Beautiful villa in a stunning region of Turkey

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa Eden in late December/early January. It was a very quaint, well-furnished home nestled in the beautiful (and surprisingly lively) village of Kayakoy. The owners were very attentive both in the lead-up to and during our stay (via email and Whats App). They welcomed us with a home-cooked meal (with freshly-baked bread!), which got our stay off to a lovely and homey start. While they were very helpful throughout the stay, they also made sure to respect our privacy, only coming by when we asked them for something. We were rather concerned that the place would not be warm enough for winter, but we were pleasantly surprised that, as long as we kept the fire going in the beautiful living room, the main area remained warm enough to feel comfortable sitting and reading or eating dinner. The hosts provided the wood that we required – we were careful with the amount we used and so did not end up needing to ask for any more. We also used the outside bbq/firepit. Each of the rooms had their own ac/heating systems, which were sometimes a bit patchy/noisy, but mostly kept the rooms warm. There was a separate bedroom/bathroom with its own outside entrance, which was perfect to allow privacy for my sister and her partner and their new baby. The hosts obviously have good attention to detail in terms of the décor of the villa, and were generous in including basics like dish soap, dishwasher tabs, toilet paper, spices etc. The town itself is small, but lively, and is within 10 mins (walking distance). Way more restaurants were open in winter than we expected, including the amazing Cin Bal (which is labeled as a kebap restaurant but is actually much more (with excellent lamb and other meat dishes, including bbqs at each table, as well as great salads, mezes etc) and Lebessos for a lovely fireside traditional breakfast. The old ruins of Kayakoy are also reached within 10 mins of the villa, as well as the hike down to Oludeniz. Overall, we highly recommend this villa – for the villa itself, its location in quaint Kayakoy and the lovely hosts Arife and Oliver. Thank you again for the stay. We hope to be back, perhaps in spring/summer/fall to make use of the lovely pool and outdoor seating areas.

Villa Eden Kayakoy

  • 5 of 5

This is an excellent, spacious, well kept property with considerate owners who live next door. The pool and surrounding area is large with well kept gardens, and a separate area for BBQ. It is private and not overlooked. It is located at the end of a bit of a rough road but nothing terrible. There is a tight squeeze to get between 2 buildings on the way in, which was ok in our Saloon but may cause problems for people driving larger vehicles.

The actual villa is beautiful inside. The only downside is that the 3 rd bedroom, with another good outside seating area, is situated upstairs via an outdoor spiral staircase (which is steep). This was no good for our children as a bit too young to be left to their own devices and should be noted by families. Arife was kind enough to put another bed downstairs in the master bedroom (which is large), which is where our 3 children slept.

Overall, this was great value for money, especially as we rented during peak season. The owners also have 2 other villas on the same site which look of similar quality, but with different layout ,so may be worth checking their website, as you can book direct.

Our feedback on our stay

  • 4 of 5

We had a very enjoyable stay in this very attractive villa, which compared very well to the many other villas we have stayed in. The hosts were very friendly and left us to enjoy our stay in peace. The pool was excellent, and very clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable.

The few comments we have are as follows:

1. the track to the villa was VERY rough, and also there was no notification of the narrow width - we might have hired a car that was too wide !

2. there was no book in the villa telling us about local amenities, restaurants, places of interest etc.

3. there were no plugs for the kitchen sink or the bathroom basin.

4. a liquid soap dispenser in the bathroom would have been preferable to a bar of soap (which became very messy after a couple of days !)

5. there were no cloths or cleaning materials to keep the kitchen surfaces clean.

We know that these are small points, but they do make a difference when away from home.

We send our best wishes and thanks again for a good time.

Fantastic Villa, Fantastic Host, Fantastic Holiday

  • 5 of 5

The place was absolutely brilliant... I think it was one of the best holidays we had as a family. Arife and Oliver were the perfect hosts. The place is amazing, its rural, quite, private and above all allows you the time to relax and take in the mountain views and scenery. You will need a car as the restaurants are approx 4 mins drive from the villa.

We stuck to about 3 restaurants in the village. All were brilliant, Istanbul, Muzzy's place, Avalon Steppes although there were plenty more to choose from.

The pool was amazing, fresh water and no chlorine.... heaven.

Arife arranged a full day boating trip with Tamar and his lovely wife, it is well worth taking up, he took us to about 5 quite beaches where we swam in the sea and his wife cooked an amazing lunch... no less than 14 different dishes... I was stuffed.

There is loads to do also, we went to gemlier beech which is a secluded beech about 15 mins drive from the villa, quad biking for my kids, Hisaranu is a short drive away if you want to dance the night away and of course Olu deniz and the beautiful lagoon.

We as a family will be definitely rebooking soon and will be telling our friends and family to do the same.

If you are having any doubts booking, don't...... book it and enjoy....

Kaya is an unspoilt mountain village and is, in itself, a tourist attraction. It’s population was a mixture of Turkish and Greek until the 1920’s when political differences between the two countries governments resulted in a population exchange. All Greeks in turkey returned to Greece and vice versa. From then the once- Greek homes are now in ruins. Some people mistakenly call Kaya the “Ghost Town” but this is inaccurate as there is still a thriving Turkish community there.

The village is 15 minutes by car from both Fethiye & Olu Deniz beach, the most beautiful & famous beaches in Turkey. There is a regular mini-bus service from the village square to these places as well as to Hisaronu, a bustling village with plenty of restaurants and nightlife 10 minutes away. It is surrounded by mountains & forests, wonderful for walks & picnics and relaxing.
