Aloha and E Komo Mai to the Bali House at Kehena Beach!
Aloha! We call the Big Island Home! As a Native to the Hawaiian Islands, my husband and I fell in love with this area for it's remote beauty & charm. You can really connect with the Aina and feel the Mana around you. We made the house open to our guest after years of living here. We love Hosting Guests from all over the world and making new friends. We have been in business for many years and loving every minute of it. We greet all our Guests and treat them like our own Ohana!
Mahalo again for giving us this opportunity and we look forward to Hosting you!
We love the Puna area for it's remote beauty, green forest, rugged coast and deep pacific blue waters. We love the east side of the Big Island as we experience no Vog due to our constant Easterly trade-winds and we experience less rainfall than Hilo. Our area is also known for it's Sunny days and Rainy nights one of the reasons why it is so green and lush. It is one of the most beautiful areas in the Hawaiian Island chain. This place holds so much History of the Hawaiian People and is sacred. This is Pele's Home! This area feels like old Hawaii, full of Beauty ,Tradition, friendly people and the Aloha Spirit truly Lives here!
Built in Bali, imported and assembled back in Hawaii, it truly is a Unique and Exotic design, almost like living in a Work of Art! The many details and handcrafted design and imported woods throughout. Many additions, plants, trees, flowers, stone gates and bamboo fencing were added thru the years. Later we added our other rental The Bali Cottage. The Bali House and Bali Cottage are totally separate homes that are gated and private from each other with their own garden, hot tubs, the only thing they share are the gated and covered carport and are situated approx. 50 ft away from each other. It is the Perfect Getaway for Lovers young and old. We are Honored and Pleased to offer our Guest the Bali House and share with them the same experience we had while living in it.
Aloha and E Komo Mai!
There are not enough words in the dictionary to describe how wonderful this stay has been for my husband and I..... This was our 1st anniversary together and WOW! What a perfect place to celebrate it. We will be back to re-visit. Iliahi, your kind and loving soul is what made this retreat truly feel like we were at home.
See you and Tim again someday.
My husband and I, along with my 83 year old mother, stayed at the Bali House for three nights and that wasn't long enough. This is a beautiful and comfortable home and our favorite of the four VRBO's we rented during our two week stay in Hawaii. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was in the house. My mother stayed in the second bedroom, which she called "the cave" because of the black lava walls, but she loved it. My husband and I were in the master bedroom which had a private lanai and a wonderful view of the ocean. The bed was the most comfortable I slept in during our vacation. The ocean breezes made the house cool at night and the song of the coqui lulled us to sleep every night. There are geckos who share the house with you, but don't let that dissuade you! They eat insects and stay out of your way. I was comforted to see them and it just enhanced the experience for us. I highly recommend the Bali House and we will definitely stay here again if we get the opportunity.
Location: secluded but only 20 minutes from Pahoa (shopping, restaurants), 5 minutes from Kalapana (where there is a small but well-stocked grocery store), 20 minutes from Kapoho tide pools for snorkeling, 20 minutes from Isaac Hale park where ocean lava tours embark.
Celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at Bali House. Just loved the location and house. Plenty of room for 2. Enjoyed the Coqui frogs every night singing us to sleep. The Volcano Park was fantastic. Saw the lava leaping from the caldera. Food at the Volcano House was very good and the view is incredible. Ziplined over Umauma Falls! Visited the stunning Hawaiian Botanical Gardens in Hilo. All a must see and do! Would definitely come back and do it all again. Mahalo Tim and Iliahi for opening your house for us to enjoy!
My son and I stayed at the Bali House September 2 through 7, 2016. This house is AMAZING.
Ili and Tim are excellent and responsive hosts. Ili was wonderful as we came immediately after hurricane Madeline and before Lester. We were supposed to arrive September 1, right along with hurricane Madeline. Ili was fantastic, giving me reassurance and advice before we left and immediately refunded our first night's deposit since we had to reschedule our flight and arrival for the next day.
The house and property are wonderful. 30 feet away from a lovely black sand beach. It's a bit of a climb down but not a big issue.
I chose this house because it's beautiful. I also chose it because of it's location and proximity to many lovely sorkeling areas. In addition to the Kapoho Tide Pools (we didn't go due to the hurricanes and concerns about bacterial counts due to run off from the storms) we went to tthe Ahalani thermally heated pool (45 minutes away). We were advised by a local person to go to the Champagne Pond (50 minutes away). OMG, this is an absolute MUST. In a gated community so you either park outside of the gate and walk in or I understand you can drive a 4 wheel vehicle to it. BEAUTIFUL. I can't emphasize how wonderful this place was. Heated natural pond with an amazing variety of fish. My favorite spot! The house is a little over 1 hour from Volcanoes National Park, same for Hilo. A great location.
Take a right out of the driveway, stay on the road till the end. This brings you to Uncle Roberts. What a terrific local place. My son and I had breakfast there 3 times. VERY GOOD french toast made with Hawaiian sweat bread. They have also created a relatively easy trail through the lava field directly across the street to a newly forming black sand beach. VERY NICE.
- Geckos - I saw a total of 3. They did not bother us in any way.
- Washer/Dryer - Bring your own laundry detergent and fabric softner
-Soap/Shampoo/Conditioner - Bring your own, not provided. There is an initial set up (small bottles and small soap)
-WiFi is weak.
The downstairs bedroom is really lovely. My son grabbed that immediately. I had the upstairs bedroom...such a beautiful space, as is the entire house. This house has a lot of steps and levels so if stairs are an issue, I'd reconsider. If not, grab this place as it truly is quite lovely. We were very happy here and would definitely come back.
The shower...Bali blue stone. Beautiful, relaxing. Wait till you see it
Amazing house that is beautifully decorated with amazing views! Owners were very pleasant and helpful! Couldn't be happier with our stay there!
One of the most beautiful places I have been. Very lovely! Mahalo!
My family (myself, husband, two teens) stayed in the Bali House for the last half of our Hawaiian vacation. Iliahi and Tim were wonderful, gracious hosts who answered all of our pre-vacation questions very quickly, gave us "spot on" recommendations once we landed, and greeted us with a chilled bottle of wine when we made it to the house.
The Bali house definitely lives up to the pictures and is very clean (it even passed my husband's clean standards). The kids declared they could not BELIEVE they were staying in such an awesome house. There are two bedrooms, one with the most comfortable bed and a sitting porch with ocean views in the main part of the house, and a back bedroom with a double bed AND a day bed off the bathroom. We put the kids in the back bedroom and took the main bedroom for us. It was nice to be able to cook breakfast and make coffee in the morning without disturbing the kids. We have already recommended it to our friends!
The black sand beach down the hill is amazing and swimmable. The waves are big enough to body surf or boogie board. Pahoa is a fun beach town with good restaurants if you must venture away from the house. We also stumbled upon a farmer's market on Sunday on our way to Volcanoes National Park that was the best for local flavor, fresh tropical fruit, and one-of-a-kind souvenirs.
Many thanks to Tim and Iliahi for making my family's Hawaiian vacation the "Best. Vacation. Ever." (according to the kids :).
Only 200 ft. and across the street to Kehena Black Sand Beach. We are only 2 miles from Kalapana home to Uncle Robert's Awa Bar with live entertainment Wed. and Fri. nights and Farmers Market, it also features a small corner store, restaurant and even a new forming Black Sand Beach.
