This is a brand new recently converted building consisting of two, 2 bedroom apartments plus a studio, just across the road from the Barbados Fertility Centre. The second bedroom in Lower Camelot has an ensuite bathroom and kitchenette. This room can be used as a self contained studio apartment (sleeps 2) because it has it's own entrance. Walk east on the new boardwalk to the popular Accra beach or stroll west along the picturesque beach to the Hilton. Swim and snorkel in the lagoon out front or surf the barrier reef just beyond. Enjoy fabulous views from the elevated balconies and marvel at the colorful sunsets. Relax on the sea side patio in the shade of the almond tree and watch the fish jumping and the frigate birds and pelicans gliding over the brilliant and glittering sea.
Wave Surfing: This property is located right in front of a good left hand surf reef break. There are other excellent surf breaks (including 'Brandons' and 'Sunset at Accra') within easy walking distance along the beach. Best time of year for these local breaks is from January to May. March and April are usually the best months. When the surf is up it can last from 3 to 6 weeks, with best conditions on a rising tide at any time of the day.
Snorkeling and Scuba Diving: Good snorkeling is available all along the coast and within easy walk from the property. There is a small lagoon nearby where you can feed the fish with bread. Hundreds of fish will eat the bread right from your hand. Just outside the reef there are a couple of good scuba diving locations. Local Scuba groups visit these spots regularly.
Sailing and Horse Racing: You can rent a Hobie cat from beach operators in front of Coconut Court hotel 2 minutes walk along the beach from the property or just relax with a drink in hand and watch the Yacht Club regattas from the comfort of your elevated balcony (winter months) They tack up the coast and come so close to shore you can hear the captain calling the orders.
In addition you can walk to the Garrison Savannah and place a bet on your favorite horse or hang out with the locals either in the Grand Stand with a coctail in hand or in one of the tents in the grounds and join a card game.
Wow.....Just Wow! What a great place to stay. Very nice location and wonderful owner and management! Don't worry about over packing beach toys, floats...for the kids...it's all here! Don't think That your going to hate the beds either...they were so comfortable! What a wonderful experience. I HIGHLY Recommend eating at least once at Stream! Their Blackened Fish and Parmasagne Chicken was amazing! The taxi and bus service is right at your door and so easy to use! (we rented a van and truly could have forgone this for most of the trip!) If you want a neat excursion..do the Eco Adventure at Harrison's Cave (must be 16 or older) and make sure to go to the Four Square Rum Distillery. The Lower Camelot alone is a Great Highlight of Barbados! We look forward to returning for Kadooment in the future...we plan on "Jumping" this next go round!
My husband and I took my mom on a vacation to Barbados, and we really wanted to stay in a place that had it all - a location with stunning views, great access to the beach, and close to amenities and entertainment, as well as an apartment that was clean, comfortable and nicely appointed. Well...we got all of this and much more during our 2 week stay in Lower Camelot, and we've already booked our next visit for May after falling so in love with everything this particular venue had to offer!
Some highlights of our stay:
-Feeding fish at the reef just out front every morning!
-Waking casually, day and night, to various local eateries and shopping
-Relaxing in the sweet surroundings of the quality apartment that brought the outside in
Everything really was great - unbeatable views, and access to water, endlessly charming apartment, central location - but one thing that really stood out about Lower Camelot was how unbelievably friendly, available and accommodating the property manager Alexis was. Just having someone so good be overseeing this aspect of your holiday so you really did not have a care in the world made an already amazing experience even better!
I would highly recommend a stay at Lower Camelot - it's got everything and more!
We stayed in Lower Camelot and it looked exactly as it is depicted in the pictures. It was clean, stylish and had just about everything we needed for our 3 week stay. My two favorite spots in the apartment were the wonderful outside patio area with the almond tree the lovely master bedroom. The entire apartment opens to the ocean and the sea breezes so why I favored these two areas I have no idea.
The apartment also sits on a small beach and is right next to the boardwalk so it is within easy access to food shopping and restaurants. Blakey's, Tapas, Mama Mia's and Naru's were all great and within easy waking distance. There was also the Big B Supermarket with it's free shuttle back to Camelot which we seemed to use on a regular basis. Public transportation and mini cabs are right outside the apartment and taxi's are always available as well.
My only criticism was that although the kitchen contained just about every utensil needed it only had a small toaster oven which presented a challenge when trying to grill/ cook meats.
The owner Mark seemed more of friend/host than a landlord and was totally accommodating if we had any questions and made us feel totally welcome.
I can't wait to return one day soon.
My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Barbados staying in the lower camelot which can only be described as the best vacation we have ever had. Lower camelot was exactly as described and Mark makes it even better. The beach and ocean are your backyard with a great breakwater for a calm swimming and snorkeling area. Views were breathtaking on the porch looking across the water. Inside the place was spotless with plenty of space. We stayed 9 nights and Mark even arranged for a maid to come one day while we were out to clean which was very much appreciated. Location is great, lots of great small eats within walking distance with St. Lawrence Gap, Oistins and downtown Bridgetown just a ZR ride away. We could not have asked for anything better. My wife and I have plans to return to Barbados and when we do, we will stay here again or a place owned by Mark, he is that good.
Lower Camelot was ideal for our family vacation. It was close to Bridgetown, restaurants, shopping, transport, and the airport. Every morning I would enjoy walking the boardwalk, and in the evening watch the sunset and starry skies, then drift to sleep with the sound of the ocean and sea breezes. The suite was clean and had all the basics we needed, including a washing machine! The mattresses were very comfortable. We enjoyed traveling around Barbados on the lively local buses, and we never had to wait for more than a few minutes. The locals are very friendly and we felt safe. Mark was very accommodating thru the whole process, from booking, to helping us settle in and checking out. I would definitly recommend lower Camelot to independent travelers.
After lots of research - my husband and I decided to take an IVF vacation in Barbados. One of the first properties I found was this one, but we needed to be close to the IVF clinic. When I found out that it was a board walk distance away, I HAD to have this place! We initially wanted upper camelot but it was already reserved, so we took the lower unit. Our 2 week stay was a slice of heaven. The cove in front of the property was our favorite, we went out everyday and swam/snorkeled and sunbathed. Mark (the owner) was great, quickly responded to any emails or calls. very pleasant to work with. There are a bunch of restauraunts in walking distance, including Mamma Mias, Tapas, and Blakeys, all great food! I have gluten intolerance, so I had to be extra cautious while dining, Mamma Mias has gluten free pasta that is delish and GF pizza on their menu, which was really surpirsing for such a small island. Tapas was very accomodating to my GF requests as well, they even had a flourless brownie on their menu! Yummo! The house was comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was great and the bed slept comfortably. We were concerned with noise because the back of the house is right on the main road - but it was never an issue, very quiet area. We did pay the extra per night to have air conditioning which kept us very comfortable while inside. We would highly recommend this property rental, great value, excellent location and lovely accomodations. You must do cool runnings sea tour and snorkel with the sea turtles if you are there. that was the best day of our trip!
Hastings is part of the Historic Garrison Area of Barbados. It is the location of the Old Colonial Officers Quarters and Army Hospital, (now Pavilion Court) It is also the beach entrance to the new Boardwalk. The Savannah consists of the Main Guard, a beautiful Victorian building complete with a large collection of Old Cannons, (put together by Major Mike Hartland), the Barbados Turf Club (Horse Racing), the Museum, and a vast open area of sports grounds for Rugby, Football, Cricket and Basketball all surrounded by walking and running tracks
Other Activities: Great for Wave Surfing in the Winter Months and located across from the Barbados Fertility Centre
