It's impossible not to sit back and relax on this quiet 3/4 acres vacation rental situated on the Manistee River. We affectionately refer to it as 'Lee-Sures Way.' Enjoy our favorite pastime - railing, which is reclining in a chair on the spacious wrap around deck with your feet up on the railing just watching the river go by! From that vantage point you actually look down into the river. The splendor of unspoiled state land is right across the river.

*** The River (fishing, canoeing, kayaking) ***
This portion of the Upper Manistee River has been given special designation by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as a 'Michigan Natural River' because of it's pristine water quality and abundant and unspoiled natural environs and wildlife. This section of the river is designated for fly fishing only and offers some of Michigan's best trout fishing. Brown, Brook, and Rainbow trout abound. Nearby fisherman landmarks are Yellow Tree, Burnt Cabin, Pearls on a Necklace, and the CCC Bridge. The river also affords excellent canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and swimming opportunities. Two canoe liveries are located nearby. Many inland lakes as well as Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are nearby offering several fine beaches and fishing.
*** ORV, Snowmobiling ***
Off the river the area is prime for ORV enthusiasts in the summertime and snowmobilers in the winter. You can step right out the door and right on to your machine. State land surrounds the area and the Kalkaska Blue Bear Trailhead and the Grayling M72 West Trail head are in close proximity. In addition thousands of acres of Camp Grayling property, open to the public, are almost right out the door. There are shops in Grayling and Kalkaska which provide parts, service, and rentals.

The area also is a haven for deer hunting, turkey hunting, small game and bird hunting. Thousands of acres of public land are in immediate proximity of the house.

Hi, I'm Pat Lee and together with my daughter Kim and son-in-law Paul we have chosen to share this beautiful home with you! Though I was born in North Carolina, I have spent most of my life in Michigan. I have always enjoyed the beauty, tranquility, and abundant recreation and leisure our state has afforded. In fact, our home's name, Lee-sure's Way, is a play on my last name and the leisure one can enjoy just being here.
Pat Lee purchased this house in 1991
For many years, my husband Marvin and I have enjoyed many wonderful times up here by ourselves and with family and friends. There is so much we have done; hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, canoeing, tubing, campfires, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and yet many times we did absolutely nothing. We just enjoyed and relaxed. Marvin is gone now, but we would like to share these experiences with you - I think he would have liked that.
When you come up, it will just be natural for you to rail. That is just sitting on a chair on the deck, with your feet up on the railing, just enjoying the river. Every season; summer, winter, spring, and fall are all wonderful up here. And there isn't a more gorgeous river in the state - maybe even the midwest - than the Upper Manistee. It is truly pristine.
When you stay with us, Paul and Kim will take care of all your needs. They live just up the river. Don't hesitate to call.
Thanks, and enjoy the north,
Pat, Kim, and Paul
Perfectly maintained "home away from home," marvelously equipped and supplied, and in a perfect location for total relaxation. We're going back!
Our group of fly fishermen just returned from the cabin. It was one of the best places we have stayed in Michigan in years. The view is an incredible setting on a quiet stretch that you can walk from the deck and enjoy. The owners keep the place in very good condition and respect renters who leave it like they found it. There is plenty of parking and access to quality fishing. Thanks Paul and Kim for all your efforts keeping the cabin in good condition.
Beautiful home, well kept and clean, on a great spot overlooking the river. It was very well equipped, which is a good thing as it is a bit of a drive to town.
Excellent choice for a quiet weekend in the woods away from distractions and noise. My husband enjoyed the fishing - it was challenging and unusually cold for mid May, but he caught A few beauties none-the-less. I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and watching the wildlife (I even added two birds to my life list). The cabin was very clean and well equipped with plenty of linens, towels, pillows, pots, pans, etc. even items like a hair dryer, DVDs, games, binoculars, telescope, etc. The owners are incredibly nice, helpful and welcoming (I've stayed at nice vacation rentals that come with an overwhelming book of rules...not the case here). Highly recommended. Can't wait to return!
My husband's passion and obsession is fly fishing. Being that we are from Dorchester ON Canada, we aren't too familiar with the area, but we took the chance anyway.
Wow, what a beautiful cottage and breathtaking property! This private and secluded location was perfect for fly fishing, relaxing and spending time with the family. The wildlife and river view was unbeatable and the cabin was fully stocked with all the amenities we could ask for, and then some! I have never stayed at a place on VRBO before where they actually provided things like spices, sugar, cooking oils and provided all necessities for anything you may have forgotten.
The owners were fabulous, and so friendly! You can tell that their family very much enjoyed their memories at the cabin and are happy to share their pride of the home with others. It makes you feel like home too seeing some of the decor and a couple of pics they had wearing their fly fishing hats :)
We went a little early in the year for fly fishing, but if I didn't mention that female 24" brown trout that my husband caught during our stay he'd be sure to kill me :) Along with a few others, including a brookie. Be sure to ring the bell when you catch one!
Truly a great experience for the whole family and we will be sure to come back soon! Hopefully next time I can out fish my husband for once!
