3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8
My husband Dave and I met on Seneca Lake when I was in High School. At the time my grandparents owned the cottage and I was visiting them on summer vacation. Dave's parents had recently purchased the cottage two doors down. When we met I lived in Connecticut and Dave lived in Johnson City New York. We had a long-distance relationship while I went to school in Boston and he was finishing school at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester NY. After we got married we continued to visit Seneca Lake on weekends in the summer. It was important to us to keep the cottage in our family so we bought it from my family when it became available. Due to water issues in the dirt basement of the cottage we had to raise it up and build a new foundation. This started several years of renovations that included everything except the original floor boards between the fist and second floor. Our family was very involved in completing most of the renovations. We are very proud of what we built and we are happy to share our little piece of paradise with renters. We currently live in the Binghamton New York area which is about an hour and forty-five-minute drive to the cottage. Our family has spent many weeks and weekends enjoying all Seneca Lake has to offer and the cottage is a special place to us. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we have.
Michelle purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Michelle chose Himrod
This cottage was my grandparents since 1970. My husband and I bought it from the family in 2007 when our kids were 8 and 10 years old. We love the lake and all the area has to offer. We hope you do too!
What makes this Cottage unique

What a lovely stay! The house was exceptionally clean and well organized and the lake is right in your backyard. Morning coffee or an evening glass of wine on the upper deck or sitting in the porch swing was a delight. The owners were helpful and clearly take pains to make sure you enjoy your stay. The surrounding area is peaceful and serene. Miles Winery is a short walk from the property and many other wineries plus great restaurants in either Penn Yan or Watkins Glen are close by. We rented a pontoon boat one afternoon from Roy’s Marina (about 15 minutes away) and on other days really enjoyed the kayaks, water toys and swimming. Spotted Duck creamery for ice cream in Penn Yan is a must as well as Colonial ice cream in Watkins Glen. Really a wonderful week.
So glad you enjoyed your stay.
We will have to try Spotted Duck Creamery next time we are in town.
Thanks for the recommendations!
Hope you will stay again next summer,
Seneca Lake Getaway
The property was very well maintained and we thought it was a beautiful cottage. There were a lot of nice welcoming touches and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Thank you for staying and we are glad you enjoyed the cottage. Hope you will stay with us again next season.
Great Family Vacation on the Lake
We have stayed at this home for several years now. The house is perfect even for a family
with small children. The owners are always receptive to renter's suggestions. And they respond immediately to any issues that might arise
We can't wait to return next year!
Seneca Lake house
The location was perfect! The most beautiful views of the lake with easy access to kayaking! The owner was so easy to contact and very responsive! We took our 2 young children 2 and 3 years old and they had a great time. The house was very clean and family friendly! We will be back again if traveling to the finger lakes area in the future!!
When you return to the finger lakes we look forward to hosting your family again. Thanks for the positive feedback.
We have stayed on Seneca many times, but no property compares to this one! The location was perfect, the views were breathtaking. Michelle was a fantastic host and she had everything we could possibly need at the cottage. It was immaculate! Thank you for a wonderful stay- we hope to visit again!
Wow... "perfection"! Thank you for the kind words and positive feedback.
We hope you will come back next year!
I recently stayed at this beautiful cottage on Seneca lake for my bachelorette party. The host was very responsive to messages and we were able to arrive to the cottage early! The home was everything that was described on the website and the views were absolutely beautiful! Highly recommend this place if you are ever looking to stay right on Seneca Lake.
We are so glad you enjoyed your bachelorette party and your stay at our cottage. We hope you will return in the future.
Seneca Sunrise is in walking distance to Miles Vineyard which is on the Seneca Lake Wine Tail. If you like to walk or bike you have to visit the Keuka Trail. Being half way up the west side of Seneca make a trip to Geneva or Watkins Glenn an easy 25 minute drive. So many wineries in-between!
