Prime location in Hood River, great access to all the area's activities, and a look and feel of the Northwest is what this vacation home has to offer.
A five minute walk takes you to shops for kiteboarding, windsurfing, kayaking, biking, fishing, skiing, snowboarding, or apparel for trekking. In this mix of shops are restaurants, bars, theatres, pubs and coffee shops. No need to drive.
Outdoor recreation is close. Just three minutes in your vehicle gets you to water sports like kiteboarding, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, or just a swim at the Event Center. If you like boating, the marina is right next door. Hike or bike on one of the many trails nearby.
To get a little space from all this action, Interstate-84 is nearby that will take you east to The Dalles, or west to Cascade Locks and the National Scenic Area of the Columbia River Gorge. Highway 35 will take you south on a 45 minute drive through the orchards of Hood River Valley to Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort and on to the historic Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. Or take the Hood River Bridge north to Washington and the town of White Salmon.
Custom maple cabinets, slate kitchen and bathroom floors, and warm lighting will impress your family and friends. No factory products or colors here. The attached garage keeps your vehicle cool in summmer and warm and dry in winter. The garage has secure storage space for all your sports equipment, too.
Stay here for an unforgettable experience.
Fantastic all around! Close to town, quite, clean, and well furnished. We will look to stay again on our next visit.
This is a nice unit in a convenient location, and was generally as expected. However, there were a few things that individually were very minor, but collectively, they became frustrating.
First, there was some type of miscommunication with the housekeeper, which delayed our check-in time. The owner notified us of this delay at approximately 4:15 PM on the day of check-in. No problem. We were out sightseeing anyway, and didn't arrive at the house until around 6:00 PM. When we arrived, the housekeeper was finished/gone and we were able to check-in. However, the housekeeper did a horrible job cleaning the unit. There was debris/food all over the counters and table. There was still dirty laundry in the washing machine. The floor didn't look vacuumed. The beds were not made. The shampoo bottle was left empty. Fine, so we cleaned, did laundry, made the bed, etc. Not too big of a deal, but I am left wondering what our $70 housekeeping fee covered. When we departed, we left the unit much cleaner than it was when we arrived.
Next we both tried repeatedly (and unsuccessfully) to connect to the Wifi... eventually, we realized that the password, as provided on the HomeAway app, was incorrect. We finally found a different password (the correct one) in a binder provided by the owner inside of the home.
After that, we were hoping to use the bikes to do some exploring around the town. We opened the garage to find that the bikes, as shown in the photos for this property, did not exist. No bike ride.
Lastly, as a warning to future guests who use Google Maps for navigation (as I do) ... Google Maps is unable to locate this property. It will take you to the wrong location. You need to follow the directions provided on the HomeAway app. The unit is actually located off of Eugene Street, not Sherman Ave. Google Maps will take you to Sherman Ave, which is incorrect. I acknowledge this is nobody's fault, but as I mentioned, all of these things collectively became a little frustrating.
The vacation property we stayed in meet our needs as was exactly as advertised. Comfortable and convenient to downtown. The next door neighbor is very sensitive to noise and made a point to come over and yell at us for talking too loud at 7am in the morning as we departed for the day.
This place was great. I came down with a buddy and rode bikes for a weekend. Nice and bright with plenty of room for two people with the pull out and the bed in the bedroom. Plenty of storage for gear and room for your car in the garage. Very clean and tasteful with a full kitchen and dining area. Short 5 min walk to everything downtown. 2 minutes to the closest coffee shop by bike. I plan on renting this again for future trips.
The rental was exactly as advertised. Very clean and felt almost brand new. It was comfortable and a perfect weekend getaway for a couple. The rental is about 1/2 mile walk to downtown Hood River, so easy enough to get down to restaurants and shopping without driving. But far enough away from the freeway and train tracks that the sounds didn't interfere with sleep. In general, the location is very quiet. Like another renter commented - if you're planning on cooking a full dinner (which we did), the kitchen is a little sparse. Only one mixing bowl, very limited seasonings, and lacking some of the basics (although we left cooking oil behind). But outside of that, it was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience that barely cost any more than staying at the Best Western for the weekend. Definitely recommended.
This was our first VRBO and had a great experience. We loved our stay. The condo was clean and nicely decorated. It was very well stocked with everything we needed. Conveniently located - within walking distance to many good restaurants and shops. Lots to see and do in the area.
