Our family spent 4 fantastic years living in Antigua in this home. We are now back in the States and visit every chance we get.
Velvet Beard purchased this house in 2005
I fell in love with Antigua while living there in 2002/2003 during the adoption of my daughter After returning for visits for a couple of years and staying in other people's houses, we decided to buy our own house with the intention of someday living in Antigua fulltime.
This home is in a great neighborhood with great neighbors where it is safe enough to let the kids play in the neighborhood park. Just a 15 minute walk to the Central Park.
We just returned from a 1 week stay and absolutely loved it! The house was very clean and roomy. We loved the view of the volcano from the upstairs balcony, we had coffee there every morning! Also having a washer/dryer was very convenient. We felt very safe in this gated community and it was a very quiet place to rest. We would definitely stay here again! Loved it!
We had a wonderful stay in this lovely family friendly home. We had plenty of space for 5 of us. It was in a SAFE and Quiet gated community, it is the second time that we have stayed there and we would definitely stay again. The kids loved the hammock chair and we also really appreciated the washer and dryer too.
What a great home! It was close enough to everything to enjoy Antigua and all the surrounding beauty Guatemala has to offer! Plenty of space for our family, we never felt on top of each other, everyone could have their own personal space. The house has everything you need to have a very enjoyable stay, especially the kitchen, we cooked quite a bit! We have a 3 year old and she was thrilled to have her own chalkboard, seating on the patio upstairs and loved the hammock chair! We felt very safe & the area was extremely quite. I can't say enough good things about this darling house! We very much enjoyed our stay.
We have rented this home twice on extended visits to Guatemala (2-3 weeks at a time) and it is truly our home away from home there. The home is spacious, with rooms decorated with local crafts and fabrics. The kitchen is huge and invites families and friends to gather together for a meal. There are WiFi and cable TV, as well as a washer and dryer. Only 7 blocks to the heart of Antigua, past beautiful pastel homes and ancient churches and just 3 blocks to one of the best restaurants in Antigua (Meson Panza Verde) and practically around the corner from La Escalonia, a combination nursery and restaurant/cafe -- a great place to start the day. For those with families, the Porta Hotel, with its beautiful pool and bountiful Sunday brunch is roughly 4 blocks away (you can pay $10 - less for kids - to use the pool during the week, even if you're not staying there). The home is in a gated community, so there is a high degree of personal safety too. This home is the perfect base for savoring all that Antigua, Guatemala and the surrounding area have to offer.
