City of Marco House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Escape the rat race and come visit a little slice of paradise. Stay in my three-bedroom, two-bath home on Marco Island. My non-smoking home is located on an over-sized lot in a peaceful setting at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and backs onto the Island County Club for fantastic views. My home can comfortably accomodate a large family; it's also perfect for couples traveling together or as a romantic and extra-spacious getaway for two.

My house features a living room, family room, kitchen, dining area, three bedrooms, and two baths. The kitchen includes all appliances, refrigerator, cook top, oven, microwave, dishwasher, disposal, coffee maker, toaster and all pots, pans, dishes, glasses, and silverware. Everything you need, should you choose to cook.

In the master bedroom is a king-size bed, its own TV, and a separate walk-in closet/dressing area. Bedroom two has twin beds with TV. Bedroom three doubles as an office with wireless wifi for your computer, a TV and a full-sized, pull-down, Murphy bed. There is also additional sleeping with a queen-sized sofa bed in the living room. All rooms have ceiling fans and the house is fully air conditioned.

The two-car garage has automatic opener and washer and dryer.

Access to the lanai (screened-in patio) is from the living room or family room and features an over-sized, 16-foot by 32-foot pool, which, of course, is heated for your year-round pleasure. For your convenience there is a pass-through window from the kitchen to the lanai. Whether sitting on the lanai or swimming in the pool, you are sure to enjoy the spectacular views of the beautifully manicured golf course, with numerous trees and flowers that are always in bloom. While relaxing pool side, you may be visited by the bald eagles when they rest in my North Fork Pine.

If you decide to spend time inside there is a 36-inch TV (with cable) and both a VCR and DVD player, or you may decide to explore Marco Island on the available bikes. Included is wireless hookup for your computer (you will need your own printer) and free nationwide long-distance phone service. The home is family friendly with child safety locks on all sliding doors leading to the lanai and pool.

Marco Island is a vacationer's paradise with numerous restaurants, shopping, water sports, golfing, groceries, sport rentals, and charter fishing, offering something for everyone. If you grow tired of Marco Island, Naples is a short 25-minute drive with its many offerings. My home is also close to the Everglades and its many recreational activities such as swamp buggies, airboats, canoe tours, etc. The city of Miami is just a short two-hour drive away. However, if you decide to spend the day at the beach, you'll find beach equipment available for your enjoyment.

About Joan Bagwell, owner

My work as a Women's Healt Nurse Practitioner for twenty years has taught me to enjoy this quiet sanctuary. I love the beauty of the golf course and long to see the bald eagles in my tree. At night I watch the sky explodes with stars. This is my place to distress.

Joan Bagwell, owner purchased this house in 2002

Why Joan Bagwell, owner chose Marco Island

I was never planning to buy a home in Southwest Florida, but after I was in this home five minutes, I knew it was the place for me. I strive to provide a quality home and hope you enjoy your stay. Many of my quests have returned for multiple visits. Perhaps you will too.

What makes this house unique

My home is quiet. I'm at the end of a cul-de-sac and on the Island Country Club is privately owned. You can walk, run or bike the cart path after golfing hours. The bald eagle's nest is on the next fairway.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have rented homes in south west Florida in past summers so we had an idea of what to expect in terms of price and location. This year we were traveling with our small dog too, which significantly increased the amount we were going to have to pay. Most available on our price range were 1 bed, 1 bath with extra pet deposits and added cleaning fees on top of the quoted nightly rate. We got really excited when the price quoted for this home was comparable to the smaller condos AND it had its own pool!

This home seemed too good to be true but surpassed our expectations! The location was amazing - it was awesome watching the birds and weather come in over the golf course. The home was cozy and clean with all you'd expect, clean linens, lots of kitchen appliances, great washer and dryer. Plus lots of little extras like board games, pool and beach toys and bikes (though we couldn't find an air pump for the tires). The pool was cleaned while we were there and grass was cut the day we left. No sign of fleas or that other dogs had stayed or visited before.

And while we didn't see the American bald eagles in the Norfolk pine while we were there, we loved watching the endangered Burrowing owls down the street!

Absolutely wonderful!

What a wonderful vacation here in Marco Island at Joan's home!

My husband and I along with a couple of friends stayed at Joan's home for a week in paradise! Joan's home had everything we needed. The house was spacious, clean and offered such beautiful open views of the golf course. The setting was beautiful and serene. The home is located on a cul-de-sac and there are no neighbors on one side, naturally we really enjoyed the privacy it provided. Location is key for me and Joan's home is conveniently located to everything that Marco Island has to offer. Literally just a few minutes from the beaches, restaurants and shops.

We so enjoyed this home along with it's beautiful Lanai and swimming pool! We all had an amazing vacation and we hope to return to this beautiful island.

Thanks Joan for a very memorable vacation in such a wonderful setting!

My overall impression is mixed. While some things were exceptional, others weren't.

  • 3 of 5

I was very pleased with the golf course that borders the property. It was extremely well groomed and beautiful as well as quiet. A joy to be able to walk my dog on the cart pathways that lead around the course. I enjoyed my private pool which faced the golf course and had my morning coffee outside every day. The master bedroom had a very nice mattress so resting was comfortable. I was a little put-off by the housekeeping that had been done prior to my arrival as there was brown hair all over the bathroom that was adjacent to the master bedroom. The floor rugs in that room were dirty as well. The family room furniture left something to be desired. It was not comfortable at all but unfortunately that's where the rather old primary tv was located. There were smaller tvs in the bedrooms. Shows were somewhat limited so it didn't matter much. Bring your own dvds to watch. There was a leaking pipe in the garage ceiling that dripped enough water so that I had to daily empty a kitchen trash can that had been set below it so that there wasn't water running all over the garage floor. The leak was fixed a few days before I was to leave. The landscaping around the outside of the house was overgrown with a lot of debris and brown grass. The beds were weedy and everything just had an unkempt look about it. I was a little embarrassed to be seen there although everyone nearby knows it as the "rental" house. I had to fight the urge to go out and pull weeds or pick up cinder blocks that were scattered around. I did enjoy having my own house to stay in and would look for another such property to stay in. While there is a gas grill, the ignition no longer works...make sure you bring a firestarter with you. There was a reverse osmosis water spigot in the kitchen to obtain drinking water but this was no longer functional as the water tasted slightly tinged just like the water from the regular faucet. The coffee maker looked stained and burnt. I bought a new one to use at the local walmart and took it home. I think this house could be a very nice place to vacation in with a little more TLC and some updating. It certainly was a sizable place for a family or for a few couples looking to get away. The upside for me was being able to have a pet but I did notice I was the only one who used 'doggie' bags to clean up after. The neighbors dogs weren't all that friendly and came over to toilet in the yard around my rental as well as on the golf course with no one cleaning it up

Owner's Response: Thank you for you feedback. I take pride in keeping my home in the best condition and wished the management company had been notified so I could of had the problems corrected. I did just have the entire interior paint last fall. The cleaning staff should've caught the hair and dirty rugs. The leak in the garage was due to a block in the air conditioner drain pan and the the overflow pipe leak prevent damage to the home. I had it fixed as soon as I learned of it. In regards to the landscape, I had just completed a landscape project and would not have expected the beds to overgrow so quickly. Again, had my management company learned of the problem, they would have been able to notify me, so I could get the problem corrected.. My neighbors are all very friendly and have commented how nice the house looks. I take pride in keeping my home nice. Unfortunately, I cannot control my neighbor's dogs. Televisions are constantly changing and quickly become outdated. There was a new large flat screen HD TV in the master bedroom and I'm in the process of replacing the others. Lastly I'm sorry your vacation was not as anticipated. If there were any problems I do ask that the management company be notified.

Private location and well equipped home for a lovely vacation

  • 4 of 5

My family and I spent a week at Joan's house, and our vacation was fantastic. The house was exactly as advertised. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the house, and the location was great. It was a quick drive to the beaches, stores and restaurants. Since the house backs up to the golf course and only has a neighbor on one side, it feels very private and offers great views of the course from the patio. My kids loved having a pool right outside the door, and they also appreciated the amount of beach toys provided. We really weren't lacking anything all week! We did suggest that the management company include info about the pool heater because we don't have any experience with heaters (and assume other people might not either!), and we didn't know if the pool even had one. The pool maintenance guy happened to stop by toward the end of our stay and showed us how to operate the heater. It had been set to 66 degrees which would explain why the water was so cold! If we had known about the heater and how to use it, the adults would have spent much more time in the pool during our stay. The kids didn't care about the temperature of the water though! We absolutely love Marco Island, and I have been visiting since I was a kid. I would definitely stay at Joan's house again!

Owner's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed my home and had a good stay.. The pool is normally kept at 86 degree for the comfort of my guests. Previously I had instructed the pool service to set the temperature. Thank you for letting me know it was changed. If the the pool cover is not replace after use, the temperature will drop down. New measures are in place to prevent this from happening again. Please contact me or my management company whenever a problem is found. I understand that you look forward to your vacation and only want to make it the best.

Quiet and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable home with nice view of the 10th green at the Island Country Club. Enjoyed the king bed in the Master. Everything was clean and in tip top shape. Loved the quiet as the house is at the end of a dead end street.

I would like to say that the time my wife and I spent at this residence on the island was the most relaxing ever. we enjoyed breakfast on the lenai with the beautiful sunrise. I would have to say that it is the most quiet and relaxing vaction that we have. neighbors are nice and friendly and the location of the house is set nicely and convient to stores on the island. I would recommend this property to any of my friends and family for upcoming vacations. and the most majestic of the time was the bald eagles sitting atop the pine tree on the property. such a majestic animal. I would like to thank you for allowing us in your home and hope to be able to revist it again above any other vacation spot in the florida area.
