It's impossible not to sit back and relax on this quiet 3/4 acres vacation rental situated on the Manistee River. We affectionately refer to it as 'Lee-Sures Way.' Enjoy our favorite pastime - railing, which is reclining in a chair on the spacious wrap around deck with your feet up on the railing just watching the river go by! From that vantage point you actually look down into the river. The splendor of unspoiled state land is right across the river.

***House and Lot ***

The house is a well kept, modern A-frame with vaulted ceilings, 3 bedrooms (one is a large loft). Total beds include 1 queen, 2 full, and 2 twins. 8 can sleep comfortably. It also includes an updated full bath, carpeting throughout with stone tile in the kitchen, 2 large picture windows which provide breath-taking views of the river, satellite TV, DVD and stereo units (with small libraries), central air conditioning, forced air propane heating, wood burning stove, washer and dryer, wrap around deck on 3 sides, Wii video unit and games, outdoor propane grill, fire pit, firewood, dock, and access to a 2-1/2 car garage. An automatic backup generator provides electrical comfort in the event of a power failure. Bed linens, pillows, towels, dishes, silverware, pots and pans are all provided. Just bring your, clothes, food, and toys!

*** The River (fishing, canoeing, kayaking) ***

This portion of the Upper Manistee River has been given special designation by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as a 'Michigan Natural River' because of it's pristine water quality and abundant and unspoiled natural environs and wildlife. This section of the river is designated for fly fishing only and offers some of Michigan's best trout fishing. Brown, Brook, and Rainbow trout abound. Nearby fisherman landmarks are Yellow Tree, Burnt Cabin, Pearls on a Necklace, and the CCC Bridge. The river also affords excellent canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and swimming opportunities. Two canoe liveries are located nearby. Many inland lakes as well as Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are nearby offering several fine beaches and fishing.

*** ORV, Snowmobiling ***

Off the river the area is prime for ORV enthusiasts in the summertime and snowmobilers in the winter. You can step right out the door and right on to your machine. State land surrounds the area and the Kalkaska Blue Bear Trailhead and the Grayling M72 West Trail head are in close proximity. In addition thousands of acres of Camp Grayling property, open to the public, are almost right out the door. There are shops in Grayling and Kalkaska which provide parts, service, and rentals.

*** Hunting ***

The area also is a haven for deer hunting, turkey hunting, small game and bird hunting. Thousands of acres of public land are in immediate proximity of the house.

*** Centrally Located to Northern Michigan Attractions ***

Lee-Sures Way is centrally located in northern Michigan making it an excellent hub for day trips to all the wonderful attractions at the 'tip of the mitt.'

About Pat Lee

Hi, I'm Pat Lee and together with my daughter Kim and son-in-law Paul we have chosen to share this beautiful home with you! Though I was born in North Carolina, I have spent most of my life in Michigan. I have always enjoyed the beauty, tranquility, and abundant recreation and leisure our state has afforded. In fact, our home's name, Lee-sure's Way, is a play on my last name and the leisure one can enjoy just being here.

Pat Lee purchased this house in 1991

Why Pat Lee chose Northern Michigan

For many years, my husband Marvin and I have enjoyed many wonderful times up here by ourselves and with family and friends. There is so much we have done; hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, canoeing, tubing, campfires, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and yet many times we did absolutely nothing. We just enjoyed and relaxed. Marvin is gone now, but we would like to share these experiences with you - I think he would have liked that.

What makes this house unique

When you come up, it will just be natural for you to rail. That is just sitting on a chair on the deck, with your feet up on the railing, just enjoying the river. Every season; summer, winter, spring, and fall are all wonderful up here. And there isn't a more gorgeous river in the state - maybe even the midwest - than the Upper Manistee. It is truly pristine.

When you stay with us, Paul and Kim will take care of all your needs. They live just up the river. Don't hesitate to call.

Thanks, and enjoy the north,

Pat, Kim, and Paul

Peaceful and relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

Great overall trip. House was everything we needed for the weekend. Spent lots of time on the deck just watching the river go by. Very peaceful environment. Very clean and had everything you needed to make yourself at home. I would recommend this to anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and who needs a place to unplug and recharge. Communication with the owners was easy and pleasant.

Two peaceful weeks on the Manistee River

  • 5 of 5

We always enjoy our stays. Our visit during the last two weeks was relaxing and very comfortable. We had family visit for a few days, which including grandkids. They all had a great time. There is always so much to do with watching wildlife, playing yard games and campfire time.

This cabin has everything you need except food and clothing. Besides the obvious draw of the river, there are walks up to the CCC Bridge (about a 5 miles round trip) or just sitting and reading out on the large deck. For those occasional wet weather days there are plenty of puzzles, books, board games and movies to keep everyone happy.

We look forward to coming back again in the future as this is a great place to get away from it all while feeling at home.

Very clean

  • 5 of 5

Great place for the price and the fact that the cabin sits on the most awesome view of the river is amazing. The owners are very good at keeping this place spot on with anything the renter may need. If you're looking to relax, this may just be the place for you.
