About David Dilday

I grew up in the Northeast and would visit my grandmother in NC often. I have always loved vacationing in the NC mountains.

David Dilday purchased this cabin in 2010

Why David Dilday chose North Carolina

I bought this property because my girls and I loved the mountains of NC. There is so much to do and see and the people are great. This property has tons of peace and privacy but is within 20 minutes of down town Hendersonville and all the shopping, restaurants, and exploring you would ever want.

What makes this cabin unique

We love the cool mountain air, spring and fall colors, and having a place to get away from it all, yet be close enough to all the activities you could ever want. You get the best of both worlds. Relax in the hammocks on the veranda or kick back on the large porch. Hike down to the pond or stream and listen to the relaxing sounds of the water and birds.

Guestbook comments from the manager

My husband and I had a wonderful 5 year anniversary getaway here at the cabin. We loved taking our dogs for walks. We had a very scenic trip to Hendersonville when our GPS sent us left out of the driveway. The NC Aboretum was a beautiful visit and afterwards we enjoyed ice cream and window shopping in Hendersonville. The waterfalls were beautiful and we could have spent several days at the park, but mostly we enjoyed unwinding in this beautiful escape. The hammocks were our favorite reading spot and we loved having the windows open to enjoy the sounds of nature.

Peaceful cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend!! This cabin is perfectly tucked in the woods and creates a private setting to unwind. We loved that the cabin was bright, clean and uncluttered creating a comfortable atmosphere. There were plenty of electrical outlets and a well stocked kitchen. Easy check in and out instructions and the phone number was readily available for the owner. The privacy gate provides a secure entrance and exit as the road is not visible from the cabin. There are great hiking areas, restaurants and variety of things to do around the cabin. We visited Sky Top apple orchard, Carl Sandburg House, Hubba Hubba smokehouse (so good but cash or check only), water falls, Burntshirt vineyard, Sliding Rock (kids had a blast!!), downtown Brevard and Henderson have great stores, coffee shops and food. Lime Leaf Thai was one of our favorites in downtown Henderson. Outside of the restaurants everything was free or minimal entrance fees and dog friendly!!

Enjoyed disconnection from technology

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is definitely secluded except for a couple houses down the mountain. The drive is pretty steep. The best part is there was no cell (t-mobile) service and therefore no reason to pick up the phone and no calls from the kids. Cabin has a little musty smell but that can be expected with an old cabin. We would go back.

The quintessential cozy cabin not far from all the must-see things.

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and I spent an amazing, albeit too-short, weekend at The Veranda. It's an adorable cabin that is well stocked for all the essentials. It's hard not to feel at home here, a home away from home. You can find plenty of things to do on the property or head out for convenient day trips. The rain at night on the tin roof was such a comfort and the locusts create the perfect white noise to fall asleep to. We would definitely stay at the Veranda again.

We spent a morning exploring Flat Rock, having a great lunch at the Village Cafe and Pub before heading out to Chimney rock. On the way back to the Veranda, we stopped for some delicious BBQ at Hubba Hubba Smokehouse. The ribs and brisket were to die for. The next day we drove through Pisgah stopping for small hikes up to the many waterfalls. We spent the evening back at the cabin grilling steaks out on the porch. After dinner, we made a fire so we could have some Smores for dessert. The skies opened up and it down poured, complete with thunder and lightning while we sat by the fire. One of the best experiences we had the whole weekend was breakfast at The Tuxedo Diner on Monday. This place is just just on the other side of HWY 25. It's not much to look at from the outside but inside, it is adorable and comfortable and clean.

Thank you for creating the perfect home away from home for our quiet weekend.

Peaceful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is remote, and we found it very quiet and peaceful. It was the perfect size for my husband and I. Although we spent most of the daytime away from the cabin, it was nice to end the day in such a relaxing atmosphere.

Great place to unplug

Charming rustic cabin, close to Flat Rock (get the best BBQ of your life at Hubba Hubba Smokehouse). Just be aware that there is no wifi or cell service. Perfect for escaping from demands of modern life.
