3 Bedroom,4 Bath in the Heart of Savannah's Landmark District
This house resonates in a very personal and poignant way for me and my family. I come from a modest and humble background. My mother, Josephine, who passed away in 2007, lived to see me accomplish things she only dreamed of. She instilled in me the drive to always go after my dreams. My sweet husband and I loved to include my mother in our various vacations and travels around the globe. So why Savannah? . . . My mother was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and all of her relatives remained in the area. We we spent many holidays in Jacksonville, and a few days into the visit we'd get the itch to head north and explore Savannah. Our last family trip with my mother to Savannah, we shared family style meals at Mrs. Wilkes', and ventured to Tybee Island for a lovely evening on the beach. When my mother, my husband and I returned home, we mused about our our experiences and how much fun we had in Savannah. My mother never returned with us to Savannah, but she always remembered our trip. I often said, "When I grow up and retire I would love to own one of these stately Savannah homes, where I can be near family and have my own special place." That place is now Josephine's on Jones.
Kelly purchased this House in 2015
Why Kelly chose Historic District - South
After many visits to Savannah, I decided to speak with a Realtor. The magazine in our hotel room had an ad for Mopper-Kelly (now Engel & Voelkers Savannah), so we walked to the office and met with an agent, Kelly Bittinger, with the Boese Bittinger Team, who is now a dear friend as well. Our search was not easy, and after several trips and deals that did not work out, my husband, friends and family were done with my pipe dream. Not Kelly, She invited us for Thanksgiving (a one day visit) and Kelly convinced me to look at a home that had just come on the market. Jones Street had not been on my radar, but we had found our place. It was a magical moment to walk into a space that embraces you with the warmth and a feeling of "home." WE made an offer and it was accepted. The rest is history -- really history! We own a pre-Civil War 1850s, three-story brick townhouse, with an enchanting courtyard! The bones of the home were solid and strong, and our renovations included cosmetic updates, but we left the beautiful stately structure intact. What we quickly discovered was that as much as we loved our home, we would soon come to be a part of a neighborhood community that shared our passion for historic homes and a love for all that Savannah offers.
What makes this House unique
If you are seeking a "retreat" from the daily rush and crush of life, and want to relax in the comfort of a neighborhood full of finely restored historic homes, then stay at Josephine's on Jones. The home retains its original architecture, including brick and wood floors, a rare open staircase, high ceilings, and (decorative) fireplaces abound. The home is ideally suited for adult individuals and couples who will enjoy the 3 bedroom lay-out and the ample open spaces for gatherings as well as quiet and solitude. The home as an eclectic mix of old and new furnishings and artifacts for your care and use. Curl up in a cozy chair and read a book from the shelves stocked with the latest reading materials, listen to music or enjoy the outside private courtyard, with grill and working fireplace. The house is old and while it is not haunted you may feel some positive energy flowing through as you sleep soundly in the comfy beds with the soft whir of the high-ceiling fans. If you listen closely, you may hear the church bells ringing and the clip-clop of the draft horses pulling carriage tours. An amenity-rich kitchen is ready for quick meals (or extravagant ones) to be savored in the adjoining dining room. We haven't cooked much beyond breakfast and a quick snack as Mrs. Wilkes' and the Crystal Beer Parlor are just a few steps away. Josephine's on Jones is nestled between two lovely squares, or parks, if you care to stroll and explore. We are only a few blocks from the Civic Center, art museums, Broughton Street shopping, and SCAD. In five minutes, you can walk to Forsyth Park, the Girl Scouts of America Museum, River Walk, the Design District, and so much more. Come and stay and let us know why you love Josephine's on Jones!

Girls trip to savannah
It was an amazing place to stay! Location was perfect to walk almost everywhere! House was very comfortable very clean and very well decorated ! Jones Street is beautiful and quiet. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.
We figured it would be nice, but it turned out to be awesome.
Loved my stay! Great experience! Only down side is the property manager needed to access the property around 8 am. My party did not hear her knocking so she entered the property without our consent. One of us was sleeping on the couch in a sleeping bag. There were members of my party that do not sleep fully clothed and would have been put in a comprimising situation. Other than that, great stay.
Josephine's puts you in an ideal place to experience historic Savannah. Brick-lined Jones Street alone is postcard gorgeous, overhung with old live oak trees draped in Spanish moss. Walk the brick sidewalks and marvel at the grand homes, representing the country's finest examples of many types of architecture -- and renovated to their former glory. Basically, everything historic Savannah has to offer -- shopping, museums, traditional and contemporary restaurants, lounges, squares, tour operators, etc. -- is within walking distance from Josephine's. The only thing you need to do is decide which way to go!
