|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Location: Lake Burton, North Georgia Mountains.
Address: 156 Vickers Rd, Clayton, GA 30525
Directions: From Clayton, take Hwy76 West 9 miles, cross bridge and turn Right onto Vickers Rd. Go 1/2 mile on Vickers to top of hill...turn Right onto Baldwin Lane, stay left at fork onto concrete drive, take drive to bottom keeping left where drive splits.
We are directly across from High Harbor Camp on the “quiet end” of the lake.
Accommodations: 4 Bedrooms/4 ½ Baths - A new waterfront cabin (construction finished in 2012) sited on a large point offering the utmost in privacy.
The cabin has four bedrooms upstairs each with its own private bath. Downstairs there is a queen size hide-a-bed sofa and half bath. Linens furnished.
A Summer week on the lake, leaf watching in the fall, reading in winter, fishing, being across from High Harbor during your child's stay or family gathering, time spent here is very special.
We have been on the lake since the early 50’s and our original cabin (heartstring) was a “true” cabin. So with eyes shut…we lovingly brought it down and built a new one suitable for year round living and today’s lifestyle.
No place on Lake Burton offers more privacy. Our “point” offers a full 180 degree view of the lake, safe swimming, deep water and ultimate privacy.
You will rarely need A/C but we have state of the art zoned heating and air if you do. We took full advantage of our location and built with tall windows that not only offer terrific lake views from all main level windows but, let that wonderful Rabun County mountain air flow through the house.
Our kitchen is large, fully equipped and a joy to cook in. There are deep limestone counters for prep or buffet, custom cabinetry and a walk-in pantry. We installed a downdraft Jenn-Aire oven with a window directly above so you can watch the lake and mountains while you prepare your favorite meal. Directly off the kitchen is a “cooking porch” equipped with both charcoal and gas Weber grills.
On the lake level, only steps from the dock, is a large flagstone patio with a stone exterior fireplace. It is a favorite place to relax, dine or cozy up to a fire on a cool evening.
We have a double boathouse with an extra slip if you bring your boat or rent from one of the Marinas. Note: Our boathouse is…well, it’s a boathouse. It does not have a top deck. Our patio serves the purpose of a boathouse deck but keeps you under the shade of great white oaks, right by the cabin and only steps to the dock. While many cabins spend the afternoon in the shade, our Southern exposure keeps us in sun during Summer, even late in the afternoon.
For your use, we have a canoe, a kayak, a wake board, water skis, tubes, lifejackets and other water toys available.
We do not allow Jet Skis.
There is a laundry area, den, game room with pub table, flagstone patio with exterior fireplace.
We have wonderful neighbors on each side and ask you treat our home and our neighbors as if they were your own.
This is the view from one of three porches.
We have been on the lake since the early 50’s. Lake Burton and Rabun County feels like home.
Connie Callaway purchased this house in 1955
When our parents fell in love with this lot it was remote, only accessible by boat and had the feel of being on a lost island. Vickers Road had not been 'cut' from HWY76 and the dirt road access 'Popcorn Road' came to a dead end at the top of our drive...it was also often impassible in all but a 4 wheel drive.
This is the 'quiet' end of the lake and or point offers complete privacy...400 feet of shoreline!
I would highly recommend this vacation home. Eight of us stayed for the week and found it to be utterly relaxing, well equipped, comfortable, and the homeowner was a pleasure to work with.
We had 8 adults, 4 kids, 1 infant and 2 dogs stay at this house the week of 4th of July. It was really nice with great views. The host was very gracious and even left us a cooler full of ice for the week along with great instructions on where to park our boat. It was fun in the morning and at night to listen to the campers across the way chant their different camp slogans. Being north of the bridge we didn't get a lot of traffic on the water. I was able to kayak early in the mornings and actually caught a few fish. The water was clear with 5 feet or so of visibility. There is an outdoor fireplace and a great sitting area for families to relax. We really enjoyed the fact that there was a bathroom in every bedroom. We never felt short on space and really enjoyed the trip. We chose this house for our very first GA vacation introducing my brother, sister and parents. They all fell in love with the area.
There are a few nice antique shops nearby. There is a good place to get bbq to go. Within a few miles we went to a state park with a waterfall. It also was only a few miles to the border to pick up REAL fireworks. The porch is great for relaxing and watching the sun set. We had no problems with bugs of any sort.
Last but not least was the experience with the fireworks. The lake puts on a great show... one like I have never seen before. I would recommend waiting until all the boat traffic clears before trying to head back to the house though. 800 to 1000 boats heading in the same direction can be dangerous.
Get this one before the reviews stack up and the price goes up. It is well worth the price the owner is asking. We are VRBO veterans and I can't think of anything negative to say about this place.
This house was breathtaking! The pictures, while good, don't do this home justice. All 4 couples that stayed in the house were impressed and we are already planning our next trip back. The view is perfect with each room having a view of the lake. The owner also has great taste and has decorated it cozy yet stylish. I promise if you stay here you won't regret it! Bring your friends to share this treasure with.
