Why Lynne Hondorp chose Fort Collins

Living most of our lives in Europe and the Middle East, we spent a year in Fort Collins in 2005 and fell in love with the community. Being close to Colorado State University in Old Town was our goal. We built this cottage in 2007 so that whenever we are in the US we would have a place that felt like home. We added landscaping and patios because we love being outside. We hand-carried ceramic tile from the Middle East to add a familiar touch to the kitchen and bathroom. Having hosted and been hosted by people all over the world, we place a premium on hospitality and have tried to ensure that this place has everything needed to enjoy your stay in Fort Collins.

Beautiful, peaceful spot, so close to town

  • 5 of 5

This little cottage was the perfect answer for my stay, with my 15 year old son and I, while visiting his older brother away at school! The location is central to everything in Old Town, and hidden away down a very private lane, where no one bothers you. The cottage is set up so that there was appropriate privacy for both of us, and the beds are very comfortable, and cozy. Lynne was incredible in accommodating our last minute request. She was kind and pleasant and so eager to help, I cannot thank her enough. We will most definitely stay here every time we come for a visit!

Location is great, near downtown and many delicious restaurants. I was able to use the bike to go to Old Town and we BBQ 'd on the patio and it was nice to enjoy the outdoor space. Great stay!

Perfect!

Great location. Well equipped. Sleeps 4 adults easily. We had friends over for Dinner on the patio and grilled some steaks. All equipment was there. There is no stove but lots of electrical pots and pans plus microwave etc. comfy beds! Parking for 2 cars in back. Easy communication with owners. Highly recommended!!!

Amazing, Quiet, Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at this beautiful cottage in Sept 2016. We were celebrating our 2nd year wedding anniversary. This place was absolutely perfect!!! It was super clean and really quiet. I loved how everything was there for us to cook. Even tho it didn't have a stove the owners provided an electric skillet grill that worked just fine. I enjoyed how close we were to downtown (we took uber) and was able to see a lot of old downtown without the hassle of parking. The owner is easy to work with. You wont be disappointed by booking this cottage.

Much nicer than expected!

  • 5 of 5

After viewing the property on the website and visiting the property in person, I will say the pictures don't do it justice.

The property is very nice - it's a converted free standing garage or carriage house. Whoever they had do the remodel did a fantastic job, and it is extremely high quality work inside. The place isn't drafty at all (which you often find with properties of this type) and the heat works extremely well. The loft is great for kids and the bedroom is nice and well appointed. Everything we needed was already there (towels, linen, etc) and of nice quality.

Internet is provided, but it is pretty slow - so don't expect to any work or other data heavy activities. The TV has Roku built in, so if you have a Roku account or a Plex server, you can access your media directly from the TV, which is a nice bonus - but be prepared to tune down the bitrate, since the Internet is too slow to provide full bitrate streaming. The Wifi signal is strong, though, so you'll have no problems with basic email and browsing.

Access is through the back alley, which is a little confusing at first, but once you get used to it, it's fairly easy - but it's hard to see the alleyway at night.

There is a 120v outlet outside, so if you have an EV, you can use that - but it's pretty slow since it's only 12a @ 120v. It would be great if they put in a NEMA 14-50 outlet for the EV drivers that might come and stay... I had to use a lot of public charging around town. There's only two working DCFC chargers (Jax Surplus and the Nissan dealer), on opposite ends of town. Just down the street at the pool is an L2 charger you can leave your car at overnight. All chargers in town seem to be on the EVGO network, so get an account and card before you arrive if possible.

Bikes are provided, if you're inclined to ride around town, which is a nice bonus.

All in all, I would definitely stay at this property again. It was great for me and my family - I was a little trepidatious after looking at the pictures, but it was pleasantly surprising and definitely a good place to stay!
