This is a lovely video of the area caherdaniel made by one of guests in waters edge cottage.
There are a couple important things which should be known in advance. 1) The property is located between two campgrounds. The kitchen window is about +/- 20 meters from a campsite where, if pitched, you can watch the campers. That said, this did not cause us any issues and it was mostly quiet. 2) Related to #1 above, the property has a camper/guest right-of-way along its left side and along the beach--don't expect total privacy. 3) The house might have been clean but it did not feel that way because of the aged furniture, animal smells and most of all--dampness with musty odors. To be fair, many properties so close to the water have this mildew issue. If you have animal or mold allergies, this place is not for you. Otherwise, the property was as described and a very fun place for the kids. They loved it and loved meeting folks in the campgrounds. Fishing, Kayaking, Horses and Football are all walkable or minutes by car.
The location and house itself were fantastic. Beautiful view. Convenient to many excellent sites (once you get used to driving with the fine people of Ireland!). Cathy was very thorough and helpful. We very much enjoyed our stay, ate in at the house a couple nights (liked having a grill!), washed clothes once or twice, etc.
The one slight detriment was the camping on both sides of the property. No noise issues but the bright lights there spoiled stargazing a bit.
We had an excellent riding experience with Eagle Rock Equestrian just around the corner. Glenbeig/Rossbeigh also has Burkes which is great for horseback riding. We enjoyed the Blind Piper (food, drinks, music, staff and clientele) there in Caherdaniel a lot. A trip around the Skelligs was great. We left from Portmagee and saw dolphins and diving birds along the way. You must book months in advance to climb Skellig Michael as the Star Wars activities have the place on hyperdrive. But a jaunt around the island isn't too hard to get.
Waterville and Cahersiveen weren't too far and offered some bigger shopping choices. There's a lot of details of where to shop, eat, hike, etc in the house. Kerry National Park and the road from there to Caherdaniel was full of excellent lakes and sites. Driving the road could be a bit trying but we managed pretty well.
We were there to enjoy Ireland and didn't watch a lot of TV but if you intend to note there are few channels only at the house. There is a DVD player so you can use it or plug video directly into the TV itself.
Overall, very pleased with the property, the location and Cathy's management of the site. Love Ireland!
We had a great time at the cottage.

We stayed four nights in this lovely cottage. The house was very clean and comfortable. Our favorite place was the sitting room with the big windows and the look to the ocean. The customer service was perfect. We'll recommend the cottage to our friends. The food (lamb) in the Pub 'Blind Piper' was delicious. Thank you Cathy for this wonderful accomodation!
A lovely house, great, large rooms, good beds and very nice situated with a big garden and sight to the ocean.
Great place for a family and/or to ease down.
I stayed at this beautiful rental property in December 2012. Myself and my family had such a pleasant stay with amazing views of the ocean from the property (literally 10metres!!!!!). We had everything we needed for the stay and were able to entertain our friends who live nearby. The living space was nice and large, but cosy! We lit the fire every night. Every where was immaculate, clean and tidy. The kids thoroughly enjoyed their stay too and craved the out doors. Would highly recommend this rental property and look forward to our annual return in 2013.
