About Heidi Anderson
For over 15 years now we have been vacationing in Maine. We first found Stonington when visiting our daughter's godmother who relocated there from northern Virginia in 2001. We fell in love with the slow pace of life on Deer Isle and have returned almost every year since. It is truly a place where life slows down. In fact in many areas of town, cell phone service does not work. The only place for a WiFi connection is in front of the town library (don't worry we are connected at our house). We like to spend our days gazing out at the harbor and watching the lobster boats and sailboats and occassionally tall ships sail by, going to sand beach to pick up shells or simply picnic and relax; hiking the many trails on the island; taking the mailboat over to Isle au Haut for the day; kayaking; going to Blue Hill or even Acadia National Park for the day, the list goes on and on but relaxation is key for us! A few years ago, land became available and we decided to build a home so that our children can enjoy the same relaxed family vacations in the years to come. The Isabel Rose House is named for our 14 year old daughter who enjoys running down the hill in the morning to get a pumpkin chocolate chip muffin from the Harbor Cafe or an ice cream cone (mint chocolate chip) in the afternoon. She loves falling asleep to the sound of the fog horn in Penobscot Bay. We have decorated our home with nautical antiques acquired from my husband's military service (USMC) and having rented for years, have made sure that all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay are available. We hope that you will make many special memories in our Stonington retreat and will return every year. All the Best The Anderson Family

Great home - very nicely done and a great location. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
I am so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. I hope you return to Stonington again sometime. All the Best, Heidi
Great get-away place, especially for kayakers
We really enjoyed our stay at the Isabel Rose house. The house was great, everything is new and in great shape. It is conveniently located in Stonington, overlooking the harbour and islands. Enjoyed the views from the balconies.
We had great weather and took advantage to go sea kayaking almost everyday. There a lot of really nice paddling spots all over Deer Isle; Sandy beach, Reach Beach, Naskeug Point, etc. We brought our own kayaks but the house even comes with a few kayaks that can be used for those types of excursions. It will save you from renting.
If it is a nice day, you definitely should plan on visiting Isle aux Haut for the hiking in park.
Thank you for your kind review. I am glad you liked the house and were able to enjoy all the beauty of Stonington and Penobscot Bay.
Quiet, beautiful, escape from the city!
My daughter and I joined friends at this brand new, perfectly decorated, sleepy seaside home. The beds were comfortable, all the amenities one needs are there, the location was ideally situated with a view of the water from all the big windows, a delightful wraparound porch for kicking back and watching the scenery. There was a wonderful farmers market around the corner and around another corner was the heart of the town. Many shops, restaurants, the harbor where you can take a ferry to Deer Isle (not to be missed), the Lobster, it was all wonderful! We swam, we hiked, we walked all over and the people were friendly. The town of Stonington is a painters heaven and this house was the perfect perch to see it from!
Thank you for your kind words. I do hope that you will be able to visit Stonington again soon.
Don't Miss Out!!!
We arrived in Stonington to a beautiful home, comfortable, warm and welcoming!! Amazing views of Deer Isle and the Bay. Enjoyed wonderful restaurants and shops. Attended the farmers market and a local wine tasting. One of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations we have had, can't wait to go back next year!!!
Excellent new house, nice and open with wonderful views of Deer Isle Thouroughfare. Easy walk to Stonington restaurants and shops and wonderful weekly farmers market just around the corner. House is well equipped with everything one could possibly need. Location is perfect for discovering Deer Isle area or sitting back with a good book. Would highly recommend.
Thank you Walter and Linda for taking such great care of the Isabel Rose house. I hope you return again soon.
Highly Recommended for Quiet Family Vacations
I stayed in this property for a lovely one week vacation with my wife and two very small children. Stonington is a quaint fishing village with extremely friendly people. The owners of the house are friendly and solicitous. The house itself is located near the center of the village and provides easy walking access to shops, restaurants, and the harbor. It is new, spotless, and comfortable with great views and furnishings. We had a splendid vacation that included lobster (of course), visits to nearby islands, a community theater production, and time at the beach. My wife and children enjoyed very moment and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
Located in beautiful Stonington on Deer Isle, this house is perched atop a hill steps away from the historic Stonington Opera House. Stonington is the lobster capitol of the United States - it is a real downeast fishing village with an eclectic mix of residents including local artists, writers and theater performers. The daily mailboat to Isle au Haut (Acadia National Park) with the headquarters of Black Dinah chocolate is a must see! There is a sand beach just outside town and hiking trails all over the island. Children of all ages will have fun at the lily pond in nearby Deer Isle Village. If you are searching for a vacation off the beaten path with lots of beautiful outdoor activities, this place is for you.
