WE'LL BE BACK!!! TRULY AMAZING

  • 5 of 5

We took our adult children down with their significant others for a great family vacation. Uvita is a beautiful place to vacation. It is not overly touristy and the locals are very friendly and helpful. The beaches here are stunning and so many to choose from. Great waves for boogie boarding, spike ball, volleyball and frisbee on the sand. We surfed with a local company and they were great and generous with their instruction and time. I didn't ever feel hustled. As for Casa Uvita, we all loved it!! The house is beautiful cool and airy with doors open and screened windows it was stunning. The beds are comfortable and spacious. The kitchen is great well stocked for cooking with great views of the ocean and the pool and patio area where we spent many hours as a family together. We hiked the nearby waterfalls and each offered a different experience. The natural spring water was cool and refreshing. The wild life is amazing and everywhere around you. The best part of this vacation was that the family stayed together. Unlike when we would go to a resort and everyone goes their own direction...we all stayed and played together. Decided on which which waterfall to hike or which beach to chill on! Cards, boardgames, pool games, reading and relaxing together was a highlight. Great place for family unity! I wouldn't want to forget Michele. Michele who owns Casa Uvita lives on the property and ensures that the home is never left alone. My daughter called her Google because everything we needed to know she could help us with. She was kind and generous with her time and took us to places that our family van would not go. Showing us around and sharing her beautiful environment with us. She and Johnny kept our home and pool clean and safe daily. Thank you Michele for making our vacation amazing!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments. I'm so glad that Casa Uvita was the venue for quality family time with your adult children and significant others. You chose the right place to play and relax. It took a while for the monkeys to show up, but when they did, they gave you a spectacular send-off. It was a pleasure to meet you! Send me pictures from the wedding!

Beautiful and amazing solar home with wonderful views and hostess

  • 5 of 5

We just left Casa Uvita and are so sad that we have to go home. It was the perfect magical home for our family's vacation. It is off the grid, and completely sustainable with solar power and springfed water. The pool is beautiful and overlooks the jungle and ocean, with howler monkeys climbing about in the trees surrounding it. The house is comfortable and clean, with a well-stocked kitchen and anything you might need. You will need to remember that this is a solar home and to use your energy wisely, but for us that just made the house more special. The owner, Michelle, was an amazing hostess and worked to make our trip memorable. She really went out of her way to make sure that we had an wonderful time. We will definitely be back!

Owner's Response: You all were so much fun. It makes me so happy when guests are interested in learning about the rainforest flora and fauna and living off the grid. I have no doubt that we will see each other again in the near future--at Casa Uvita or maybe in Austin, Texas! Pura vida!

Beautiful views, big spacious home

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Uvita. We saw a family of monkeys in the backyard and woke every morning to beautiful birds! Nice view of the ocean, very short drive to the beach. I walked up the drive from the house and got see even more views up high. The house is spacious, enough room for a family of 7, has beautiful hardword floors and kitchen opens up to the patio. My kids enjoyed the pool. Great time!

Owner's Response: I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you during your stay at Casa Uvita. I know it was very rainy during your stay (Sept. and Oct. are our rainiest months), but I'm glad that didn't keep you from enjoying this beautiful region of Costa Rica. Hopefully we'll meet next time. Pura vida!

Eco Chic and Beyond!

  • 5 of 5

Casa Uvita is a little piece of paradise that is off the grid without being out of touch. The house is unforgettable and has an open and friendly vibe. The beds are very comfortable and each room is equipped with screened windows and its own bathroom for extra privacy. Equipped with wifi, you can snapchat from the second floor hammock while enjoying a double view of the surrounding mountain then gaze over to the ocean.

The wonderful and gracious host Michelle has a wealth of knowledge, and can kindly guide you through questions. If you are up to the task, she is a great influencer of the adventurer in you! Follow along a nearby hiking trail to find waterfalls with natural pools in the mountain, as well as a yoga retreat. With the town of Uvita right below, and its whale-tail shaped beach, surfers and swimmers alike each have their space to play.

From the daily monkey and sloth sightings in the nearby trees, to the many variety of butterflies floating by and birds chirping and chatting, Casa Uvita is a hidden gem housed in a mountain. Do bring bug spray if you have sweet blood, a make sure you get a 4X4 to take advantage of all the adventures in store!

If you're in need of a change of pace from the daily grind, Casa Uvita is for you. It may need to become a yearly visit, and it's definitely a must stay that will transform your life!

Gorgeous, eco-home, in the rainforest

  • 5 of 5

My family spent 6 nights at Casa Uvita during our recent Costa Rican vacation. It was our favorite location and I would recommend it to friends and family and we hope to return soon. The house is private, but the owner and staff live in another house on the property so there is 24 hour security and someone is always available to help if you need anything. Michelle and her staff are wonderful hosts. They were very helpful in planning excursions for our stay. Johnny, the caretaker, took us on a hike to a waterfall where we got to swim in a pool under the falls. It was one of the highlights of our trip. The property is beautiful, really even nicer than the pictures suggest. Our main goal in visiting Costa Rica was to observe the wildlife. We were not disappointed. As soon as we arrived at Casa Uvita we saw toucans and parrots in the trees surrounding the property. The next day we saw howler monkeys. We could back float in the pool and watch a family of monkeys feeding in the trees right above us. We loved the experience of being in a Central American rainforest. However, guests should be aware that the howler monkeys wake you up every morning at 5:00. Then parrots and toucans began to squawk at each other around 6:00. We didn't mind, it was wonderful to lay in bed (a beautiful canopy bed draped with mosquito netting) and listen to the sounds of the forest. One note about trip planning: We visited in July, the wet season, and it did rain every day. However, it was reliably clear and sunny in the mornings and then around 2:00 in the afternoon would cloud up and we'd have thunder and lighting and/or rain through the evening. The weather did not stop us from enjoying this beautiful country. We were awake by 6:00 in the morning anyway. So we'd go off and explore in the mornings and return in the afternoons to watch the birds and monkeys from the deck. Pura Vida!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the detailed review! This will be very helpful to other guests considering Casa Uvita during the rainy season. There are pros and cons to the wet weather, with cooler temperatures and exciting thunderstorms being at the top of the pro list. The howler monkeys and parrots are here all year around, so no matter what time of year you travel, they'll be sure to wake you up bright and early. Pura vida!

The highlight of our trip to Costa Rica!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Casa Uvita was the BEST part an incredible vacation in Costa Rica. We fell in love with the house, the town, local beaches, animals in the trees (we even spotted a sloth hanging out near the pool😀), sunny days, tropical rains and gorgeous sunsets. Michele and her team (Carlos, Argentina & Bella) are such wonderful and generous hosts - each of them made our time at Casa Uvita so memorable. We can hardly wait to return and unplug!
