We are from Chicago and quite by accident discovered Rancho Mirage while on vacation (we were in San Diego during a monsoon and my husband said let's go to the desert). The desert? It was love at first sight! The air, the scenery, the outdoor activities...amazing place to live and have kids! We live most of the time in downtown Chicago but treasure time spent at the desert home.
Andrea purchased this estate in 2007
It's unique in that it's very private (House is gated, plus 30 home neighborhood is gated with a security guard). But we have large families and love to entertain...we give several parties a year ranging from small of 40 guests to 200 people when you open the indoor outdoor sliders. Plus we can sleep easily 16 people which is a huge plus...our family loves being here and always say how 'happy and warm' the house feels.
It's a super place to relax, have corporate getaways, elegant but kid friendly, family reunions. There are so many places to gather as a group or if you want to be alone...the den, outdoor living room, huge veranda with seating areas. It's a happy, peaceful place.
My husband and 3 children loved this home, the location, the pool, the beds, the great outdoor space. We are renting it again this year for another month. My husband Jim thought the location was key and right in the center of the "valley" where there's both action, quiet and golf!!! Owners super nice too...left us a Goodie Bag which was so sweet.
Each year we rent a home for a month in the desert----We are a group of 3 couples from Canada and all avid tennis players. This year we hit the jackpot! This lovely home was the best we've yet encountered----very private, elegant but warm. From the upscale indoor appointments to the fun backyard----why have one large BBQ area when you can have 2?!! The outdoor living room has a fireplace where we roasted many marshmallows and enjoyed our wine. Great pool, spa....in a great location to both tennis and my husband Jack ran each morning in the clean desert air with beautiful desert scapes. Gourmet everything here---we rarely went to dinner as we felt we had a mini Four Seasons in our backyard and dined in many evenings---Bottom line, great location. Great home. Rented it next year already for a month but we are bringing our kids and 2 grandchildren!
As a family we rarely write reviews but my husband just loved this home and amenities. A little background he's a professional athlete (we are from Seattle) so
Going warm in the off season was a big deal for him. We spent several weeks at the Tennis Tournament where Antonia the housekeeper even drove us. When several of his team mates came for a week both with sets of twins Antonia even offered to help the nannies. My husband calls this his "private Four Seasons" resort. The home is warm, spacious and gracious. Great style. Owners very accommodating. First class all the way. A well spent month---even my parents visited with no complaints (which is a big deal in my family). Highly recommend. Upscale happy home. We may spend next March there again though my husband is going back for a week in June for a guy's golf thing.
I'm a 38 year old writer, with 3 young kids from Calgary. Every 24 months or so we rent a house somewhere quiet and relaxing so I can focus on writing a new book outline. We've rented houses in Ireland, French Wine Country, and South America...but this is absolutely the best place yet.
Imagin waking each morning to sunshine (if there are clouds in Palm Springs, we did not see any), in a HUGE first class home, with a beautiful pool, looking at gorgeous mountains. If you have that in your mind, that is this house. I would have been happy just sitting outside in the backyard drinking coffee and wine all day. I loved it. My wife loved it. My kids loved it. Great nature activities around from hiking to the desert zoo, to just walking around the neighborhood with $5 and $10 million houses. My kids went to the "public pool" nearby almost every day, which is basically an Olympic Acquatics Center!! And did we mention the world's greatest housekeeper that is included in the rent as a bonus? We would have taken her back with us to Canada with us if should had agreed to come (and we did 'suggest' it).
I may be biased because I think I just wrote my best book yet while staying there, but I can't help but believe this relaxing place helped my writing. The house even comes with 2 Casitas--one for my wife so she could have privacy to paint, and one for me to write by myself.
We could not have asked for more.
I’ve stayed at this house twice now. I normally don’t write reviews, but I must in this case. I sold my company 2 years and have since stayed in a lot of nice places for extended vacations. This place is the best of them all. First time I stayed was for a month in March for the Tennis Tournament---with just my wife and teenage kids. It was probably the best family vacation ever---huge house, beautiful furnishings, great TV/Sound system, pool, sunshine, tennis tournament, the nicest housekeeper in the world (who will also drive you to tennis tournament, dinner, etc.). So we came back in October for 6 weeks and invited a series of friends for 1 week visits---both my adult children and their young kids came for a week, and then friends from NYC and Europe. Given the large number of bedroom suites (7-8?), it was really easy to invite couples and families as it allowed everyone to both do things as a group and also have their privacy. My friends from Europe were really impressed when the guards at the front gate said British Royalty had stayed at the house last year!! I’m one of those people who is always suspicious if something sounds too good to be true……well, this place sounds great, but it is actually better than it sounds!!!
This property was exactly what a group of great friends was looking for to get away into the April CA sunshine. From the multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, and spacious interior, it's an absolute gem! The decor and furnishings are beautiful too! Oh, and the pool and outdoors is incredible. In addition to the amazing main home bedrooms, there are also two lovely casitas that are ideal if traveling with babysitters and/or couples/parents who need some added privacy. Wow---they should have more than 5 stars to choose for this property! I would love to stay at this property again when visiting Rancho Mirage next year and the year after and the year after and the year after.
Three times a year, a group of us guys all come together for a 3-day golf tournament at the Indian Wells Golf Resort.
This time, some of us decided to “Go Big” on the accommodations.
A year ago, my online company, acquired a 21 year old online golf travel magazine called “Golf Odyssey” (The Insider's Guide to the Best in Golf Travel).
Even through I don’t personally do the secret shopper golf trips for the magazine, I felt obligated to find just the right house for our group of guys that were going to be staying together. My reputation was on the line here!
I spent probably 4-6 hours going through hundreds of properties within 15 minutes of the Indian Wells Resort. After a couple back and forth emails with Andrea, this Estate was my final choice. I crossed my fingers that it was as good as it looked the pictures.
The house was beyond good, it was fantastic.
So, good… we played golf each morning and hightailed it back to the house to enjoy the rest of the day. This was the first time in years that I’ve vacationed in the desert and didn’t go out do dinner every evening. We didn’t want to leave the house.
The layout was perfect. This property is the ultimate house for entertaining. The back yard is enormous.
In addition, the master bedroom was nearly a residence of it’s own, as was one of the Casitas. The rest of the bedrooms were equally as elegant and well appointed.
It’s also at the end of the street (behind it’s own gate), so it’s very private.
To anyone looking for an amazing place to stay in the desert, I highly recommend it.
Great golf courses nearby...125! Hiking 5 minutes away at the Bump-n-Grind, a local hangout and also the Living Desert and Indian Canyons. 10 minutes to Indian Wells Tennis Gardens and El Paseo shopping in Palm Desert. Two great water parks for kids & adult kids! No need to drive to The River, just walk from the house to the desert's premier entertainment center. Farmer's Market on weekends 5 minutes away and so is Casino gambling.
