I was fortunate to win a week here in a raffle however I would certainly go again thgis time as a paying customer. The house itself was beautiful with all you could need a real home from home. A very well looked after house, clean and well presented as was the garden decked area and pool. The town of Bourgeneuf was friendly and had real character. Surrounding towns and villages have lots of history and are lovely to visit. Gail had provided a very good "handbook" of local sights which we used alot. Also very useful maps and leaflets we found as non french speakers the french dictionarys/phase books especially useful ! However locals were helpful and glad we tried in French.
A stunning location and house I would definately recommend to anyone. Gail was friendly and very helpful too.
My family and I had a really lovely holiday here, we stayed for 10 days and it was perfect.
We flew to Limoges airport and arrived at the house in under an hour.
The house is in a peaceful area and within walking distance of the beautiful town of Bourganeuf.
We went to a huge lake (Lake Visiage) where there was lots of water sports, we went fishing, walking, shopping and went to a forest where we did an activity/obstacle course, a french 'Go Ape' This was great fun.
Limoges is a large town and good for shopping. Bourganeuf is a small town and is very traditional. It has everything you need there,
The accomodation was comfortable, clean, very spacious and peaceful. It had absolutely every thing we needed there.
We found the owner to be very kind and easy to deal with.
I would definately recommend this holiday home to my friends and family. It is a lovely place to stay and I would certainly go back.
We have just returned from a great stay in this privately owned cottage,The lady we booked with was very helpful, English speaking and just a delight.
The cottage is situated just slightly off the main road but with fab parking and absolutely stunning views over the French countryside.
We found the French speaking neighbours and locals more than helpful.
The cottage is very clean and very well looked after with linen and towels.
To the rear of the property is an area decked for sunbathing and sampling wine of course. The pool is great.
The local village has lovely shops, restaurants and bars. The smell of local fresh french bread just invites you on a daily basis i might add.
We spent some time exploring the great outdoors and will certainly be returning.
The property is situated in a village outside the quiet town of Bourganeuf, in the Limousin area of France. Bourganeuf itself is a small town offering many shops of local produce such as boulangeries, patisseries, boucheries and a supermarket. The town does however, also have a hospital, pharmacy and numerous banks. Further away we have the larger town of Gueret and the city of Limoges, known famously for it pottery. These have a wider range of retail shops and restaurants plus larger supermarkets. On the sightseeing side, this area has a lot to offer. Just 1:15mins is the memorial village of Oradour Sur Glane, left exactly how it was when all 642 inhabitants were massacred by Nazi’s in WWII. Approximately 30mis from the property is the scenic lake Vassiviere. This is one of the largest lakes in France, with sandy beaches, supervised swimming, children's games and a variety of water sports. Around the lake there are opportunities to walk and cycle through woodland trails.
Golf: Scenic 9 hole golf course in bourganeuf.
