Venture out of the city as we are 20 minutes from beautiful Bragg Creek or 1 hour to Kananaskis and Banff where there is some of the most beautiful hiking and ski resorts in Canada, with Glacier lakes, mountains surrounding and incredible trails. Our six-week stay at Joanne's place was perfect in every respect. Joanne is very pleasant and accommodating, and her house is clean, bright, well appointed and situated in a new upscale community that is very convenient for shopping, fitness centers, restaurants, etc. The views of the Elbow River valley and the Rockies off in the distance are terrific.Even more important, it is on high ground, which was very welcome during the recent floods in Calgary.
When arranging this rental was not advised there was going to be on-going construction downstairs or pets in the basement.
Property could have been cleaned better than it was; was in need of maintenance; microwave did not work, refrigerator required a replacement water filter, pot lights were burnt out.
Clarify rental payment up front; returned earlier than planned; owner maintained full rental deposited would be kept with no refund. If I knew this was the drill up front, then I would have made a different rental decision; definitely will never recommend this property to friends or relatives.
Hmm…. I think I may sense some sour grapes here. This client was building a condo in Calgary and wanted to rent my suite for a few weeks until they received occupancy of their new condo. A few days after their arrival in Calgary, it became apparent that they would not receive occupancy for another month so they decided to go back home to BC. In the meantime my suite was reserved and paid for by them for a two week period. When they said they were leaving early I advertised it for rent again with the intention of reimbursing them if it was rented. However, unfortunately, on such short notice it was not rented. The clients seemed to think they should be reimbursed for the time they had booked and paid for but then decided to leave early. I did not agree with this and do not feel that because things did not work out between them and their builder that I should suffer the financial loss. For the period of time they had it reserved, with a security deposit, I could not offer it to any other potential clients.
As far as the construction noise…there was a few hours of unplanned work going on in the basement and I was there with my dog while the work was being completed. The house is spotless. The microwave is not broken. It works just fine and the fridge filter was ordered the day after it was brought to my attention that it needed replacing and replaced within the week. The clients loved the suite until they were informed they would not be reimbursed for their early departure.
Fantastic view, weather, and hospitality!
I wasn't sure what to expect as this house is slightly away from the downtown core; however, I discovered that the commute into the core was very reasonable and easy. The location was minutes away from three or four upscale shopping centres with everything I required, including fine dining and entertainment! The house was well portrayed by its pictures and description. It was clean and well equipped. The owner was happily available whenever I had a special need or request. I will definitely stay here again, and I highly recommend this home.
