We (3 great friends) rented this property for a girls get-away weekend. Loved the location of it and the road was absolutely breathtaking with all the trees. The area was very quiet during our stay. The house was spacious, clean and well equipped. We drew straws as to who had the master bedroom etc - bedrooms were far enough apart for privacy, even using the upstairs bedroom with the bath on the first floor worked out fine. So if one went to bed earlier than the others, they were definitely not disturbed. The beds were comfortable and definitely had enough blankets. Loved the openness of the LR/DR/Kitchen, it was great for carrying on conversations while cooking. The island separating the kitchen from the family room was quite large and nice to be able to use in preparation of meals. You did not feel like you were on top of one another in the kitchen. plenty of room for everyone to prepare meals. The sofas were comfy and great for cozying up with a glass a wine near the fireplace. The dining room table was huge, the 3 of us only used a third of the table for dining and when we played games. So it would be great for larger group of friends/family. Loved the furnishings and felt very comfortable - home away from home!
Found a great bar to watch the Cubs game (Casey's in New Buffalo). Loved using the fireplace and the weather was actually conducive for us to use the fire-pit out back for s'more time - we were up there the last week-end of October! We did some shopping, wineries, and even some hiking in a county park. The house is conveniently located with everything pretty much 15 minutes away. I think the longest we drove was 25 minutes to a particular winery. Definitely stop at Hearthwood Custom Furnishings, some very unique items - we all bought something in there! And Sawyers Antique Mall was great for browsing.
Laura, the owner, was quick in responding to any questions we had between the time we booked this property and the time of arrival. She was nice enough to waive the check-in/check-out time for us, thus not feeling rushed to leave on our last day. We would definitely consider staying there again, should our next get-away take us to the same area.
Beautiful setting and lovely house. Really enjoyed our weekend stay.
A beautiful home and a great place for a family vacation. We're already looking forward to returning next summer.
Thank you Laura and Ben for sharing your lovely home! It was much more than we expected. Very clean and feels like home. The house has everything you might need and is a beautiful setting with the pool. The kitchen is fully stocked and has everything you need. We went to a couple wineries, the farmers market, and spent a fun afternoon in the pool. We ate at The Stray Dog in New Buffalo and at Mesa Luna in Sawyer. I highly recommend it, farm to table restaurant, very peaceful. Everything was perfect until our last night when the neighbor across the street started his "explosives" show at midnight in the street. This went on for a long time and was way beyond what we considered a few firecrackers. I feel bad that this occurs in such a lovely peaceful place.
We rented this property for a relaxing girls weekend and that's exactly what we got! The area and property itself are peaceful and gorgeous! We didn't know a lot about the area and Laura, the owner, was so helpful. Everything could not have been more perfect and we were so appreciative!
We were very pleased with this home! It is clean, decorated well, and provided everything we needed for a great weekend. There were 6 ladies in our group and we split two queen beds, and two double beds. So easy to get to off the freeway and quick rides to restaurants and the wineries. Also seemed to be set up perfectly for having a family visit as well. We all said we would return to Tranquil Harbor!
