It’s rare to find a large chalet just a few minutes walk from the very centre of Chamonix - especially one that has been renovated to such a high standard.
Chalet les Sauberands is a top quality 6-bedroom chalet that has been completely refurbished using the finest local materials, including aged oak and rejuvenated existing timbers. This chalet combines traditional Savoyard style with modern luxuries such as underfloor heating, Wifi on all floors, flat screen TVs, wired-in sound systems and a hot tub.
The chalet opens into an entrance hall with large coat cupboard. There are two of the six bedrooms, both of which have an ensuite shower room, and an additional WC. All of the bedrooms are flexible so can be prepared as double or twin beds. The lounge/media room has satellite TV which gives a range of UK channels, private study area and glass doors which open onto the deck. From the hallway, a door gives access to the garage which has room for ski storage and a heated boot rack. The boiler room has a washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside, on the deck, there is an eight-person hot tub with views of Mont Blanc. On the first floor, there is a bedroom, a bathroom and an additional WC. The living area is open plan and very spacious. The lounge area has comfortable seating and a stone fireplace. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped and the dining table seats 12. Three sets of glass doors open onto a balcony with mountain views. Steps lead down to the deck which has an eight-person hot tub and opens onto the garden. On the second floor, there are the remaining three bedrooms (one with an ensuite shower room) and a separate bathroom.
The deck has outdoor dining furniture and there is a BBQ for use during the Summer. There is adequate parking space in the driveway. Chalet les Sauberands provides a luxurious and stylish chalet for up to 12 guests with the convenience of being a few minutes walk from the town centre.
Skiing and snowboarding: Chamonix is one of the world's most famous ski areas, having hosted the first Winter Olympics in 1924. Skiers and snowboarders of all levels are well-served in a variety of differing areas around Chamonix, including Brevent, Flegere, the famous Grands Montets and Domaine du Balme. The Mont Blanc pass also covers nearby areas including Les Houches, St Gervais, Megeve, Courmayeur and Les Contamines, all within an easy drive. Slightly further afield, but within an hour's drive are Verbier, La Thuile, Flaine and Les Carroz. Despite its reputation as an area for experts only, there are plenty of green, blue and red runs to satisfy beginners and intermediates alike. For the more experienced, Chamonix has miles and miles of adventurous off-piste, including the famous Vallee Blanche, an 18 km experience from the Aiguille du Midi down to the town.
Summer and the rest of the year: With the draw of Europe's premier natural attraction, Mont Blanc, Chamonix never sleeps. Whether it's simply to soak up the stunning scenery or get the adrenaline pumping, there is plenty for everybody to do all year round. There are a wide variety of marked trails for hiking and trekking; well-maintained bolted routes for rock-climbing; limitless mountaineering opportunities including Mont Blanc itself; an ever-expanding network of mountain bike trails; some of the most consistent thermals for superb paragliding; raging white water rapids for rafting and hydro speeding; canyoning and abseiling down the spectacular valley gorges; golf at the Trent Jones Sr designed 18 hole course in Chamonix, as well as many other top quality courses nearby; the sports centre has an indoor and outdoor 50 m swimming pool and a large grassed sunbathing area, water slides, numerous tennis courts, gym, spa, jacuzzi, the list goes on!

We have just returned from what I would describe as the Perfect Mountain Holiday Home. There were 12 persons in our group and the Chalet was ideal for this amount. The situation was Perfect as the Chalet is 5 mins walk from the town centre and only 5 mins walk from Les Planards ski slope where there is ample skiing for beginners and those who want to push themselves a little further. But in a very quiet and relaxed area. The garden is big enough for kids to build their many Snowmen.
The facilities at the Chalet are all of a high standard, the rooms are of ample size and the property was clean and tidy. The Hot Tub was used every evening after a hard day skiing and was perfect for those aching bones.
The Log fire was fantastic and is the focal point of the Lounge and dining room. There is Sky TV but who needs it when you have a lovely fire like that to sit and stare at.
The company who looked after us (Mountain Base) were fantastic from the moment that we booked the Chalet. Nothing is too much trouble and they have a range of activities which they are happy to organise. We were even asked how we would like the bedrooms organised (singles, double beds..) which in all of the apartments and chalets where we have stayed before has never been asked. As a little extra touch, I asked as to whether the fire could be lit and ablaze for when we arrived. It was and what a lovely welcome.
In Summary, the chalet was ideally located, perfectly maintained with the quality equipment which you would expect from this type of Property, and a perfect holiday home for Mountain based activities. I would highly recommend Chalet Sauberands to all! Just wish we could have stayed longer!
Chalet Sauberands was the perfect chalet for a long-awaited luxurious family Christmas holiday and located to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. It is a fabulously designed and decorated chalet, full of charm and ambience.
The chalet provides good accommodation for several generations of a family holidaying together. It was great to have a lounge room downstairs for the kids to watch their TV programs, while the big kids relaxed after dinner in front of the log fire. And with four bathrooms - there was no fighting for baths and showers after skiing. It was amazing to sit in the hot tub relaxing your aching muscles, while drinking in the view of the mountains. AWESOME!!!
The chalet is perfectly located with a short stroll into the heart of Chamonix town centre, and easy access to the main train station and the Mer de Glace station. If you don't fancy dining in - you are within a easy walk to some fantastic restaurants.
We all loved it and would highly recommend it.
