About Jim Ayers
We began as a Christmas Boutique called Mistletoe Lane. A winter experience that quickly became a Chester favorite, and a must see boutique with locally selected quality artisans. Now open this year inviting guests to enjoy it as their home in the mountains. We moved into our house in 2001 and discovered bits and pieces of its history. Neighbors remember the original section being moved from Westwood in the early 1900's and even worked on it as rooms were added. It was doubled in size just a few years before we moved in, and as we remodeled, we found more of its hidden treasures behind walls and under old carpet. What a fun, charming house!
Jim Ayers purchased this House in 2001
Why Jim Ayers chose Chester
Jim was offered a teaching job in the area in 2001 and jumped at the opportunity to bring his family away from the hustle of the city. The Ayers family was excited, they got to live in a place just like they saw on Hallmark, a charming old house in a mountain town with the splendors of all four seasons and neighbors who become family. They fell in love with it. They raised their four beautiful daughters in the home with many memories, and cherish it. The Ayers hope you will find the same joy and make many memories you will want to share too.
What makes this House unique
Mistletoe Manor accommodates 15 people comfortably (with 10 beds) which is difficult to find in our area. It is in the heart of the community with easy walking access to cafe's, outdoor sports equipment rental shop, coffee shop, gift and book stores, library, park, the Feather River and the lake. All this with more affordable rates than a hotel.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Perfect for our trip
This is a great property that has everything you need. It made our trip a breeze not needing to pack extra stuff. The house was the perfect size more a small family reunion and my youngest daughter loved the tetherball and swing.
50th Anniversary Trip
Mistletoe Manor is very inviting and warm. The layout allows for being alone, if desired, and also for the nine of us to eat and recreate as a family. Each family had good sleeping arrangements and yet we were not on top of one another. Grandchildren enjoyed the swing, tether ball and backyard, when we were not exploring Lassen Park or enjoying Lake Almanor!
It was nice to be back in the area, after moving to Montana nearly 40 years ago. Our children were born while living at park service headquarters in Mineral and it was nice to share the beauty of the area with them and their spouses, along with our grandchildren! The area will always hold a special place in our hearts!
There were five women who stayed the full week and we never got in each other's way. The house was roomy, comfortable, inviting, and in a convenient location for shopping and recreation. The wifi was not real strong, but we spent out evenings playing board games and visiting so it was ok. There were plenty of linens and kitchen supplies. All in all, a great vacation home.
This was a great spot with easy access to the local attractions and a lovely space. Definitely recommend.
Relaxing and spacious
I wanted to rent a big vacation house for my family near Lake Almanor and Mt. Lassen. This house was very accommodating and comfortable, and homey. The kitchen had great appointments. Bathrooms were well stocked with fluffy towels. We enjoyed the privacy of the rooms. Front and backyards are lovely. This property is on a corner lot in a quiet neighborhood.
This was the perfect location for us to go visit our favorite places: Lake Almanor, Mt. Lassen, ans Susanville.
Very spacious and comfortable!
This property was charming with interesting rooms. Everything was very spacious for our two families. We were looking for a quaint town to escape to play in the snow, and this gem was it! Snow a plenty was everywhere for the kids!! The owner was very kind and helpful to ensure we had all the info we needed. We will be looking forward to our next stay here!
