Arrived about 5:00pm (well after check-in time). Dirty sheets and towels in laundry room. Beds not made. Bathroom and kitchen not cleaned. No instructions for connecting to wifi. TV not working properly. Called owner and was told "these things happen" - told him not in the other units have rented. "Daughter getting married tomorrow, things are crazy. Congratulations , but that is not helping me" Owner said he would have cleaning lady come and cleanup - which she did at 7:00pm - pleasant lady, did a good job. Brother of owner came and fixed TV. After a lot of calls back and forth, and still not being able to connect to wifi - we were able to use the cleaning lady's connection. The owner did offer to put us up in another hotel for our three day stay. I did not take his offer seriously. And after spending almost nine hours in the car driving to Lancaster, the last thing I wanted to do was to pack up the car and drive to another location. This all happened on Friday, there were no other problems on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The unit is decorated simply but is certainly serviceable. Appliances all worked fine. Could have used a few more cups and plates. More light in the bedroom would be helpful specially on a dark, rainy morning. I am giving the owner the benefit of the doubt - new rental, daughter getting married, etc - but you decide.
In response. We don't really have a set check in or Check out time. We try to stay flexible as this is the most requested things our Guests ask for. This Guests arrived an hour earlier than they told us they would. We realized we were not going to be done cleaning at this earlier time. We explained this to the Guest and offered any accommodation in Town at any price for all three days. Guest declined, thought it best to stay and complain. We then got a call from the Guest's phone on our wi-fi network to tell us the our wi-fi network didn't work. And also there was no instructions on how to hook up to her Tablet to the Wi-Fi. With apple's two Operating systems three different versions of windows and two versions of android she is right. I most likely have no idea how to write instructions on how to get her tablet on the wi-fi network. However to remedy this we have just promoted one of our housekeeping people to head the IT department. And somehow she has her own shareable Wi-Fi connection. I also didn't realize the Comcast remote and the TV remote still caused so much trouble together. I wish they could just work out their problems. Maybe a little counseling or perhaps just a little better communication. Until then it's source #2 on channel 4. and everything works fine. If you read the rest of her review. She's right. Our daughter (The daytime Cleaning person) was getting married the next day and we had to go to rehearsal. As the guest stated everything else was fine. Or was promptly made right. I have had over 130 reviews between our two rooms. And every one was positive. When she said My Daughter's wedding wasn't her problem and it was no excuse not have the room ready early. I don't think I could have made her happy under any circumstances.
This is a fairly new rental, so it was not without hiccups, but my husband and I enjoyed our stay.
The minor issues: we did not receive an entrance code, so fortunately Kevin had called us and I received the code directly from him. Check in time was 4pm, but we arrived at 6 and cleaners were still there-I think we rushed them because floors could have been cleaner. There is no dresser in bedroom and although the laundry room is large and we hung some clothes up, we did have to "live out of our suitcases". I would have appreciated more light in the bedroom. None of those things are deal breakers and I assume things will only get better.
The pluses are numerous! The location seems pretty central to everything. We did not go into downtown Lancaster, but location was nice for the Amish experience and visiting my daughter in Elizabethtown. Try Ida's Cafe (you can see it from the apartment)for breakfast. The location was quiet, nice deck on the back. The kitchen was well equipped, the bathroom had ample space. Bedroom is big(just needs a dresser) and laundry room is huge. Kevin was very responsive to emails and calls. If my daughter stays in Etown we will definitely return.
