Perfect for 5 couples and kids! Across the street from the lake on Eagle Point (with lake access for fishing / kayak /canoe launching); This large 2 story home sleeps 13. Has 5 bedrooms (4 Queens, 1 King, 1 Queen Sofa / Sleeper, 1 Futon), 3 baths; and has parking for 5 cars (1 garage + 4 driveway). Healthy walking distance to the Village, Shopping and Snow Summit shuttle parking lot. New Catalina 7 person Hot Tub / Spa, BBQ / Patio out back and wrap around front deck to watch the sunset. Kids downstairs and adults upstairs make this a perfect vacation home! Great for the Winter and Holidays!
Live in San Diego, always loved coming to visit Big Bear, found this house in Eagle Point (yes there are bald eagles living her) right across the street from the lake, with lake access. Thought this was a cool home for family / friend vacations and am offering it for rent when we are not there!
Jim Ostrich (owner) purchased this house in 2012
Nearness to the lake, with public lake access for kayak or canoe launching / fishing. Walking distance to Snow Summitt overflow / shuttle parking lot, the Village for shopping or eating, as well as nearby Meadow Park (4th of July Fireworks) swimming and playing with kids. Ideal location!
I like the Garden RR train setup myself, but its not available to the renters do the fragile / high price nature of the trains!
Spacious home for a White Christmas with my family.
Well furnished with a great location! Loved it! Sue S
We liked this cabin so much we came back for a second time. We have 9 adults, 2 teens, and 2 preteens and this cabin accommodates all of us very nicely. The kids have the lower level to themselves to watch TV, play video games or pool etc. The upper level hosts a large kitchen with plenty of room for food prep and is well stocked. The long dining table fits all of us and we loved that. As many have stated, the cabin has a retro vibe and reminds me of when I was a kid. It is well maintained and the owner is very responsive to any of your needs. Overall, it is warm and cozy and central to all of the Big Bear amenities. Hoping we can come back again.
The cabin was really clean and I have so much fun with my family there. There was enough space for everyone and a lot of activities to keep us entretain. It was snowing so that make the place look really beautiful. Would definitely stay again.
Hi Jim, many thanks for a great weekend, the jacuzzi was the highlight!!
Here are a few things you should know about:
1. Downstairs bath-
a. Right sink faucet leaking
b. Shower handle plate not attached
2. Downstairs Playroom
a. 1 bedroom lamp not working
3. Upstairs bathroom
a. right sink faucet leaks
4. Many light bulbs out, we replaced a few of them, outside security light needs a special bulb.
We purchased new coffee cups, light bulbs, and trash bags, and left them for future guests.
These little things did not effect our vacation, just thought you would want to know about them.
We hope to be able to rent from you again in the future, you have a beautiful home.
All The Best,
Ross & Audrey deRoche
We stayed here for a family vacation with 5 different families. The location was great for everyone to be able to get around and do what they wanted. The house was spacious enough that we were not all on top of each other and the large dinning table allowed us to all sit down together.
The only minor issues we ran into were:
-The lack of kitchen utensils and pots & pans. There were only two pans large enough for us to cook for the whole family and they were both electric, one had clearly been on fire at some point so we made due with just the one. There was not a whisk so instead we used the single beater from a hand mixer (never found the actual hand mixer).
-The window coverings in the kitchen didn't work and some of the bedrooms curtains were see through; not optimal for changing in those rooms.
The bad however was nothing compared to the good and we would gladly return here on a future trip.
We had a great time here - played some pool, enjoyed the spa, had a nice dinner at the great big dining table cooked on the patio BBQ. Very comfortable all around.
Place is pretty much as described. Marked down a bit as it is dated. We expected that from other reviews and set our expectations accordingly. Owner communicated well and no issues if you follow the rules :-).
Walking distance to Big Bear Village shops / restaurants, Snow Summit Shuttle / Parking, as well as Meadow Park (swimming area and playground), and the lake is across the street for fishing!
