I grew up in the Northeast and would visit my grandmother in NC often. I have always loved vacationing in the NC mountains.
David Dilday purchased this cabin in 2010
I bought this property because my girls and I loved the mountains of NC. There is so much to do and see and the people are great. This property has tons of peace and privacy but is within 20 minutes of down town Hendersonville and all the shopping, restaurants, and exploring you would ever want.
We love the cool mountain air, spring and fall colors, and having a place to get away from it all, yet be close enough to all the activities you could ever want. You get the best of both worlds. Relax in the hammocks on the veranda or kick back on the large porch. Hike down to the pond or stream and listen to the relaxing sounds of the water and birds.
My husband and I had a wonderful 5 year anniversary getaway here at the cabin. We loved taking our dogs for walks. We had a very scenic trip to Hendersonville when our GPS sent us left out of the driveway. The NC Aboretum was a beautiful visit and afterwards we enjoyed ice cream and window shopping in Hendersonville. The waterfalls were beautiful and we could have spent several days at the park, but mostly we enjoyed unwinding in this beautiful escape. The hammocks were our favorite reading spot and we loved having the windows open to enjoy the sounds of nature.
We had a wonderful stay at the Veranda. We felt like we were all alone on the mountain but still able to get to Hendersonville easily. The cabin had everything we needed and was just right for getting away from the world. Hammocks and hiking were the order of the weekend!

Perfect place to stay in the mountains! Near many state parks and beautiful sites. Great cabin- clean, cozy, and has all amenities needed for a relaxing vacation! Owner is very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend staying at this place!
The cabin is quiet and well-equipped. We arrived at the property in a heavy downpour, so we got a little wet unlocking the gate. We were able to navigate up the gravel drive in our Ford Taurus. Once we had our gear in the cabin, we enjoyed sitting under the covered deck listening to the rain hit the roof. The grill was nice as we cooked out on several occasions. It was nice having information on the local area in the cabin.
We enjoyed our stay and the property was exactly what we expected. It had everything we needed and was well kept. Neighbors were sometimes annoying riding dirt bikes for hours but the cabin location was convenient to all the places we wanted to visit (Chimney Rock, Brevard, Waterfall Hikes). If we have to head that way again I would definitely rebook. Our favorite place to spend our time was on the porch and deck.
The listing description was accurate and the property was clean and well maintained. We had a problem with 2 appliances, the dryer and refrigerator. The owner was trying to remedy the problem.
We (myself, my daughter and my son in law) enjoyed our stay in the Rustic Log Cabin. In the mornings you could sit drinking coffee on the porch and listen to the many birds chirping, one was clearly the Mocking Jay sound from the movie of that name. We were comfortable in the cabin and survived no internet connection inside, step off the porch some and you had access. It was good to get away for a week, our focus wasn't having an internet connection, but to get outdoors and enjoy the area. The cabin is centrally located so you have an easy drive to the activities you enjoy, we were looking for hikes along the Blue Ridge Parkway and a variety of other beautiful dog friendly parks and that is what we did. I would recommend the property to a friend.
Property is secluded although we could hear some neighbors at times. Loved waking up to a sympony of birds! Cabin is furnished in a simple and functional manner--perfect. Grill was clean and worked well. Bed was comfortable and bathrooms were good and clean. I liked having the covered porch and fireplace. The front door is a little bit low for a person over 6 feet 2 inches so watch your head going in and out. But honestly, this added to the charm of the place for us. Overall, we really liked the cabin and would visit again. And we appreciate how well the owner keeps and manages the property.
We are within easy driving distance of a number of area attractions which include Chimney Rock Park, Lake Lure, The Biltmore Estate, Pisgah National Forest, Dupont Forest, Flat Rock Playhouse, Bat Cave, Grandfather Mountain, Mt. Mitchell, Blue Ridge Parkway, Linville Caverns, Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, Blue Ridge Corn Maze, Gorges State Park, and The Carl Sandburg Home. These are all about 30 minutes from our Cabin. Downtown Hendersonville has many shops including antique shops, classic diner and soda shop, home made fudge store, and a Mast General Store, just to name a few, and lots of great restaurants, which are only a 20 minute drive. There are many festivals and bands the play in the downtown area throughout the year. We have ski slopes in the winter and hiking, waterfalls, white water rafting, and horseback riding in the summer. Whatever your interest in the mountains, you're sure to find it here in Hendersonville.
