About Marzena Pawlowski
My husband and I run a ministry that feeds the poor on the streets of Calgary. We are using this opportunity to raise the funds needed to help the disadvantaged people that found themselves in need. Thank you for helping us so we can help others.
Why Marzena Pawlowski chose Shaganappi
This home situated centrally by one of Calgary's main attractive streets, has the added benefit of exuding a completely rustic, Alpine ski hut, cabin like atmosphere fashioned and decorated with pieces inspired of the early 1900's Canadian Alpine culture.
What makes this House unique
The space is unique, cozy and rustic with lots of character! Authentic rustic mountain cabin feel throughout, this home has deep earth tone colors and a wood accent wall likened unto our Canadian back country huts at the base of distant mountains, glacier lakes, and alpine meadows and is beautifully furnished throughout with pieces of like origin and very appropriate to the setting. This home has the added benefit of being very centrally located right on 17th Ave SW and within walking distance to the commercial district: the "Champs-Élysées" of Calgary with trendy restaurants and shops, and under 4km to the Stampede Grounds. The home has 2 fully furnished bedrooms with one queen size bed and the other a queen size pullout futon combined with an office desk both furnished with fresh linens and towels. The living area has lots of natural light with large windows and wood floors. The bathroom has a tub and shower and is stocked with soap, shampoo, towels, and toilet paper. Our full size kitchen is stocked with all the implements required for making all kinds of meals and has all of the appliances/equipment that you will need during your stay: stove, oven, fridge/freezer, deep freeze and toaster. The living room boasts a country style dining table seated for 6 people and the two futons can comfortably sleep 2 individuals each. There are laundry facilities downstairs in the basement with laundry detergent and dryer sheets adding the benefit for travelers that require such after hours of driving or flying. The home has an extra double size futon mattress provided in the case of having more guests. Also, a playpen is provided. There is also a large backyard fitted with a BBQ and propane tank and a fire-pit for enjoying weiner roasts and marshmallows.

Our stay at this place was enjoyable
Second time at this place
A group of friends and I have come and stayed at the house for 2 years in a row now. The location is perfect if you want to spend time downtown or go to a concert like we were. House is big enough to sleep 6 comfortably and has everything you need in the kitchen to make a meal before you go out. I would stay here again
incompatible views in regards to inclusivity
The owner was very responsive and the place was clean but unfortunately we do not share the same world views of inclusivity and when we got to the house we realized that we would not really be welcome there. I asked for a refund since we did not stay but have not heard back from the owners. I have asked that they update their posting to reflect their views so that others are not surprised as we were. First disappointment on VRBO.
Clean, easy to find.
The house was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The fresh pastries were a nice touch. The only negative is there is no air conditioning but with fans and the windows open it was comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.
Great place, very clean, fresh pastries
As an added bonus, there will be discounted coupons available for local museums, the Calgary Tower, the Zoo as well.
When available we are willing to take the guests to the major sites within the city and if desired to explore the outdoors such as Banff, Canmore, Kananaskis, Drumheller and the major sites and hikes therein, or you can experience the complete wilderness to engage and get an exhaustive well rounded experience of Western Canada and the Rockies in the form of a guided tour. The hosts are doing this as part of a charity intended to feed the homeless. Details can be discussed further.
The house is centrally located right on 17th Avenue SW; it is the commercial street between the Calgary Stampede Grounds and 14th Street SW with a plethora of restaurants and shops. Officially named as 17th ave Retail and Entertainment District. More information can be found at www.17thave.ca.
A hop, jump, and a skip away to public transit access to busses and trains, a bus stop quite literally a few steps away from the front doorstep and the city train station 2 blocks away. Also, a gas station kiddie-corner to the house itself.
There are 2 playgrounds and a soccer field across the street and a tennis court in the summer and a hockey and skating rink in the winter within 1 block radius and an indoor swimming pool 2 blocks away.
Easy and quick access to the Trans Canada Highway towards Banff and Canmore.
