Perfect space with a great view! Close to town but not noisy.
Had a great weekend trip to Cripple Creek. House location was awesome, within walking distance of the casinos. Definitely would stay again.
Everything was as described. The lodge was very well kept, and for us the location was perfect. So, what made it great for us? Hiking- Crags, Crags trailhead to Devils Playground to Pikes Peak, Domerock, Horsethief Falls, all were excellent hikes and within a 20 minute drive. We toured the Molly Kathleen mine, took the train tour and rafted the down the Bighorn sheep canyon and royal gorge ( Lost Paddle in Canon is a great outfitter to use). We also made a trip into Colorado Springs, about an hours drive, to see Garden of the Gods. There is also a nice self guided tour of the old mining operations in Cripple Creek and Victor.
Only drawback- no washer or dryer.
I would absolutely stay here again!
The small quaint town of Cripple Creek was great. Our stay at this home was incredible, the owner left us a jar of coffee which was great because the nearest store was miles away. The house was on a hill overlooking town, you could see the church's copper steeple and all the buildings surrounding the charming western style town. The train station was just below us so we could hear the whistle and bells during the day which was really neat. We would definitely like to stay there again some time it was a wonderful trip. The homeowner delivered a box from USPS to the house for us as there just wasn't enough room to haul three quarts of oil, a filter and a filter wrench on our motorcycle along with clothes and all the necessary things for a road trip. Thanks Bill for all the hospitality and allowing us to enjoy our trip, good times and a great house!
To start, after reading the the reviews and talking with the owner before we booked for a family vacation, the Silver Street Lodge was all that I expected, if not more. We actually ended up with six adults, a teenager and a couple of small children. It is a fine cabin, albeit there are quiet a few stairs to contend with. Beautiful views, peace and quiet, the mule deer out back was a treat for the whole family. Our last morning the buck mule deer hung out right by the back deck for about a half hour, just awesome. We didn't gamble but did enjoy the quaint little historic town. We road the local steam locomotive train, whitewater rafting the Arkansas River, took the cog train up to Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods. Right at 10,000' when exerting yourself you definetly knew the air was thin compared to home at 10' or so. Especially on top of Pikes Peak at 14,000'. Yes the drive way was steep. We parked 2 SUVs and a truck there without an issue. When the guys were driving most the time, we backed up the drive way. One of my sons wife drove some and she just drove in forward. It was really never an issue, just had to pay attention. What a deal, nice 3 level log cabin and more than reasonably priced. The owner was easy to contact although after we arrived on site, we never had the need.I definetly recommend the Silver Street Lodge!
Plenty of room for the four adults and four kids in our family. Sitting on the deck in the evening watching the sunset over Cripple Creek was the highlight of trip. The kids loved the old vhs tapes. The two mule deer bucks that fed on the hillside above the back deck in the evening was a treat to watch also. Great value!
