About Susie Cook

We purchased our property at Priest Lake in 1994. I used to call it the 'most expensive camping spot in the world'. We had the shell built about 10 years ago and had intended to finish the inside ourselves. After many years of trying, we decided to go ahead and let the professionals complete it. The inside was just completed July, 2012. Better late than never! Now it's ready for you and I to enjoy.

Susie Cook purchased this house in 1995

Why Susie Cook chose Coolin

We have the nicest beach in Huckleberry Bay. We were the first people to buy property on our shoreline. When we heard it was opening up for sale we came in by boat before the road was in and scoped out the best beach. When the lots went on the market, we were ready to pounce on the best one.

What makes this house unique

You will love the light, breezy feeling of our home. Most homes on this lake have a dark, cabiny feel. Ours was intentionally built to be just the opposite. We enjoy the beautiful views of the water and our beach from the open verandas on each level.

Outstanding Stay at Hummingbird Haven

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Hummingbird Haven was outstanding! The home is located in a more quiet area of Priest Lake (Huckleberry Bay), which was perfect for our group. The house is spacious with a great floor plan for a larger group. The kitchen can get a little tight if several people are fixing meals, but the dining room, living room, and deck are all in close proximity to the kitchen, which allows for easy conversations while getting ready for dinner or feeding kids, etc. There is ample space in the utility/laundry room for extra food storage. (There is only one fridge, so we stored coolers in the utility room.) The beds were very comfortable, and there were plenty of linens and towels. The beach area is fabulous and easy to access, and the docks are in excellent condition. The driveway is a little steep, so be cautious if you're pulling a trailer. The owner is wonderful. She was responsive, professional, and attentive throughout the months leading up to our stay, and during our actual stay. Any time we had a question, she got back to us immediately. We asked if she had a slow cooker -- and she went out and bought one for the house! I highly recommend Hummingbird Haven.

Priest Family Vacation

  • 4 of 5

We loved the setting of the house, there was enough bedrooms to accommodate 6 adults and three small children. The dock was nice to have our boat accessible, the beach area was shelter for our little ones to swim without worries. We did lose power for one day but the generator kicked in and saved the day, but did lose the router and had to VCR movies for one night, not a big deal. The negative side is the kitchen is a disorganized chaos of random pots and pans of poor quality,(not one good frying pan) drawers so filled with misc. gadgets you can barely get it open. The size of the kitchen is too small to accommodate more than two people at one time, which was difficult to cook a big meal, prep, and clean up it took a "dancing" routine at times. Overall, we did enjoy our family vacation in a lovely environment.

Amazing Vacation Home!!

  • 5 of 5

We had the best trip to Priest Lake staying at this beautiful, well cared for home. The house fit our 4 family party perfectly with each room in a separate corner of the house, which offers nice privacy. The extra large game room upstairs is perfect for the kids, lots of open space to spread out and have fun when the clouds rolled in. But our favorite spot was on the dock or longing on the perfect little sandy beach that you literally step out onto from the house. The location is quite remote so you feel as though you have the lake to yourself and while there are neighbors, you can't even tell they're there. The homeowner was very responsive to all of our questions and she was a joy to rent from. Our group had such a wonderful time we are already discussing a return trip. Can't wait to come back!!!

Perfect Vacation House

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would love to return with more of our family to share in the experience. This beautiful home is spotless and looks brand-new. We were very impressed with all the home offered. It even has two ovens. The Jacuzzi tubs felt wonderful and relaxing. Loved walking right out onto the beach also. This would be a perfect place to go in the winter also. Thinking of maybe staying there during Thanksgiving with family. The owners are also extremely helpful and friendly. 5+ Stars. Highly recommend

wonderful home on priest lake

  • 5 of 5

Lovely home, clean and well-provisioned, very nice, quiet location, beautiful setting with mountains across the lake making for great sunsets. Home as advertised, comfy beds and furnishings; porches add to the charm, french doors off the dining, living, and 3 of the bedrooms - really allow you to enjoy the breeze and views. We enjoyed a great week, with swimming, boating, ping pong, reading, games, hiking, s'mores by the fire pit on the beach. Good for extended-family vacation... we had 2 families, plus grandparents. The owner was very responsive and helpful. Thanks! We would be very happy to return!
