita on the beach and a house on the dock as well as Chat~n~Chill restaurant featuring great food and drinks right on the beach of the Caribbean Sea

Jeff purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Jeff chose San Pedro

We love being away from the traffic and congestion of San Pedro. Ten miles north of town, easily accessible with rental golf cart or water taxi. Far enough away to have peace and quiet, but close enough to drive in to town for shopping or a meal

What makes this cottage unique

You are literally sleeping over the water. The house is constructed on the dock. The most amazing views in all of Belize. The peace and quiet of camping, with walls and a roof.

Casa Del Mar was the perfect place to stay on Ambergris Caye

  • 5 of 5

We loved the dock house and would highly recommend! It was actually bigger than what we expected and had everything we needed. We had no issue with bugs as they had provided multiple fans for us and mosquito netting over the bed. It was cute, cozy and such a lovely place to relax morning and night. The fish liked to hangout near the dock house underwater lights which makes for a very cool sight in the evenings. We even got to see some spotted rays in the morning while we lounged and drank our coffee. Definitely worth it and we would stay again!

Tropical seclusion with a fabulous staff!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough good things about our stay at Casa Del Mar. This is the place to book if you are seeking quiet time, literally "on" the water, without the crowds and costs of staying at a resort.

Adrian, Henry, Isis, and the rest of the staff provided outstanding service, always with a smile. They were there to help at a moment's notice, provided bikes for us to use, laundry service, and excellent housekeeping. Walk to the adjacent beachfront cafe, "Chat n' Chill" and you will find great cocktails with an unfussy menu of delicious entrees at a great price point.

Be aware that the golf cart ride from San Pedro town is 50 min. to 1 hr., but don't let that dissuade you. The road is rocky but safe. We decided not to invest in the $170. per week golf cart rental in san pedro and opted for the water taxi and a one-day cart rental to get us to town and back for supplies. That all worked fine.

The road north from Casa Del Mar is right on the beach with great cafes along the way. If you are interested in more upscale dining options Sapphire Beach is right next door and Costa Blue is 3 miles away,. El Secreto is one mile north with an excellent menu as well. We biked to these places from Casa Del Mar on the beach, with cruiser bikes provided by our hosts.

For recreation, you couldn't ask for a better location. Options include kayaking, SUPing, snorkeling, trail running, birding, and beach hikes for miles! One thing I really appreciated was the artistic flair of this place. Adrian's woodwork and painting adds a really a fun vibe.

This location is very true to the advertised description. Be aware that there are no screens on the windows and no AC in this unit. Fans and mosquito netting were provided and worked great. We had no issues with mosquitos or staying cool during our visit, but this is "glamping" in the best sense of the word with an odor-free privy in the bedroom and hot showers on shore, cool shower on the dock. Everything is in excellent working condition.

The table/chairs on the pier provide a magical connection to the sea while an amazing array of fish and seabirds pass by.

Tamara and Jeff were delightful to work with and quick to respond to our questions. They even made it possible to extend our visit!

I hope you have the chance to experience this beautiful place. With very few people around the grounds and total solitude at the house, you will feel like it is "totally yours." Trust me, you won't want to leave. :)

Lovely, amazing, beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late one evening and Adrian was there to greet us. He took our bags to our gorgeous house. The property is stunning and the photos don’t do it justice. Peaceful and full of charm. The staff was so helpful, anything we needed we just had to ask. We ate at the chat and chill which was delicious. The green guacamole sauce on the seafood tacos is to die for. We can’t wait to come back!

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

Definitely not for the average traveler but such a beautiful adventure. Weather was not the best so we spent more time out on the dock than we had planned. Care takers were so accommodating. They were available when needed and anticipated our needs! One morning the rain was so crazy and they delivered our breakfast without a second thought. Adrian was drenched but delivered with a smile. Balbina cooked whenever we wanted and it was delicious. Henry and Isis were terrific as well. Thanks for our little bit of paradise. Now back to reality. Jeff, your property was just what we wanted. Thank you as well.

We had a great stay at Chat N Chill! The dock house was super cute and romantic!

  • 5 of 5

Chat N' Chill was a great little vacation spot away from the bustle of San Pedro town. It was quiet, adorable and romantic. The staff Adrian, Isis, Bina and Henry were all very accommodating and nice to us. The dock house was pretty well equipped for our needs but was not quite the same as staying at a big resort. No AC and during our stay the weather was very calm, which meant the mosquitos were out in force and while there was a mosquito net around the bed, quite a few still got in and we did get bitten quite a bit during the night, making for a tough time sleeping. But with a little improvisation of a fix with binder clips to keep the net closed, some citronella candles and a bigger fan we got from Henry, we were able to keep most of them at bay and stay cool. That being said, we still had a great stay and loved our time on Ambergris Caye. Would recommend, but just be aware that it is warm and can be buggy.
